“So,” Gina said as they lounge in the school cafeteria while having their lunch. “How was your day?”

Marcella puffed out a breath.

“Honestly? Not that bad,” she replies, then quickly adds, “Only had the one altercation with the new History Professor, at least," and she blushes slightly and lowers her head as she remembers how his presence had made her feel all warm inside. It wasn't really an altercation per se. She just wasn't used to having a lot of attention on her and it seemed he had been a little bit more attentive to her than everyone else.

It was obvious he remembered her. Knowing that had made her feel all fuzzy inside until a thought occurred to her.

'He might think I'm also a hooker.' She had felt shame as she knew it wasn’t every day you found out that your student works part-time in a bar waiting tables. She hoped he didn't think so even though that was very unlikely. That was probably why he had been giving her weird looks. Most of the bar patrons tend to assume that the

Lucas had been driving for about 30 minutes trying to get to the unfamiliar location James had texted to him. He hadn’t spent up to a month in the town and still relied on G****e Maps to find his place around and at the moment he could only boast of knowing the route to the college he taught at, some supermarkets and the way back to his home.Willowdale was a charming town located in the heart of Michigan and it was a perfect blend of modern and traditional, with sleek skyscrapers towering over classic brick buildings with a city-like district and a more local district. The streets he drove past were lined with trendy cafes, boutique shops, and small businesses, all bustling with activity. As he drove further into the local part of the town, he couldn't help but be impressed by the number of activities bustling everywhere; it was also home to a thriving arts district, with galleries and theatres showcasing the work of local artists. The streets were also filled with murals and street a

Lucas stepped out of the elevator and tiredly made his way to the door of his modern penthouse. Glancing at his wristwatch told him it was almost 10pm and he was looking forward to some much-needed rest.As he approached the door to his apartment and scanned his fingerprint, he suddenly sensed something was off. He couldn't put his finger on it, but the hairs on the back of his neck had risen and he was suddenly going into defensive mode. Was it the Veta pack? How did they track him to his house so quickly? Was his cover blown? His mind was racing with possibilities of how they must have found him as he braced himself, his claws extending out instantly and slipping into alpha mode as his door slowly opened, he slipped inside and the lights to his sitting room automatically came on.Until he saw who the intruder was– Anna. She was standing by his floor-to-ceiling windows staring out in awe into the sprawling metropolis with skyscrapers, bustling streets, and busy traffic below. The city

She had been hoping to see Professor Lucas at the bar the previous night, but he had never shown up. As she walked, her mind drifted back to their last interaction. Maybe he didn't even remember her name, let alone care about seeing her again. Marcella felt foolish for getting her hopes up, and she couldn't help but feel like she was just setting herself up for disappointment. She had thought that maybe he might come around, but now, she couldn't help but wonder if it had all been in her head.Taylor Swift's Love story was blasting off the earphones plugged into her ears and she couldn't help but wish she had her own magical love story too. But who was she kidding, she wasn't going to get a happily ever after with a Prince because she wasn't even princess material, not with her sorry excuse of a hair. She chuckled at her self deprecating thoughts as the next song came on; Ta

"I had no idea it could look like this."Esmeralda grinned. "That's the power of good hair products and a little bit of know-how. Now, let's move on to makeup."Marcella's eyes widened. "Makeup? I don't know anything about makeup."Esmeralda chuckled. "Don't worry, I'll teach you. It's all about enhancing your natural beauty, not covering it up." She said turning her face this way and that way."You have a really pretty face already but you'd be amazed at what a little contour, some highlight and blush would do for you. I also won't cover your freckles because they make you look stunning. I wish I had freckles too." Marcella blushed at the comments which had Esmeralda chuckling good-naturedly at her.As Esmeralda brushed her face with some powder, Marcella couldn't help but admire how confident

Marcella's breath caught in her throat, and for a moment, she couldn't believe her eyes. He was here, again. In this bar.The first thought that ran through her mind was that he remembered her name. And the way he had whispered it, in that husky voice of his into her ears, had heat curling low in her belly. Even though she reasoned that it was most likely because of how loud the music in the bar was and the chatter of the patrons all around them, his voice had sounded sinfully delicious."I-I'm s-sorry Professor. I d-didn't see you there," she managed to say even though her voice came out breathlessly. "It's okay, Miss Marcella. Accidents happen. Just try to be more careful next time. As much as I want to, I might not always be around to catch you." He finished as he held her with a steady gaze.Did he just say he wanted to always be around her or was she reading too much into his words? She felt heat rise to her cheek as she practically melted on the inside, feeling giddy with joy.E

"Um-he's actually my college professor. Comes around for drinks sometimes." She tried to reply offhandedly even though her heart was already galloping in her chest at the mention of him."O-m-g girl. That's the material you guys are getting now? They didn't make them like that in my time." She gave an exaggerated shudder and dreamy sigh.Marcella chuckled at her reaction but she didn't blame her. Professor Lucas had that effect on every girl it seemed. His girlfriend or wife, if he had one, was extremely lucky. Or maybe not, because she would most likely be concerned with the amount of attention he would be getting from the female folk. Poor her."Anyways, let's go make some big tips, girl," Esmeralda exclaimed, pulling her out of the ladies' room and back into the lively atmosphere of the bar.Marcella nervously followed her colleague's lead as they made their way back through the crowded bar to table six. Table six was in the vip lounge behind a curtain and had bouncers stationed the

Big Ben was expertly placing a slice of citrus by the side of a drink she believed belonged to Mr Bolton. Tucking in a curl behind her ears, she gestured at the cup, "is it ready?" His affirmative nod had her picking up the glass and carefully placing it on a tray to go serve her customer. She also avoided looking in the direction she knew her professor currently was.Fixing the practised smile on her face, she arrived at his table, setting his drink in front of him with careful ease. "There you go," she said, trying to sound confident. "One aunt roberta, just like you ordered."It seemed he was on a call as he kept humming his reply to whoever was on the other side with a slight frown on his face. "Well I wouldn't be too worried about that. Maybe they got wasted and passed out in a dump somewhere. They'll show up soon enough," he said in reply to his caller.Esmeralda had told her to always wait behind after serving a customer to be sure they didn't need anything else and also ensu

Marcella slowly stirred from the depths of unconsciousness, her senses returning in fits and starts. At first, there was only a vague awareness of warmth and comfort, as if she had been cocooned in a soothing embrace. Then, as her consciousness sharpened, her eyelids fluttered as she transitioned from the depths of unconsciousness to a hazy awareness. Her surroundings felt familiar, and it took a moment for her to piece together where she was. Despite how much his taunts stung, he ignored them as certain pieces began to click into place. He had noticed that, despite Bolton's incredible regenerative abilities, there was a pattern to the way he protected certain parts of his body, most especially his chest. It was most likely his Achilles heel. This realization ignited a spark of hope within Lucas. If he could exploit this weakness, he might have a chance at defeating the seemingly unbeatable rogue leader. With newfound determination, he charged at him and launched a series of relentless attacks aimed specifically at Bolton's chest, each strike calculated and precise. Then, it happened. Marcella, Esmeralda and the other captive women had felt the first tremor beneath their feet in their cell, a low rumble that reverberated through the concrete floor before they heard animalistic growls that grew louder. Their heads turned, their curious expressions morphing into fear as they slowly got on their feet and huddled backwards together. What kind of fighting was happening outside their cell that could cause such ground-shaking tremors? Before they could form answers to their unspoken questions, the rumbling intensified, causing the women to stumble and clutch at each other for balance. The cell's dim, harsh lighting swayed above them, casting eerie, elongated shadows on the cold, damp floor. Marcella turned to glance at Esmeralda, about to ask if this was a common occurrence but the baffled expression on her friend's gaunt face was all the answers she needed. She hadn't spent a day here but from the looks on everyone's faces, this wasn't normal at all. Then, without warni

The corridor stretched out before Anna and Lucas, a dimly lit passage that seemed to extend endlessly into the underground base. The walls looked like they were made of cold concrete, their surfaces marred with scuffs and scratches. It was a wide corridor, with three distinct pathways branching off from the central route and they had company. Very angry company. "That's her!"“That's the Shaman we've been looking–”"Get her!"Loud angry grunts and fiery growls filled the air as the rogue werewolves who were around the corridor when the main door was blasted open instantly charged at Anna. Her lips tightened into a determined line as she mentally prepared herself for the battle that was about to unfold. It seemed she had become something of a celebrity as she could see the deep malice and hatred in their gazes as they had instantly recognized her, probably from her distinct features as the ‘lady shaman who had killed their recruits.’ There was a thrill of excitement going through her

He had full trust in it because there was no time to analyse it; Marcella's life depended on it.
