Mauris POV.

I didn't return to my room after all the events of the morning, instead I sat in the garden, on the bare floor among the flowers.

I felt a sense of relief wash over me as my talk with Yara had gone well. She had taken the news well, and I knew that she was a strong woman who could handle anything that came her way. But I also knew that I had put her in a difficult situation, and I felt guilty about it. I really had to talk to Kylie about what happened before the council meeting tomorrow but after the conversation with my father, I began to doubt the sense in my plan of talking to him.

I looked at the image of her that popped up in my head and realized how much I loved her. She was my mate, and I wanted to protect her from everything, including myself and Kylie's ambition which was capable of destroying everything in it's path. I had been keeping my feelings for her bottled up for too long, and I knew that I needed to tell her, I needed the space and perfect time to express

Kylie's POV.After I left Mauris and Oma in the study to give Mauris time to cool off whatever was wrong with him and also hoping that Oma would succeed in talking some sense into his head. Something felt off about Mauris, he seemed on edge, uncomfortable around everybody, he looked like he wanted to say something but was holding himself back.I needed Mauris and Oma by my side, if not for anything else but for emotional support. They were all I had in the pack, all I could boast of as mine and the only ones that would stand by me not matter what, even in the presence of the council. This is a terrible time to have any issues with Mauris.I left the study room and headed to the garden, there was a little hide out I had created with Maggie when we were kids, we would sit there while on our morning works to watch and appreciate the beautiful flowers and gifts of nature, it was the one thing that Oma loved about our morning walks until we grew apart or should I say, until we grew up.The

Yara's POV.The emotional breakfast session with Maggie made me see her in an entirely different light, she wasn't what they all thought she is. From the first day I met her, I could tell how powerful she is but with the situation of things, it would be best if she kept all her ambitions whatsoever a secret because the littlest things could be described as treason and betrayal.I spent the rest of the day in the library, Maggie showed me some of the erotic novels she fancied and before the end of the day, she had gathered a long list of books she would love for me to read. Browsing through the library shelves, I found a book titled, "It Ends With Us" by Colleen Hoover. I liked the book immediately I read the first five pages. I added it to my collection and returned to my room with the books.Maggie said she needed some sleep so after we said our goodbyes, she headed back to her room. I left the books at the table and crashed onto the bed, my bones ached from all the running about.Su

Oma's POV.Everything about Mauris behaviour was screaming guilty to me. Mauris has never been able to hide anything from me since we were kids, I would always be able to read his thoughts clearly on his face, I always wondered why Kylie wasn't able to do that but this time, we are grateful that he can't read Mauris facial expressions.Mauris and Kylie wouldn't stop bickering and arguing if Kylie should mark Yara or not, I got so sick of it and yelled at them."Cut it out you two!" I snapped. "This isn't the time to throw a tantrum." They both fell silent. Kylie told me earlier, right before Mauris joined us that he would make me his Beta after he becomes Alpha. It's an honour to serve him as his Beta and this position would keep me close to him for the rest of our lives but for some reason I felt a lump in my throat, tears stung the back of my eyes. The realization that he wanted to keep me by his side as his Beta and not his mate, hurt deeper than I could ever imagine it would. Then

Kylie's POV."We have an emergency!" Oma cried out. I wanted to yell at her for interrupting but when I saw the panic in her eyes, I knew that it must be important."Stay right here!" I instructed Yara and she nodded. I rushed up to Oma immediately and we stepped out together, closing the door behind me."What's wrong?" I asked, worried."Maggie fainted, she is in the hospital." I spotted Mauris behind her."What!" I yelled. He repeated himself but I couldn't hear him again, only his lips were moving, panic crept up my skin. "Where is she?" I asked in a hoarse voice."In the hospital, come with us, we came to get you." I rushed forward immediately, then I remembered that they are the ones taking me there so i had to slow down for them to catch up.Oma slipped into the back seat of Mauris car while I entered the front seat, Mauris took the while and turned on the ignition. All kinds of questions were running through my head, what could have happened? Is she sick? But how could she be s

Mauris POV.I led Oma out of the room, leaving Kylie and the doctor behind. I could feel her body trembling in my hands as I held her upright. I held her until we got outside, she breathed in the pristine air rapidly, gripping my arm tightly. She looked like she was out of air or something, as if she would faint any minute."Are you alright?" I asked, holding her upright. She took a few seconds, taking in deep breaths before she stood upright and gently pushed me away from her side."I am fine, let's go." She replied, firmly."Alright." I said, looking at her suspiciously. We headed to the car parked near the emergency entrance, I took the wheel and she took the seat right besides mine. I turned on the ignition and we drove away from the hospital. The ride was mostly silent, Oma kept staring out the window refusing to look at me but she suddenly turned around to stare at me."What are you going to do tomorrow? Mauris POV Continued. After the refreshing shower, I couldn't come up with anything. I paced my room, drying my body with a large towel. What do I do? Who can I ask for help? How can I avoid causing any trouble for Yara and Kylie tomorrow? All these questions and more kept ringing in my head. I knew for sure that the council would sniff Yara's mark out the moment she stepped into the room. They would know immediately that Kylie did not mark her and that scenario could turn very ugly in a few seconds.I needed to protect her, I couldn't let her but I couldn't suffer the same fate as my mother, at the hands of power-hungry Alphas. I thought about it long and hard for what seemed like hours before I made up my mind to talk to my father, he didn't seem like the best option and I would be betraying Kylie but I needed to do this to protect both Kylie and Yara. The only person that had that amount of power to fix this mess and set things right is the Alpha and that's my father, sadly he is K

Kylie's POV.I spent the night with Maggie, I slept by her bed, watching over her, I didn't move from her side till the next morning when she stirred, I sat up immediately, looking at her face to see if she was in pain. The doctor from earlier had not returned and I have heard no news about the test results."Kylie..." She said softly, trying to sit up. Hearing her voice, tore deeper into my heart. I can't believe I had neglected my sister so much."You shouldn't sit up, you should be resting." I cautioned, holding her still."I'm fine Kylie..." She replied, shaking my hands off. "Did you even sleep at all." "Yes I did." I lied with a straight face, I had barely slept at all. I heard noises from the other people in the room. "I aksed the nurse on duty to work the papers and get you changed to a VIP, I don't know what's keeping them so long." I whined."You don't have to do that, I would be leaving now.""What?
