Marcella's breath caught in her throat, and for a moment, she couldn't believe her eyes. He was here, again. In this bar.

The first thought that ran through her mind was that he remembered her name. And the way he had whispered it, in that husky voice of his into her ears, had heat curling low in her belly. Even though she reasoned that it was most likely because of how loud the music in the bar was and the chatter of the patrons all around them, his voice had sounded sinfully delicious.

"I-I'm s-sorry Professor. I d-didn't see you there," she managed to say even though her voice came out breathlessly.

"It's okay, Miss Marcella. Accidents happen. Just try to be more careful next time. As much as I want to, I might not always be around to catch you." He finished as he held her with a steady gaze.

Did he just say he wanted to always be around her or was she reading too much into his words? She felt heat rise to her cheek as she practically melted on the inside, feeling giddy with joy.

"Um-he's actually my college professor. Comes around for drinks sometimes." She tried to reply offhandedly even though her heart was already galloping in her chest at the mention of him."O-m-g girl. That's the material you guys are getting now? They didn't make them like that in my time." She gave an exaggerated shudder and dreamy sigh.Marcella chuckled at her reaction but she didn't blame her. Professor Lucas had that effect on every girl it seemed. His girlfriend or wife, if he had one, was extremely lucky. Or maybe not, because she would most likely be concerned with the amount of attention he would be getting from the female folk. Poor her."Anyways, let's go make some big tips, girl," Esmeralda exclaimed, pulling her out of the ladies' room and back into the lively atmosphere of the bar.Marcella nervously followed her colleague's lead as they made their way back through the crowded bar to table six. Table six was in the vip lounge behind a curtain and had bouncers stationed the

Big Ben was expertly placing a slice of citrus by the side of a drink she believed belonged to Mr Bolton. Tucking in a curl behind her ears, she gestured at the cup, "is it ready?" His affirmative nod had her picking up the glass and carefully placing it on a tray to go serve her customer. She also avoided looking in the direction she knew her professor currently was.Fixing the practised smile on her face, she arrived at his table, setting his drink in front of him with careful ease. "There you go," she said, trying to sound confident. "One aunt roberta, just like you ordered."It seemed he was on a call as he kept humming his reply to whoever was on the other side with a slight frown on his face. "Well I wouldn't be too worried about that. Maybe they got wasted and passed out in a dump somewhere. They'll show up soon enough," he said in reply to his caller.Esmeralda had told her to always wait behind after serving a customer to be sure they didn't need anything else and also ensu

“Have I ever dreamt of having sex with a wolf?” Gina asked with a bewildered look on her face.“No, I mean have you ever had... a sexual dream? You know, the kind that makes you wake up all wet and hot?” Marcella asked, keeping her focus on the laptop in front of her. They had been given an assignment to cover the coming Annual Willowdale's Founder's Day and had agreed to meet in the school library to brainstorm ideas when Marcella had blurted out her question. Which she was now ignoring because of the look Gina was currently giving her. “Well, yeah, of course I’ve had wet dreams,” she answered as she rummaged through her bag for her phone. “The first wet dream I ever got was I think in junior high.” “Really? That early?” Marcella perked up at that as she thought that maybe, she wasn't crazy. Well except for the wolf part.“Boys aren’t the only ones who get perverted thoughts, you know.” she replied with a slight smirk on her face.True, but Marcella usually kept such thoughts loc

Marcella sighed, knowing it was pointless to argue with her friend. "Alright, but can we please stick to a small budget this time?"Gina rolled her eyes. "Don't worry about it, Marcie. I'll cover us."Marcella couldn't help but feel a little guilty as they walked into the boutique. She was sure the money Gina would spend shopping would be enough to cover Nana's medication for a month. Pushing the foul thought away, she put on a cheery smile as she understood that this was her friend's way of showing she cared. They spent hours trying on outfits and taking selfies in the dressing room. Gina seemed to have an endless supply of energy, but Marcella was starting to feel exhausted."Gina, can we please take a break?" she pleaded. Bolton was seated on a metal chair which doubled as an examination table in a well-lit laboratory, his chest exposed and wearing only blank pants as strange-looking implants lay visible underneath his skin. The doctor, a tall and burly half-man, half-wolf, with thick dark fur for skin and sharp claws for fingernails moved around in his white lab coat mixing different chemicals and sniffing them, his nose twitching as he worked.Bolton had once asked him why he couldn't revert back to his human form and found out Dr Charles had been testing some drugs on himself to find a cure for the rare werewolf sickness that plagued their kind after he had lost his mate to it. He had been able to keep himself alive but had lost some of the genetic composition of his human side so he was stuck in his wereshift form. His mind drifted to a time in his life when he had almost died, if not for Dr Charles. Watching him work, he knew the man was an extremely intelligent scientist and doctor and was also a

"We can't afford slip-ups like this I'm afraid," he said casually. The other werewolves in the room shifted uncomfortably, not daring to make eye contact with him. They knew what was coming next.Within the next millisecond, he had decapitated Grant's head off his body and blood was still spraying around the table where his body still sat for a few seconds before collapsing off his chair. The rest of the pack remained silent, knowing better than to question their leader's judgement.Walking casually to the waste basket, he dropped the head into it and gave himself a reassuring smile. Useless people or things belonged in the trash."What do we do now?" another lieutenant asks as he walks back to his seat, his hands still dripping in blood. He sat down casually and leaned forward, his hands clasped in front of him. "We tighten security. We double-check everything. We can't afford any more slip-ups like this."The conversation continues as if there isn't a dead body in the room, each l

It was the early hours of Sunday and Lucas sat quietly in his seat on the plane, staring out the window, his mind a blur of memories and emotions. He had left the Willowdale Founder's Day celebration a few hours ago and was heading to Mystic Pines, his hometown in Louisiana, to see his pack and honour them as was his tradition. It was after all, the anniversary of their deaths, of the day he let them down.As the plane began to taxi down the runway, the captain's voice crackled over the intercom breaking him out of his thoughts. "Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. This is your captain speaking. We are currently cruising at an altitude of 36,000 feet and are on schedule to arrive in Louisiana at 5:45 AM. The current weather is clear and we should have a smooth flight. Thank you for flying with us."Lucas sighed and leaned back in his seat, closing his eyes. He knew he was going to be a wreck very soon as the pain of his loss was already feeling very fresh all over again.Suddenly, he

The journey ahead of her was uncertain, but her mind was already made up. Things she would have never believed were real if she'd heard it from someone else. Her worry for Lucas and the consequences of their rescue operation were skyrocketing with every piece of information Anna shared. "Anna," she cut in with an apologetic tone, "Are you guys in danger? I mean, with the police and all... What about Lucas?"Anna offered a reassuring smile, her eyes filled with a reassuring warmth as she seemed to understand what she couldn't say out loud. "Marcella, you needn't worry. Everything has been taken care of."Marcella couldn't help but feel more worried. If this information got out into the wrong hands, they would be hunted. "What about the bodies? Marcella slowly stirred from the depths of unconsciousness, her senses returning in fits and starts. At first, there was only a vague awareness of warmth and comfort, as if she had been cocooned in a soothing embrace. Then, as her consciousness sharpened, her eyelids fluttered as she transitioned from the depths of unconsciousness to a hazy awareness. Her surroundings felt familiar, and it took a moment for her to piece together where she was. The soft, muted light filtering into the room, the subtle hum of a ceiling fan, the comforting scent of fresh linen—all these sensory fragments coalesced into a realisation. She was in Lucas's apartment. As her vision cleared, she turned her head slightly, a dull ache thudding in her temples, and there, at her side, was Lucas his handsome face etched with worry as he sat perched on the edge of a nearby chair. A shiver of recognition rippled through her as memories flooded back. He seemed to be lost in thought as there was a sad and solemn dispo

Lucas knew there was something important he had been overlooking, a detail that might turn the tide in his favour. His mind raced, searching for the missing piece of the puzzle.Bolton continued to advance, his taunts growing more menacing. "You still don't have what it takes to be a leader," he sneered. Despite how much his taunts stung, he ignored them as certain pieces began to click into place. He had noticed that, despite Bolton's incredible regenerative abilities, there was a pattern to the way he protected certain parts of his body, most especially his chest. It was most likely his Achilles heel. This realization ignited a spark of hope within Lucas. If he could exploit this weakness, he might have a chance at defeating the seemingly unbeatable rogue leader. With newfound determination, he charged at him and launched a series of relentless attacks aimed specifically at Bolton's chest, each strike calculated and precise. Then, it happened. Marcella, Esmeralda and the other captive women had felt the first tremor beneath their feet in their cell, a low rumble that reverberated through the concrete floor before they heard animalistic growls that grew louder. Their heads turned, their curious expressions morphing into fear as they slowly got on their feet and huddled backwards together. What kind of fighting was happening outside their cell that could cause such ground-shaking tremors? Before they could form answers to their unspoken questions, the rumbling intensified, causing the women to stumble and clutch at each other for balance. The cell's dim, harsh lighting swayed above them, casting eerie, elongated shadows on the cold, damp floor. Marcella turned to glance at Esmeralda, about to ask if this was a common occurrence but the baffled expression on her friend's gaunt face was all the answers she needed. She hadn't spent a day here but from the looks on everyone's faces, this wasn't normal at all. Then, without warni

The corridor stretched out before Anna and Lucas, a dimly lit passage that seemed to extend endlessly into the underground base. The walls looked like they were made of cold concrete, their surfaces marred with scuffs and scratches. It was a wide corridor, with three distinct pathways branching off from the central route and they had company. Very angry company. "That's her!"“That's the Shaman we've been looking–”"Get her!"Loud angry grunts and fiery growls filled the air as the rogue werewolves who were around the corridor when the main door was blasted open instantly charged at Anna. Her lips tightened into a determined line as she mentally prepared herself for the battle that was about to unfold. It seemed she had become something of a celebrity as she could see the deep malice and hatred in their gazes as they had instantly recognized her, probably from her distinct features as the ‘lady shaman who had killed their recruits.’ There was a thrill of excitement going through her

It was a sensation he had never experienced before, a deep connection that went beyond anything he had felt even with his pack. He had full trust in it because there was no time to analyse it; Marcella's life depended on it. "I can feel her," he said to Anna who had joined him in the passenger's seat, his voice filled with urgency. "She's terrified out of her mind.""Stay strong, Lucas," Anna said, her voice soft yet filled with conviction. "The bond will lead us to her. We'll bring her back home."He pressed his foot on the gas pedal, the engine roaring to life as they sped through the streets.
