POV: Gianna

It’s been six months since the twins were born. It has been quite different; mom and dad are always busy and don’t have much time for us. I guess Aaron was right. They spend a lot of time with the triplets and their duties as Alpha and Luna. I walked downstairs to the main dining room. It’s massive and it can fit at least eighty people. That’s more than enough for the top ranked wolves and their families. I see Lucas and run up to him. He and I have gotten even closer. I’m always hanging out in the club house with him since mom and dad are too busy with duties and the triplets.

“Hey Lucas, how’s breakfast going? I ask.

“It’s so much better now that you’re here. Aaron is throwing a fit again about Alpha training. As future Beta I am trying to encourage him, but nothing seems to work.” He says.

“That sucks, I’m sorry I have such a pain in the ass brother” I say.

We here lots of giggles and I look over and see Sierra, Lucas’ twin sister and my friend.

“I’m telling the Luna.”

“Oh no you won’t, when I am the Beta, I will make you my maid if you tell the Luna” Lucas says to Sierra.

All of us burst out laughing as mom walked over.

“What are you three laughing so hard about over here?” Mom says.

“Oh, nothing Luna” Lucas says and nudges Sierra while giving her a stern look. 

I laugh even harder to the point where my milk almost comes out my nose.

Mom laughs and tells us to finish up our breakfast before school starts.

We do as told and hurry along to school. While walking I see Aaron arguing with dad again. This looks so much worse than usual. Aaron storms off and dad throws his hands up in the air, then walks off. I turn and see Lucas and Sierra still walking. I hurry to catch up to them. As I am running up Storm comes running from the opposite direction and we collide right before we get to Lucas. Storm falls on her butt and I fall on top of her. We cannot stop laughing. Storm is my other BFF. Yes, I have three best friends that’s ok.

After school I ran home. Excited to tell my parents about my A I received on my science test. I ran to dad’s office only to find him not in there. I ran to mom’s office and she’s not in hers either. While coming out of mom’s office I bumped into Aaron. 

“Hey Aaron, have you seen mom and dad?”

“No, they’re probably with the triplets, anyways what’s got you in such a good mood?” he says.

“I got an A on my science test, I wanted to show them.”

“That’s great, let’s go and get some ice cream and celebrate.” Aaron smiles.

We head to the kitchen, and he makes me a huge sundae, 3 scoops of vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, sprinkles, whipped cream, and a cherry on the top. YUM. He knows me so well. We sit down at the island and dig it. I can see he is troubled. I ask him what is wrong and what he says shocks me to the core.

“I have been debating whether I want the title or not. All the rules say I need to accept or reject the title by the age of fifteen. I already know what I want to do. I just don’t know if mom and dad will accept it. I don’t want to be the Alpha; I just want to be normal. I want to be happy with the everyday living. I see how much stress it puts on dad and mom. I don’t want that for me and my future mate. I will only accept the title if you do not want it. I don’t want any of the triplets to have the title. I think you will be a great Alpha………For goddess sakes close your mouth flies will get in.” Aaron tells me like it is not a huge topic of discussion.

I stare at him with my mouth agape. Not sure what to say. This was a huge bomb. Dad and mom walk in and tell us to come to dad’s office. I feel as if I am floating on air. I am not in my body, and I am a bystander to what is happening. We go into dad’s office and sit down.

“Gianna” dad brings me back and I am so confused.

“Yes?” I ask.

“As you already know, we have been coaching your brother to become the next Alpha, with much resistance. He came to me this morning after his training and refused the title.” Dad says. I look over at Aaron and frown. He lied to me he said he would only refuse if I said I would not take the title. Now dad is saying he already refused. What does this all mean?

“Sweetheart are you with us?” mom asks.

I nod my head.

“Good, so with Aaron refusing the title it is passed down to the next in line. Meaning that you are to be the next Alpha of the Golden Paw Pack because you are female we must consult with the elders and see what will happen with that and when you are able to start training.” Dad says.

“What will happen to Aaron? Will he be banned from the pack and become a rouge?” I ask.

“No honey your brother will remain in the pack or leave if he finds his mate in another pack. He will just not have the title as Alpha, nor would he be able to challenge you for the title in the future.” Mom says.

“Okay, may I be excused? I would like to say hi to the triplets and hang out with my friends.”

“You are excused, but Gianna we need an answer today to take to the elders.” my dad says.

I look over to Aaron who has a reassuring smile on his face.

I walk to the nursery and see a nurse holding Teekon. He is all smiles when he sees me. Icing is in her crib and Nova is in one of the swings giggle her heart out. I know I need to take this title as Alpha, but I don’t know how strong I will be. I will be a female Alpha. Will my pack be ready for a female Alpha? So many questions a running through my mind. I will accept the title and do my best for my pack. I head out and meet my friends preparing for a long debate and screams of excitement from Sierra and Storm. I am unsure how Lucas will take the news as me being the new future Alpha and he as the Beta. I hope it will not ruin our friendship.
