Isaiah P.O.V.
Earlier that day
A man knocks on my door, where we all are gathered to go down to breakfast together. We have been discussing last night's events since sunrise, and I am still unsure how to think or feel? The King and his family are hiding something, or rather someone. I was placed besides the Princess, who by all means is beautiful, but also very selfish and entitled. She is spoiled in every sense of the word, and I did not like her from the start. Especially not when I asked her about her sister's illness, and she scoffed and told me she has no real sister. That the girl is tolerated as the first Queen’s child, but nothing more than that. I exchange a look with my mother, who then politely asks about the first Queen. Princess Briell laughs a shrill laughter that attracts all the guests around the table.
“What seems to be the matter, daughter?” King Edor asked, and she explained the issue. King Edor paled slightly.
“My first wife was sadly killed by our enemies..”
“Oh please! She was executed because she refused to give up her marriage so you could marry mom instead. And you hated her guts, especially when you found out Poison Ivy is not your child, but the forbidden bastard hybrid girl she had with some lone wolf dude.” Princess Briell said with an eye roll. Everyone gasped, but I secretly celebrated.
“BRIELL!” Her mother screamed, but the Princess just shrugged and smiled sweetly at me.
“He needs to know the truth. We have a whore in the family. Hope you don’t mind your Grace.” This was an interesting twist, and it seemed like the spoiled little daddy’s girl had some things to say. I wondered how much I could get out of her.
The answer had been disturbing to say the least. I just had to show her the slightest bit of interest, and then mention Ivy and she would ramble on about how unfair it was she hadn’t been killed with her mom, and how she was so ugly, stupid and useless. I found out they were using her as a personal slave, and she stayed in a room by the kitchens. I was prepared to march down there last night, but I stayed back to play the political game of chess with my host. He tried multiple times to suggest an alliance between me and Princess Briell, which made the girl almost purr in response. I wanted to gag. Apollo wanted to rip her eyes out. But I just smiled and proposed to talk about it in the morning. That such important matters should not be taken lightly, and we needed to furrowly discuss his proposal and how we would manage it. I explained how mates work, and he told me his daughter had already severed all ties with the commoner who was her destined love. Which only further proved my suspicion about the King being a cruel and egotistical man.
That morning we were welcomed at the breakfast table, and Princess Briell plopped herself down beside me, which mom immediately sensed was not at all what I wanted. She politely, but sternly told her to fuck off, and sat down besides me instead. Dad sat on my other side, which was not received well.
“My daughter wanted to get to know you, King Isaiah. Perhaps one of your esteemed parents could sit on the other side of the table.” Mom gave Queen Ashti a quick look, and ignored her question. I hid a smile by drinking some of my juice, before I answered.
“This is the first time I’ve had breakfast with my parents in a long while, Queen Ashti. I apologize for their tardiness, but perhaps you and the Princess will excuse them this once?” She smiled, seemingly pleased with my response. Princess Briell on the other hand was not as impressed as her mother.
“When we are married, this will not be how we do things! I will not be disrespected by some lowlife wannabe former Queen.” Mom narrows her eyes, and the cup in the Princess's hands explodes into a million pieces. She screams about her ruined dress, while staff from all over the dinner hall are rushing in to help. Dad’s eyes cloud over, and mom snicker. I just shake my head and eat my food in peace.
After breakfast King Edor summoned me to a meeting - mano a mano, as he said. Meaning it’s just the two of us. Dad and Aiden promised to get looking for the mystery girl, who we knew from yesterday was residing in the kitchens.
I walked into the King’s office, hoping this would be brief, but he had other plans.
“So, King Isaiah. As I had to disappoint your animalistic ways by retracting my offer on taking home my step daughter, I thought to make it up to you. And I have a proposal of marriage in mind. My legitimate daughter cannot inherit the Kingdom, so that will go to my son.”
“You have a son?” I blurt out, the surprise of this revelation too much for my otherwise impeccable polite mask. The King gives me an annoyed look.
“Yes. He is 10, and no you will not be meeting him. He is currently visiting family in the country.” This is actually the first truth he has told me, but something also tells me he is in the country because of me and our visit here.
“You said a proposal of marriage?” I ask, trying to get back to the topic at hand. I need a way to let him down without burning bridges. We might need his goodwill some day.
“Yes! My daughter cannot be Queen here, but she was born and raised to be Queen someday. We just had to find the perfect match. She'll be your Queen.” He says matter of factly. I raise an eyebrow.
“King Edor..”
“I have the contract drawn up here. You just need to sign and we’ll be on our way with the ceremony this afternoon, and you can take her back with you tomorrow.” Everything turns inside me at the thought of Briell being my wife. She is not Queen material, and I am definitely not the snobbish or fussy type, but this girl would be eaten alive by my ranked females alone. They would never accept her as their Luna and Queen. I need to get out of this. An idea comes to mind, and I smile while taking the papers.
“I’ll have to summon my Gamma’s brother. He is a diplomat and a lawyer to boot. He’ll look over the contract for me, and we can make the necessary changes.” King Edor frowns.
“This is not up for discussion or change, King Isaiah. It’s a take it or leave it kind of deal.”
“Fine, then I'd rather leave it.” He scowls. “I know you find me primitive, and think me and my people live in caves still and eat the deer right when we hunt it down, but contrary to the popular opinion we shifters are actually well educated and rather distinguished. You would know that if you had tried to get to know me and my people. But you have chosen to be narrow minded and selfish, which is showing to be a giant flaw in your family. I will bid you a good day now, King Edor.”
“Now wait just a minute. I have said no such thing..”
“As I had to disappoint your animalistic ways by retracting my offer on taking home my step daughter, I thought to make it up to you.” I smile. “Your words just half an hour ago. My “animalistic ways”, as you call them, have not been as offended as when you actually proposed I should take the first girl home, but I let the doubt be your benefit and thought you might have a sincere reason to ask such a thing. Now I know you just thought of me as an animal just because I have a wolf counterpart.”
“Alright, call on your adviser then.” I just raise an eyebrow and mind-link Adam to come to the office. The King looks at me like I’m an idiot, opening his mouth again, probably to say something else incredibly rude, when Adam knocks on the door. I open it, gesturing for him to come inside and explaining what happened until now.
He takes the papers and looks them over with a critical eye.
We have been here for the last three hours, and this is getting ridiculous. I’m glad I asked Adam to help me because the contract was a joke, and it simply gave Briell rights to take everything from me and give it to her father, throwing me out of my home and denouncing me as King. He tried to dismiss it, but the more Adam read and criticized, the more red in the face he became.
We were discussing the word sound of some paragraph or other when my dad mind-links me.
‘You better come, son. We are on our way back to your quarters with the girl. We found her. She’s been beaten, molested, starved and abused in ways we haven’t even discovered yet. I have a strange feeling about her too.’ I stand abruptly.
“I need to go. Adam, come on. The contract is off.” I turn with Adam hot on my heel, and we both ignore the protest of the King and the man he himself summoned to help as well.
‘Dad, where are you?’
‘Just follow my scent. I don’t know which hallway, but we are close to the one we’re staying in.’ He sounds very concerned, so I speed walk to where his scent leads me, but when we get nearer another scent invades my senses. Apollo jumps up in joy, howling and jumping around.
‘Mate, mate, mate! He has our mate. She is here. She…’ Apollo stops when we see dad carrying a badly beaten girl in his arms. I stop dead in my tracks, my heart shattering. She is absolutely gorgeous under all the blood and dirt. What the actual fuck happened to her? Apollo briefly takes over and growls thunderously, shaking the hallway and maybe the entire castle.
“Son, what..”
“MATE!” Apollo roars, surprising my dad and scaring our mate. She shakes in dad's arms, and I silently scold my wolf for scaring her. He whimpers with guilt, but he is absolutely outraged with the state of his mate. I hurry to dad, reaching for my beautiful girl, but he shakes his head, his eyes in pain. He knows what I am feeling, but he doesn’t seem to want to let her go. She is mine! Not his. The possessiveness momentarily takes over, before I get my mind cleared. This is my dad, and he is helping. I reach for her again.
“Isaiah, we need to get her to your mother. I can carry her. I’m not sure it’s a good idea.. Oh for Goddess sake, boy!” I didn't hear him out before I have shifted her over into my own arms where she belonged! She belongs with me, in my arms and no one else’s. The sparks from the matebond are even stronger than I anticipated and for a second I just relish the feeling of her in my arms. I look down, and my eyes lock on her blue orbs. They are even more blue in reality than in the dream. Fuck they are gorgeous! I could get lost in them forever, but right now I need to get her back to my room and my mom.
“Don’t worry, little faerie, we are almost at my quarters. My mother will help you!” I tell her in a tender voice. She is so fragile, and I want her to feel safe with me! She is safe now. No one will ever hurt her again. No one will ever touch her.
She passes out in my arms before we reach my room, and after I put her down in my bed, I have to leave the room. Mom takes over, knowing I need some air. I want to be by her side, Apollo does as well, but we both also wants to know what the fuck happened to her. And the only way we can do that is to seek the answers ourselves. Milo joins me as I head back to the kitchen.
“Aiden, Adam and your father are keeping guard. Although aunt Isa would be strong enough to keep everyone away from her.” He is not wrong, which for a second makes me want to smile. Then her battered body pops up again and the smile is long gone. “She’s your mate?” He asks and I nod.
“You heard?”
“I heard you. I think the whole damn Kingdom did.” I snort, as we turn to enter the kitchen where the slimy man from yesterday is already yelling at people.
“HOW COULD YOU LET HER LEAVE? SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO GO TO THE KING! HE’LL BE FURIOUS! WHAT DID YOU TELL THOSE CREATURES?”
“Not as furious as I am.” I say behind him, my voice deep as it mixes with Apollo. The man jumps with a pathetic yelp before turning slowly. I am going to enjoy dragging answers out of him, which proves to be easy enough with the willing help of the kitchen maids!
When I’m done, I hurry back to my room. I need to speak to my mate and find out what the hell is going on here. There is no doubt she is coming home with me, but I need to hear her version. The crap and bull I was just served by that slimy fucker and his companions in the kitchen doesn’t do anything other that fuel my anger.
As I come back I can hear my mother scream at someone, and when I round the corner a castle worker is sulking outside my room, and speaking to someone else over a phone. I hide, so he doesn’t see me. Yeah, I really need to speak to my mate and find out what is going on in this godforsaken Kingdom.
Ivy P.O.V.“What is your name, little faerie?” Mr. Hot and handsome asks me. It should be absolutely forbidden to look so good. I swallow several times, but no words want to come out. Why am I like this? Normally I wouldn’t have trouble giving an answer or some sassy remark. He sighs, dragging a chair to the bed, sitting down in that instead of on the bed as his mother did. Some part of me is very glad he seems to be respectful and mindful of me, and the other small part of me is very disappointed that he didn’t crawl into bed with me. “I understand if you don’t want to talk to me, but I am only interested in helping. You are my mate. My destined love. I wont ever hurt you! I promise.” I take a deep breath. Raven is urging me to talk to him. And she is right. If he was chosen by the Gods to be mine, then I should at least tell him my name. But fear and worry swirls in my stomach. What if he learns of my heritage? Will he dismiss me, or maybe something worse? How would I survive that?
Isaiah P.O.V. Outside my guest room, Aiden and Adam meet me. Mom probably mind-linked them. “We’re going with you. Your dad and Milo can help protect the Luna.” I raise an eyebrow. “Your mom explained the situation, and the mate part I already knew.” Aiden says with a smirk. He’s an idiot, but he is also one of my best friends, and having him and Adam with me can’t hurt. Adam is the diplomat amongst us, which is definitely why he’s coming instead of Milo or my dad. We walk down the hallways in silence, and it dawns on me we don’t know where to meet the King. I sigh. He’s probably going to be either in the throne room or his office. We’ll try his office first. As we walk along my anger rises. I keep thinking about what mom said in the doorway, and the sheer audacity of the King irks me, but when that audacity is regarding my mate, I am fucking livid! He says she is his property and I should hand her over. Like hell I will! She is mine! My mate and my one true love, and he will neve
Ivy P.O.V.The movement and slight buzzing of the car is really relaxing, and combined with the warmth and safe feeling of my mate, I’m in a cocoon of something I haven’t felt since before my mom died; happy and not concerned. It’s a weird, but welcomed feeling. I wonder if I am going to be feeling like this from now on? Maybe not all the time, but more than before. ‘It’s not really hard to feel more safe anywhere else than that shithole.’ Raven interjects with a snort, and I struggle to not giggle out loud. ‘I can’t believe the King actually gave permission for Isaiah to take me with him.’ The thought hits me like a ton of bricks, and my eyes fly open. Isaiah is leaned back in his seat with his eyes closed. I’m battling with myself whether or not to disturb him with my question, when he opens his eyes and looks down into mine. A slow smile forms on his perfect lips. “I can feel you staring, little faerie.” He says, and I blush deeply. Oh great! I disturbed him either way. “Uh, uh
Isaiah P.O.V.Leading my mate into the dining room, her arm comes around mine seeking my protection, I think. Everyone in there quiets down when we enter, and Ivy looks around with big eyes. Maybe this is not a good idea on the first night here. Maybe we should just go to our room and eat in there, just the two of us? The thought barely enters my mind before my mate is stolen from my side by my mom, who introduces her to everyone and leads her to one of the available chairs. Ivy looks over her shoulder with apologetic eyes, but I just smile at her and move behind them towards the table. If anyone dropped a pin now, we would hear it hit the ground. I have never, as long as I can remember back, thought I would experience people being so quiet and calm. “Everyone, this is Ivy. Ivy, this is everyone.” Mom says gesturing to the table. Ivy nods to them, and one by one they introduce themselves. “And you already met Elise, Hunter, Gabriel and Flora.” Mom concludes, sitting down with Ivy. M
Ivy P.O.V.The light snore in my ear momentarily confuses me, until I feel the arms wrapped around me and the sparks traveling all over my body. I sit up in horror, thinking for a second it’s someone I don’t know, only to see Isaiah blinking owlishly at my sudden movement. I breathe a sigh of relief, before a new worry overtakes me. Why am I cuddled up against Isaiah? Did we do something while I slept? Did he take advantage of me after all? I look down at myself, the oversized t-shirt still in place. I lift it slightly to see the panties are there as well. Huh?! I guess we haven’t done anything except for sleeping. ‘You rolled over last night, and mate just protected us with his strong and delicious arms.’ Raven says, barking a laugh at my panic. ‘So, we didn’t do anything? He kept his promise?’ She nods in my mind before curling up again. She is not the most talkative of wolves, but she is my best friend and has been there for me so many times. I know she is always here when I nee
Isaiah P.O.V.Ivy and I enter the kitchen, walking hand in hand. I am proud of her! She has been doing amazingly ever since we found her in the castle, and now she is facing the pack just a day into being here. At the usual table the others are waiting for us. We usually only use the private Alpha dining room for Sunday dinners, and private holidays. I sit down at the end of the table as the Alpha, and Ivy sits on my right. Everyone greets us before going back to their conversation, which is nice because it shows how they are trying to take the heat off my mate. She was the sole center of attention last night, and today she is part of the family and they don’t have to look at her all the time. I stand, asking Ivy what she would like to eat and she just cocks her head. “I can choose?” She asks, her eyes holding that innocent disbelief I adore and hate all at the same time. I keep forgetting how horrible her life has been! “Sure! Come on, little faerie, let’s get a plate and choose
Ivy P.O.V. When Isaiah said his sister and cousin take this shopping thing seriously, I thought he was maybe joking or trying to exaggerate to make a point, but he did neither. As soon as we were in the mall Elise and Lillith took my arms and steered me in the direction of a store with gadgets. I look over my shoulder, confusion overwhelming me. “I thought we were going to buy clothes?” I ask, but the girls just shake their heads. “Isaiah said you need to be hooked up, girl. That means we are going about this right. You need a phone and a computer at the very least, and we’ll probably get you more.” Lilith explaines while Elise flags down a salesman. Isaiah walks up behind me, possibly feeling my confusion and nerves. “Relax, little faerie. Let us spoil you.” He whispers in my ear, kissing my cheek. “But this is not necessary, Isaiah.” I whisper back, but he just leads me along the rows of computers and phones, following Lillith, Elise and the salesman. “Yes it is. You are going
King Edor P.O.V. “Your Grace?!” I look up from the paperwork on my desk. “What is it?” I ask with a frown. They know I don’t want to be disturbed, but here we are. “The Queen is asking for your presence in the throne room.” He says with a bow, and it takes everything in me not to scream in frustration. Ever since that awful Wolf King was here Briell and Asthi have been insufferable. Briell doesn’t shut up about the unfairness of her stepsister being his mate, and how it should be her as his Queen, and Ashti has tried to find out why I was so reluctant to let my stepdaughter go. She doesn’t need to know, which I have implored in everyone who knows just a smidge about my plans with Ivy.“I am busy.” I say, dismissing him with a handwave. He opens his mouth, but apparently thinks better of it and leaves the office. Good for him, or I would have turned him into something nasty. The paperwork cannot occupy my mind now that I have been reminded of Ivy, and her face keeps popping up in m
Hi all my lovely readers. This is where the new book following Astra, Jasper, Jonas, Flora and Jenna will be updated. It has been decided that the book is so tightly knit to the second book, that I have to update it this way, which also means I will not start updating until the new year, so I have a bundle of chapers to start out with, and it will be a project on the side as I am also looking at signing something new and exciting. But don't worry, I will not let that affect my quality or updating rate, as I hope the extra time until I start it regularly, will give me the opportunity to uodate 3 times a week as I use to. That was the sereious part. Now for someting more related to the new book. After the war is won, and Isaiah and Ivy say goodbye to Jasper, Astra, Jonas, Flora and Jenna, everything seems to be fine. They know Jenna has been acting kinda weird and clingy towards her children and Flora, but everyone has been brushing it off to grief over her mate's death. Jasper howev
Isaiah P.O.V.Ophelia turned out to be a great asset to our motley crowd. And the kids immediately took to her, finding her training fun and relaxing at the same time. Eli, Gabe and the twins understood the importance of practicing meditation and other forms of mental defense. Emmet and Ilina just thought it fun and different, although they had a harder time sitting still both of them were determined to be as good as their siblings. Most of the time Ilina fell asleep during meditations, which Ophelia said was fine. We fell into a good routine after Ophelia also joined us, and soon it was time to prepare the kids to leave the Realm of Magic. We were all sad to go, but I think Ivy was the saddest of us all. She really felt at home here between her parents and all the wonderful creatures we got to meet. On our last day we decided to bring the kids back to the stream, giving Ophelia and Archeron time to pack and be ready for the next day. We have been here for so long, the kids kinda fo
Ivy P.O.V. We have been here for a little over a month now, although I know that is not even half of that in the Mortal Realm, I cannot help but feel a bit bad for just leaving everything to Aiden, Alisa and Isaiah’s parents. They have been doing a great job so far, and only had to call for me twice until now to help solve disputes in the pack, and once for something regarding another pack and a treaty violation. I love to help, and it was nice to see everyone again. Isabella also had some time to yell at me for getting pregnant again, cry because this is definitely the last one and almost faint when I said it’s twins. One of each. We had the doctor another scan just before they called me for the treaty thing, and we got the news. Isaiah is over the moon, and the younger kids are beginning to understand that momma has to be a bit more careful because of the babies in her belly. Ilina has been so loving ever since I came a little further along. Mom says it’s because she can sense them
Isaiah P.O.V.“Well, congratulations your Graces, you are indeed expecting twins again. I understand you wish to have them in your own home, which I understand. You should still be able to enjoy your stay here, but take it easy and with the slightest discomfort, please come see me again.” The female doctor, a former witch, says with a small smile. “I will monitor you from here, but perhaps it’ll be best if someone also notifies your doctor back in the Mortal Realm?” I nod, looking at Ivy, who seems far away. I take her hand, bringing it to my mouth. She turns her head in my direction, but she does not seem to actually see me. “Doc, may we please have a moment?” I ask, also asking Eli to go back to his grandparents. He looks at his mother with deep concern, and I know the empathic side of him is tapping into her, feeling everything she is. “I got her Eli. Please see your grandparents for now, son.” I tell him, leaning down and kissing his hair. He nods silently, following the doctor o
10 years laterIvy P.O.V.“KIDS I AM GIVING YOU 5 SECONDS TO GET OUT HERE, OR WE ARE GOING WITHOUT YOU! 5, 4, 3.. Thank you!” I’m standing outside the packhouse with Isiah, Eli who is 10, and knows by now not to piss off his mother when we’re going somewhere and our youngest, Ilina who is 2 and sleeping in her stroller. Isaiah shakes his head at me, and kisses my temple. I sigh. I know I’m more impatient today than usual, and that says something, because I’m always impatient when we’re going somewhere, but today is very special and we’re going to be gone for quite some time as a family. Out of house rushes our other children; Gabe who is 8, and the actual spitting image of the uncle he is named after, the twins Isobel and Elain who is 6 and finally our 4 years old Emmet. I put my hands on my hips and look them all over, while Eli and Isaiah snickers behind me. They’re just happy they are not the ones who are in trouble this time. “I am blaming us for being late solely on all of you
Isaiah P.O.V.We table this discussion for later, and follow dad out the door and out back where a ton of chairs is placed facing a small decorated platform for me and Ivy. I cannot wait to see her in her dress. I know she is a little self conscious right now, but she is just gorgeous and I love her so much! She is going to be a vision, I am sure of it. We take our place as everyone is finding their seats in the crowd. Aunt Jenna smiles at Jonas and taps a seat beside her. She has placed herself in the front, and with enough chairs free so Jonas, Astra and Alisa can sit with her I think. I just raise an eyebrow and make a last minute decision. “Actually, aunt Jonas is in my bridal party, so he is standing today.” I tell her politely, winking at Jonas. I mindlink Ivy, telling her about my abrupt change and explaining why. She laughs over the mindlink and tells me she’ll inform the others. Flora was made head of the flower girls, and had to stay with them, saving her from my aunt as
Isaiah P.O.V.“A toast to the happy couple! Congratulations, Isaiah! You really are a lucky man.” Aiden says, smiling at me. We are sitting at the breakfast table, just us guys. I raise my champagne glass to him, toasting in silence. The rest say ‘hear hear’ and drink with us. We are having a great morning so far, but I am starting to feel the small nervous jitters of excitement. This day has been long coming, but is finally here. Today I am going to make Ivy my wife! She is already the mother to our son, and seeing her take that role with such passion has been one of the greatest moments in my life! I know she thinks I am a nervous wreck when it comes to Eli, but I just can’t help it. With everything we have been through since I found her in the Fae Kingdom, I am going to keep myself on my toes regarding our son. No one is ever going to hurt him. I know that for sure because they will have to face the wrath of my soon-to-be wife, and I’ll handle the leftovers, but still. He is our so
Ivy P.O.V. Two weeks later We’ve had our little Eli with us for two weeks now and he is just a little angel! I must admit as much as motherhood scared me, and we had some minor setbacks, such as I am not able to breastfeed him, I really love being a mother. The thing with breastfeeding was a hard blow as I had heard so much good about it, but I was just not producing milk. Isaiah has been a trooper navigating my hot mess of emotions - going from high to low faster than Elsa chose to let it go in Frozen. We finally had some quiet time to sit down and watch some movies and be a family - meaning a Disney marathon. It was an amazing evening. Everyone in the pack has welcomed Eli with open hearts, and I could not be more proud. I have also decided to divide my reading time for the little ones with Isabella, as she really enjoyed herself when I was in labor. She has Tuesday and I have Thursday. The kids have been nothing but sweet and gentle with my son, cooing over him and doting whenev
Isiaah P.O.V.4 months later “ISAIAH!” Ivy screams from our room. Our wedding day fastly approaching, but we decided to wait to get married until she had our baby. She’s been a real trooper through the pregnancy, and has been bedridden for the last month because the little rascal may or may not come early if she didn’t. Not that she wasn’t doing everything right before to keep him in there for as long as possible, but sometimes that is just not enough and you have to do more proactive stuff to ensure a full term baby. She’s been having a tough time accepting that, and twice a week I have been carrying her to the downstairs living room, where she has been reading to the littlest pups in the pack. They have been so fascinated with her growing stomach and the fact the next little Alpha is in there. I adore her, swelling stomach and all. She is as beautiful today as she was the day I met her - minus all the bruises. “ISAIAH I MEAN I… OW!” I jump to my feet, hurrying into our bedroom. I w
