Now let’s go back to the day Archer met Elena.
"She is our mate." His wolf Leo murmured calmly in his mind, “I am so sure this time.”
Archer stared at Elena in disbelief. He had been alone for so long, and Leo had misidentified so many different girls that he thought he could never find her.
And this time, he didn't even specially come for her.
But there she was, laying in a puddle right in front, looking up straightly at him.
She looked dying and ragged. Her pale skin covered in bruises and blood. Her thin face expressionless. And her bloodshot dark eyes burning with a calm, persistent fire.
There was something wrong with --
Before his thought was finished, he saw her eyes closed and her head dropped down in the muddy water.
“Holy shit! Go save her! ” growled Leo toward him, but he didn’t move.
Her miserable state reminded him of Violet. And almost immediately, his heart welled up with anger, sadness, sympathy, and a little contempt. Just as what he felt when he found Violet voluntary to be weak.
Leo sensed his feeling and warned him promptly, "Only an asshole like your father thinks of a woman in this way, buddy."
Leo and he were as close as brothers now, knowing and trusting each other 100%. Archer nodded and took a deep breath, abandoning the idea he ought not to have.
He stepped forward to check on his mate.
Poor thing.
She was nothing but skin and bones, frowning with her eyes closed and her hands over her stomach. But her belly bulged out in a weird way. He got down on his knee and reached out to touch it.“Her rib got broken.” He let out a sigh and pulled her hands away, noticing that her shattered blouse couldn't hide her scratchy breasts. Instantly, he lifted his head and took off his coat to cover her, "She was almost raped."
"Almost?" asked Leo, “How can you be so sure?”
“Not sure yet. But in all these years of war, have you seen any she-wolf get rid of a aroused male?”
Archer stood up and with incredible speed, checked the 2-mile stretch of riverbank, making sure of no suspicious living creatures around. Then he made a flying leap over the hill and found the rapist knocked out on the ridge.
“Look what she’s done to him!” Leo praised toward the bloody scene, “How adorable.”
“Yeah, but not enough to me.” Archer got close to the criminal and SNAP! He broke his dirty hands.
The guard woke up from the severe pain, but passed out in the next second as Archer stomped his legs off.
Archer tied his limp hands and feet together, twisted the bastard into a wreath of flesh, and hung him from the nearest tree.
“Beautiful.” Leo generously complimented him, "You've found the best way to let off steam."
With a smile, Archer jumped down and picked up his Luna, "Let’s go. Our mate needs to see the doc."

He took Elena back to his pack.
After careful examination, the doctor shook his head with a heavy sigh, “Bruises and scratches everywhere. Malnourished. And unknown toxins inside. What has she been through?"
“I won’t forget to ask her when she woke up.” Archer answered, “What should we do now?”
“Lydia and I has cleaned and dressed her wound. Just take her back to your room.” The stern and warmhearted doc nudged Archer's chest, "Stay with her yourself, OK? ‘Cause her wolf is disconnecting from her. Only her mate can speed up her recovery."
“What?” Archer frowned, “She just beat a guy. It’s impossible for a little girl to fight like that without a wolf.”
Doc shrugged, “I don’t know. But her wolf couldn’t be detected. ”
“Well, it will be the second question I’m gonna ask her. Anything else, doc?” Archer carried Elena and turn to step out of the infirmary.
“Um...yes.”
Archer rolled his eyes and turned back around, “Yes?” As the doc got older, he always needed to be reminded to give the whole medical advice.
“You’d better take a bath with her.” The old man stared at him in all seriousness and held up three fingers, “At least for 3 days.”
***
“I’m not sure it’s good advice.” Leo was rattling in Archer’s mind, “You know how victims of sexual assault react when they regain consciousness. We’ve seen a lot through the war!”
“I know." said Archer, but he didn’t stop taking off Elena’s clothes.
“She will be scared of you, man! You’ve waited for her for so long but she will hate to be with you! Think about that!”
Leo sounded like eager to bite him, but Archer replied calmly, “She won’t. Remember? She beat the bastard herself. She’s strong and tough.” He removed the last piece of Elena's rags and took a deep breath as he saw her totally naked, “She’ll be different from the victims. And I’ll be different from the assholes without respect for ladies. I know what to do, OK?”
Leo gave a reluctant grunt and finally agreed. He dived deep into Archer's mind, "I'll go link her wolf for you and see what happened to her."
"Thanks, bro." With the dialogue finished, Archer looked up.
He saw Elena and himself in a full-length mirror. She was so short and thin, and he couldn't even feel her weight as he was carrying her. Her skin looked bloodless and lusterless. Her hair was dry as straw. And her face, black and blue, wrinkled from the pain.
Honestly, she can hardly be called a beauty at this point. Especially while Archer is tall, well-built, and healthy. When in the same picture, they seemed like a mismatched couple.
But she would be fine. He’d make her fine.
"Come on, babe. Time for treatment." Archer started to take off his own clothes.
"Youare so stiff and curled up like a baby. It's a sign of insecurity. Doc said that. The hot water, and my embrace--”Archerchuckledas he explained the treatment to Elena, “-- canmimic the fluid inawomb. You’ll be warm and safe in my watery arms." She loveshis monologue. Sounds gentle. Elena listened with blurred consciousness, notopening her eyes. She felt herself being placed into a large hard container, and hernaked back pressed against the cold tiles, makingher shiver. But the next second, she was lifted a little and a thick, warm body served as her cushion. "Sorry, I should have asked Lydia to pourthewater infirst." Creak. The sound of a faucet being turned open. The hot flow came through it, slowly floodingover her. But her skin was too soft and thin with so many cuts and scratches, th
Elena woke up to find herself in a soft bed, covered with a white quilt, clean, warm and comfortable. She sat up straightenedalertly. This was not her room. She hadn't slept in such a nice bed in a long time. Where was she? "You're awake!" A beautiful girl with brown hair and green eyes came inwith a food tray, lookingat her with a surprisedsmile. Elena stared at her warily and didn't say anything back. "Don't be panic, you're safe.”The girl said softlywith understanding in her eyes, “My name is Lydia,Archer's Interior Officer. What’s your name?” Elena stared at her for a moment, deciding that just telling her firstname wouldn’t give away her identity. “...Elena.” “Nice to meet you, Elena. We’re happy to have you here."Lydia gave her the most friendly smile, “So is Archer.” “Who is Archer?...Aw.”Elena cleared her throat, realizingher voice was as rough
"Now we know who our Luna is." After relaying Lydia’s mind-link report to Archer, Issac concluded. “Elena, the daughter of the Dark River Pack’s Beta, and the only girl who escaped from she-wolves trafficking.” “Thank Moon Goddess.”Archer murmured with one hand on his forehead, “She had a twin sister who was sacrificed to the 50-year-old Alpha by their beta parents. Maybe they tried to sacrifice her too.” Leo grounded his fangs in his mind, “Don’t forget Bella, dude. That’s her best and only friend and they sold her too. WHAT A DEN OF MONSTERS!” “I know.”Archer soothed him and turned to Issac, who continued his report, “Alpha Xavier is the one behind that. Lilian is just one of his victims.” “Our friends of other species also found girls missing.”said Archer, “We should pay a visit to some of them for more clues.” "Speaking of clues, this is what the mermaids got for us.”Issac handed Archer a file, “They lurked
It’s him. Alpha Archer. Elena staredat him in silence, panting and sensing Laurel strikingher heart-wall in huge excitement. Lup-dup! Lup-dup! She pressed on her left breast, trying to use all her strength to block her wolf, but with little success. “Why are you here?” asked Elena, shivering unknowingly. Archer wondered if she knew the look on her face at thismoment:alittlewaryoutof suspicion, andso much longing forrejoice being saved. “I’m here for you.” He answered quietly. They stared at each other for a moment. Elena was the first to look awayandexhaled heavily,"Thank you for everythingyou helped." “Hmm. Sounds like you’re saying goodbye.” Chucklingwith interest, Archer gotback a little to spare some space for her. Elena gavehim a quick glance and sat up as he tucked a cushion behind her. “I’m not.
“Why are you males always so sure when you talk about mating?” Elena murmured, literally confused, “Xavier promised Eliana to mate with her, but the fact was, he just marked her and convinced her to believe that was mating. And he still sleeps with other women!” She looked away from his gaze, “Dad matedwith mom but he seldom treats her well either. So what is mating exactly? Just sex?” “I was confused too.” Archer said, “And I’m so glad that I was not the only one confused with this question.” “Was?” His words drew Elena’s eyes back, “You’re not confused any more?” Archer grabbed her little hand and put it on his chest. His heart pounding under her palm, as heavily and fast as hers. “I don’t think I am, after I find my mate.” Elena gasped and withdrewher hand, lowering her blushed face. “It'sthe first time it beats like this.” whispered Archer, “SoI can be sure. But I don’t know Xavier, or other males. I never d
Archer led Elena into the largest restaurantof the Silver Mountain Pack. Along the way, a number of passersby cast amazedglances at Elena, making her feel less than comfortable. The dress did suit her, and with adequate nutrition and sleep, she was looking good. But it had been a long time sincethe last timeshe waswell-dressed. Every now and then she pulled downthe hem of the dress to cover her slender thighs. Dressing like this couldn’t makeher feel safe. "Anything wrong?" Archer asked with concern, noticing her depression and silence. "Yes." Elena replied honestly, "The dress could get me in trouble." “How come?”Archer stopped and looked around, “You are impressing everyone.” “That’s the problem.”said Elena, “I’m not supposed to draw so much attention to myself.” Archer frowned, but still shieldedher from the curious stares,"You’re pretty. Pretty girls will naturally d
Elena rubbed herbelly, let out a small burp, still unable to believe that she was convinced by aman. It was her first time toget fullbecause ahearty mealmightmake her sleepy. She had to keep awake all the time in the Dark River Pack. But in front of Archer, she knew she could fall asleep without caution. Shelifted her eyes and glanced at him. Archer never took his eyes off her, which madeher heart burn. “What are you looking atanyway?” Archer smiled and reached out and wiped the sticky cheese fromthe corner of her mouth. “My favorite.” With that, he licked the cheese off his finger, with his eyes still on her. Elena gasped, feeling the burning point transfer from her heart to her vagina. She didn’t understand what happened at first, but the feeling was too strong to bemistaken. She was turned on. Suddenly. Archer wasn’t on purpose to start the flirtation. It w
Archer took two days with Issac to visit some friends from other species and races. As he knew, they were cooperating with the Dark River Pack after the wars for a living. “I’m always wondering how you knew so many friends.”Issac said admiringly, “Teach me. Where do you learn your social skills from?” “Travelling?”Archer laughed, “I don’t have any skills. I just help people who need help.” “Yeah. But none of rogues travel so many places like you.” "You don’t know.” “Right.”Issac laughed too. What he admired most about Archer was his humility. Archer was the best Alpha and the best male wolf he’d ever known, but he never showed off. “Now let’s see what we’ve got.”Archer said. They found three species that recently had a contact with Alpha Xavier: The unicorns -- they had the ability to recognize virgins from all over the species. The phoenixes -- they got little girls’young voice in
Elena didn’t know when he stopped; she seemed to pass out briefly. All she remembers is that when she woke up, Archer was holding her, stroking her swollen lower lip with his fingertips, and made another gentle joke, “You do need to eat more or you won't even be able to resist my kisses.”"I'm just lacking sleep." She grunted. She had been up all night last night, packing her bags with Lydia."Yes, so I can't drain you any further." He helped her sit up and placed the reheated roast in her hand, "Eat, then let’s go find Bella's hut. It's getting late and we need to stay overnight there." He tapped the tip of her nose with his finger, "Just for sleep. Keep your fantasies."She blushed and didn't say anything. After finishing her meal, Elena led the way to the hut, and they arrived at the tiny straw house without any danger."It was Bella who chose to build it here. She said the terrain was suitable and there was a wate
Early in the next morning, Elena, Archer and Issac set off for the Dark River Pack, while Lydia stayed at the Silver Mountain to continue her daily duties. Before they left, they discussed their division of labor: Archer and Elena would follow the plan they both agreed on at the intimate full moon night, to go deep inside the pack and rescue as many victims as possible; Issac would station outside the border forest, collecting intelligence from the Full Moon Island and preparing to and receive victims with the mermaids lurking on the bank of the Dark River. Upon arriving at the border, Elena metOlivia. "Hello, Archer's Luna!" The gorgeous and shrewd siren queen, still lazily lying on the reef, looked at her up and down before flashing a meaningful smile at Archer, "You're so lucky that the moon goddess didn't assign you a she-wolfunworthy of you to continue your suffering. " "I am. And hopefully I won't be unworthy of my Luna." Archer
Elena’s conjecture was too scary to make her companionsbelieve, but she had a reason. “Xavier was never a good father.” With everyone sitting around a table in human form, she started to tell her previous Alpha’s story: Xavier had a Luna before, who was called Camilla. He mated with her because she was the best Gamma of the Dark River Pack. Her courage, battle-wisdomand maternal qualitywere exactly whatan Alpha sufferingfrom years of war needed. And Xavier himself hadbeen august, resourcefuland far-sight as well. Under his leadershipandCamilla’s defence, the Dark River Pack was so united and concerted that they could always win, not annihilatedby other packs trying to expand their territories. Camilawas Xavier’s perfect mate. But Elena didn’t havea chance to meet this busy super warrior until her funeral. Shediedin a battle for protecting her son Julian. He was
The two couples assembled at the auditorium. Elenafelt a little awkward when she met Lydia’s insightful eyes. Congratulations. Lydiamouthed ather with a slysmile, confirming to Elena that she’d been told about what her husband witnessed at their room door. Elena lowered her head, refusing to show her happiness, although her rosy face and pouted mouth hanging a bashful smile had already revealed her mood. “OK, everyone is here. And here’s what we got.” Issac opened an eye-link, which allowed Archer and Lydia tosee the memory video recorded and sent by the mermaids. “See the boat leaving the bank? Now listen.” With a swipe of two fingers in the air, he seemed to magnify something. While the others were staring at the invisible picture, Elena frowned confusedly, “Um...Sorry but please hold on for a sec. What are we looking at?” Issac turned to her with a numb face, “Xavier’s b
When Elena woke up again, Archer was asleep beside her. They were both naked, sharing the same quilt. He contributed his shoulder to her as a pillow, two thick arms around her, a long leg across her body, like a little boy holding his beloved teddy bear. Funnily enough, they had intimate interaction for so many times, but she had never looked closely at his face. Perhaps it was because his eyes were too deep and too fiery, hiding feelings she could not understand or bear. But now, with his eyes closed, she could indulge herself without burden and take a good look at this man, who had been always considerate to her from the very beginning. He was perfect as a statue carved by the most brilliant artist. He had a square face, high brow bones and a straight nose, displaying an unmistakable manliness. He didn't have a beard, but he was obviously in good health with abundant male hormone. So only after one night, his stubble had sprouted, which tickled her as his chin pressed against the c
Elena climbed onto Archer’s thigh like a nimble cat, never missing any reactions from him. The man beneath her couldn't help but tensed his muscles and breathed heavily when she just pressed her hands against his abs; his pants even bulged a spot immediately. She gripped the bulge out of curiosity, and Archer gasped so heavily as if he was startled a lot, “THIS would be too fast, babe.”He tried to pull her hand away but she stopped him. “You said I could try anything. Is it a lie?” Archer’s turquoiseeyes almost turned greenwith a turmoil, “No. But I’d suggest you slow down.” “OK.”The look in his eyes was unfamiliar, so Elena decided to accept his suggestion to avoid any danger. She embedded herself in his embrace with a hand climbing up his thick shoulder, and looked over it. There was a long scar on his back. “What is it?”She scratched the scar slightly with her nail. Archer closed his eye
Elena wrapped her arms around her legs, sitting in front of the French window. Tonight is another full moon night. The glass reflects her in the moonlight. Her hair had become longer, which she just found natural curly. It curled around her small face and fell over her thin shoulders, making her look so much like Eliana now, a beautiful doll, only she didn’t dye her hair blonde. Elena's heart swelled with mixed emotions when she thought of Eliana. Eliana andElenawere inseparable as children, doing everything together. They shareda room, playing games, chatting witheach other without reserve, and exchanging their imaginations about future life, especially future mates. Twins are telepathic, seeing each other as the only soul mate in the world. Eliana and she did the same when they were children, until Eliana discovered that their fate was in Xavier's hands. But Elena wouldn't give in, so she severed their mind bond. That was a f
After finishing a new round of exploration of the entrance to the Full Moon Island, Archer burst out to the surface and floated on the sea, squinting at the dazzling sunlight and thinking about his Luna. She was in his pack now, training hard according to the training plan he had set up, with her wolf. More than a month had passed since the last meeting in the auditorium, and he still hadn't seen her wolf. From what Lydia said, it was a rare little red wolf, which he had only seen it once in his life, even rarer than a silver wolf. Crimson, cherry and orange made up her gradient coat color with a tuft of snow-white fur on her belly, just like his. What a sweet coincidence, they were just made for each other. But she just wouldn't let him see her wolf, even though he had made no reservations about her. In annoyance, he rolled over and faced down like a floating corpse, trying to let the sea drown his disappointment. "You don't have no reservations about her, b
A reward. That was something she never had had; her life was more like a punishment before she met him. What would it be? Elena didn’t like Archer’s dominant attitude. But she couldn’t resist his temptation, and her own curiosity. So still, she talked as he asked: “Kittymusthaveshifted for the first time last night. ” She explained how she got such a conclusion according to her disastrous past. “You have a big security breach. ”She looked around from the wolves to Archer, “You appoint young girls as enforcers to station at the border, including those who don’t even have a wolf.” “Kitty is as competent as us! It doesn’t matter whether she’s shifted or not.”Ada protested. “Sure she is, but Kitty shouldn’t have been on duty this year since every wolf knows that the general shift happens at her age and the first shift will make her suffer.”Elena replied coldly, “Your pack is too safe for a
