KING Zeus POV
~BLUE MOON PACK~
Anger coursed through my veins as I glanced through the reports in front of me. I adjusted the glasses at the bridge of my nose. For the past two hours I have been sitting here going through the atrocities committed by the Alpha of the Blackpeak pack.
I banged my hands on the table angrily and the sound reverberated across the room.
"Jacob!" I growled. A second barely passed before he rushed in.
"Alpha King, you called for me." My beta, Jacob answered.
"What's all these?" I inquired, pointing towards the file.
"Those are the reports I got on Blackpeak pack for the past few months Alpha." He explained.
"Blackpeak pack again? Aside from their extortion from the poor by using tax payment as an excuse, Alpha Orion's pack also has the highest rate of poverty. He has refused to pay his employees?" I inquired in disbelief.
Jacob nodded. "Yes, Alpha King. I also got reports of some of his pack members deaths. A border fell recently. It was rumored to have been their enemy's camp out and the wolves living in that residence all got crushed to death including some newly born she-wolves."
I clenched my jaw with a sneer, "Let me guess, this happened because of poor security and the walls of the border weren't built properly. But why didn't he say anything about enemies camping at his borders?"
"Yes, my King. The materials used were of poor quality and because he had refused to pay his employees, some security and warriors resigned." He responded.
"What the heck? How could an Alpha be this stupid? I have sent a warning to him before but he has refused to obey." I growled.
"He has made his choice. I won't sit back this time. He has proclaimed war and war he shall have. Prepare my carriage now I need to go to Blackpeak pack." I ordered, taking my glasses off.
"Yes, Alpha King." he replied turning around to leave.
I grabbed the files and closed them, staring at them only increased my anger. As an Alpha he watched his people suffer, no he was in fact the cause of their suffering.
I had been getting his reports for the past 6 months and despite the warnings I sent to him through my beta and different letters I had sent on the past for him to change, he ignored them all and made me look like a goddamn fool.
Now he was going to pay badly for his negligence.
"Alpha, we're ready." Jacob declared as he walked into the room. I stood up and grabbed the files then stormed outside.
"Good, as soon as we get there, march straight to the pack house and don't stop till you bring Alpha Orion in front of me." I commanded.
They all chorused, "Yes, our King."

"The King requests to see Alpha Orion. Now!" Jacob, my beta barked at Orion's bodyguards and officials as soon as we got to Blackpeak pack.
"O... okay sir." He said fearfully and scurried away to go look for the Alpha. Jacob followed suit.
In a few minutes, he was brought before me with Jacob trailing behind him, he wore a huge scowl on his face but when he saw me he quickly faked a smile.
"My King, what do I owe this visit?" He bowed.
I lunged towards him and pinned him to the ground, my claw digging into his neck.
"How dare you?" I growled in rage.
"My King, I... I didn't do anything." He spoke, wincing in pain.
"You didn't? After ignoring all my letters and warnings?" I prompted.
"I didn't do anything, my King. Whatever was reported to you is a lie, Alpha King." He said, his hands clutching around my arms.
"A lie? Then we'll see about that." I said and flung him towards the door.
I threw the files at his feet, "Then explain this!" I said walking up to him.
He took the files with shaky hands, trying to go through the papers. After he had gone through a few, he bowed his head in shame.
"Alpha, King. I..." He stuttered.
"As an Alpha, I'm ashamed of you. An Alpha never lies, he upholds his decisions with pride!" I seethed.
"My King, I'm sorry..." He tried to explain.
"Keep your apologies to yourself!" I barked, cutting him off. "I'm taking over from now on and my decision is final. Do you understand?"
"Yes, my King!" He responded, quickly.
"Good. It's become clear to me Orion, that you're no longer suitable for the position of the Alpha. I'll determine my next course of action and notify you on the day of our negotiations." I leaned closer to him.
"I don't need to tell you what will happen if you disobey me right?" I pressed his injured neck with my feet.
"Yes, Alpha." He groaned.
"I need every single file about this pack submitted to me before dawn. Now!" I ordered and he scurried away.
I turned to Jacob, "I would have a talk with the pack members about the change. Assemble everyone!" I ordered. He bowed in respect and headed out to do exactly as I had instructed.
Meanwhile, I took a glance around the pack house while I waited.
Soon enough, Jacob returned. "Alpha King, I have done exactly as you said."
"So fast? Did you assemble everyone?" I asked in surprise.
"Yes my King. Everyone in the pack house but there are some prisoners in the dungeon and I came to ask if you would like to meet them too." He explained.
"Prisoners? Do you know what their offences are?"
"No, my King. That's why I thought you would want to include them as we don't know what they did wrong and we're not even sure if they committed a crime."
"That's true, summon them." I ordered.
He nodded and went back to the door. Everyone began to troop in, including the prisoners.
My wolf, Jeff was heightened, yipping uncontrollably.
What was wrong?
The prisoners trooped in last, I moved forward as a familiar scent hit my nose. My gaze stopped at a particular woman who had her head bowed.
"Mate!" Jeff growled in my head.
KING Zeus POV My senses were heightened the moment she was brought before me. The air cracked with an undeniable force, a magnetic pull that went beyond before mere physical attraction. She raised her head even though all prisoners had their head bowed. Her eyes widened and I felt the flicker of emotion in them, it was the mate bond. The connection surged through my veins and blood, confirming her status as my destined partner. It was obvious she felt it too, after a few minutes of running her eyes over me, she hurriedly averted her gaze, bowing to me like every prisoner. Although my insides were in turmoil, I maintained a straight face in front of everyone. Our exchange was only for a brief moment for the people present but to us it felt like an eternity. "Jacob," I called out, gazing at other prisoners who were shaking like leaves. "Yes, my King." His polite reply came. "Retreat everyone back to the dungeon. I will attend to this matter soon." I ordered. He shot me a surpris
Selene POVWith my mouth wide open I stared at the man standing in front of me. I was still processing words to say when he arched an eyebrow at my silence.“Sir… I think you must be mistaken.” I managed to say.“Huh? What?” He asked as he saw the shock on my face.“What do you want?” I asked, my eyes watching his every expression.“You.” He blurted almost immediately.“Sir, you must be mistaken. I don't understand what you are trying to say.” I denied it for the third time with a straight face.He stood there staring down at me intently and his expression did not change one bit.“You heard me and you're coming with me.” He repeated. Before I could say Jack he went out of the dungeon and arrived with a young man whom he ordered to open the door to the dungeon and let me out.“What are you doing?” I questioned as the man fumbled with the padlocks.“I said earlier that you're coming with me.” He repeatedly ignored the shock on my face. The man finally opened the dungeon and he ordered
Alpha Zeus POV Selene silence made cold shivers run down my spine and never have I ever been so nervous my whole life. Here I was, growing goosebumps and sweating in my armpits as I prayed to the Moon Goddess that Selene made the right choice. Not only did Orion maltreat her, but he chose to believe his ex over his mate and someone who was carrying his child. Therefore he wasn't a good mate and fit to be with him. The way he has even tried to manipulate her into choosing him already said the same thing that the guy was nothing but a manipulator. "Hey, Selene... Nobody is pressuring you. Just choose from your heart. I'm not forcing-""I choose to go with you, my King." She said almost immediately, cutting me off."You do?" I choked out, unsure of what I heard."Yes, my King. As long as you want me to." She added."Of course I do," I said, trying hard to hide my smile."Is the carriage ready?" I asked my men."Yes, Alpha. Everything is ready." They responded.Orion and Vivan stood
Alpha Zeus' POV Panic surged through me as I saw Selene's lifeless firm, she was pale and cold. I shook her and tried calling her name several times but she remained silent and still.Fear gnawed at my heart, I need to protect my mate at all costs. I can't lose her, not after years of searching for her, and finally found her. "Move this carriage faster!" I barked at my men, urgency evident in my voice, "We need to get the pack healer, now!"Selene's body was limp and cold in my arms; I pressed my ear to her chest to listen to her heartbeat; they were slow and steady. Goodness! She was still breathing. "Selene, jod on a little longer. We'll get you to a healer and you'll be fine. Please..." I whispered, begging silently. We soon got up the pack house and my men rushed to open the carriage door after halting it to a stop. "Go get the Royal healer now!" I ordered my men to summon the healer upon reaching the pack house. I carried Selene in my arms and raced to my room to lay her d
King Zeus POV "Go to the throne room and wait for me, I'll join you all there soon," I said to dismiss the elders into the room, ignoring their confused faces. They went to the throne room to wait for me while I gave Selene one last glance before I reluctantly followed them."Thr Luna is currently tired from the journey and she would not like to be disturbed at the moment. You can all check back some other time when she's at least better. " My voice echoed in the throne room. They almost erupted into a loud noise, murmuring amidst each other. The eldest among them greeted me politely as he stood up to talk, "Alpha, we understand how the journey must have been, but don't you think it's right for Luna to at least see us? We don't mean to disturb her but we can assure you that we will not be hard with her." He finished speaking and looked at his fellow elders, who all nodded in agreement to what he had said. "Yes, Alpha. We don't mean to be rude or disturb your mate, but expect babe
Selene POV“Okay, Alpha,” Jacob, my beta replied politely as he moved out to go look for the architecture like I had said.I rushed off to my office to attend to some last-minute work as I was already sure that Selene was fine and was not going to wake up anytime soon.Soon, news reached me that my mate was now awake. Selene had woken up from her consciousness. I rushed to Selene and sat beside he as she stirred awake and flustered her eyes open.“Z…Zeus,” She said weakly as I took her hands in mine.I groaned in relief, “You're awake?” I asked, my voice was hoarse. She shot me a weak smile, “Yes, I'm fine now.” she smiled weakly.“Don't worry, you're fine,” I assured her.“How long have I been asleep?” she asked glancing around the room.“Some hours but you can still lay back if you need more sleep,” I said, as I helped her adjust her head on the headboard.“It's since, I feel a bit stronger now.” She said as she tried to hide a blush.“Okay then, if you say so,” I added softly, givi
SELENE POV. I didn't know where I was, and no matter how many times I tried to make sense of my surroundings, all I could see were the towering trees, their dark forms creating shadows, with the full moon's light struggling to break through the clouds passing overhead. It was silent—so silent that even the fall of a pin would have echoed. "Hello..." I called out as I stepped forward; each move I made filled the stillness with the snap of branches underfoot. "Hello," I repeated, feeling utterly lost. Desperation edged my voice, hoping that someone, anyone, would respond and lead me out of this dark unknown. Then, my breath caught in my throat as I saw them: a pair of red eyes fixed on me from deep within the thick jungle. I stepped back, a chill running down my spine, my body froze as fear took over me. The intensity of it threatened to collapse me right there, but I forced myself to stand firm.Slowly, the creature—no, a monster—began to move forward, baring its sharp teeth as it fix
No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t get Zeus out of my mind. I tried everything—sleeping, pacing around the room I was kept in, eating, and doing so many other things—but it was nearly impossible to push him out of my thoughts.I bit my lower lip each time I remembered how rudely I had spoken to him, making it seem as if he had crossed a line when, in reality, he had only been trying to help. Should I have done that? I didn’t have an answer to my question, and it bothered me so much. "Would it be alright if I took a stroll around the garden?" I asked one of the maids, who was busy attending to me and serving my meal. She didn’t respond immediately, just briefly lifted her head to make eye contact before looking down again and saying, "I honestly can’t make that decision for you. We would need to ask the alpha or his beta first to get permission," she replied, and I nodded. She stepped out of the room for a moment, then returned and said, "If you finish your food soon, you can tak
Brent’s POVThe hallway was empty save for the faint sound of footsteps echoing in the distance. My hands clenched into fists as I walked quickly away after the encounter with Candice. That woman had a way of getting under my skin, her words like needles pricking at my pride and patience. The audacity to question my competence after everything that had happened — after what my men had faced — was infuriating.I pushed the door to my quarters open with more force than necessary, the sound of it hitting the wall startling one of the soldiers stationed nearby. He glanced at me, then quickly looked away, recognizing my mood. Smart man.Dropping into the chair at my desk, I ran a hand through my hair, trying to settle the boiling frustration that Candice had expertly ignited. She always had to have the last word, always had to prove she was the smartest person in the room. And the worst part? She wasn’t entirely wrong about Zeus.I hated admitting it, even to myself, but her insight into h
Candice’s POVI was utterly annoyed when the news of the failed operation got to me. I had expected Brent to have been more aware and prepared. It was certain he had underestimated Zeus. This was the same reason I had wanted to be involved with the operation and not just give ideas on what should be done.I needed to go and talk to Rodrigo and give him a piece of my mind. He and his men had fumbled up a perfectly laid-out plan, and I wasn’t going to sit idly and watch them continue like this. If I was going to have my revenge on Zeus, then I was going to do more than just give advice and sit in this gigantic castle. I needed to be directly involved with every operation; from planning to execution. If there was one person who knew Zeus as much as he knew himself, it was me.I stepped out of the room, completely ignoring Lucia who kept on calling out and running after me. I wasn’t going to allow anyone to stop me from giving Rodrigo a piece of my mind. I was about to round a corner to t
Selene’s POVThe day went by slowly. I had barely left the room since my encounter with the goddess. Eleanor was the best guardian anyone could ask for. She dotted on me like I was her child. Constantly checking to make sure nothing went wrong. With her, I knew I was completely safe from immediate harm. Her son had recovered from the injuries he had gotten from the fight with Zeus and Evan. The perks of being a wolf were the accelerated healing, amongst other things. He was up and about, getting involved in the activities around the safe house. He had been in to check on me a few times too. Eleanor and her son had become the family I had always prayed for.I spent my time indoors knitting, using it as a form of distraction. I know the goddess had asked me not to worry or disturb myself again but I couldn’t help the thoughts running about in my head.It was almost noon when I heard movements coming from the compound. I got up from the bed and stepped out of the room. From the look of t
Brent’s POVRodrigo was furious. I could hear the commotion from outside his office door. I didn’t need to go in to know that he would have tumbled his office by the time I’d gotten there. We all stood outside, everyone afraid to approach the office.I stood in patience waiting for the moment Rodrigo would be calm enough for me to approach him and talk to him. I’d known from experience that approaching him when he was raging wasn’t the best move for anyone to make.Minutes passed as the muffled sounds of Rodrigo’s rage subsided. The soldiers who had been standing around glanced at me nervously. I kept my face neutral, masking my own unease. Dealing with Rodrigo when he was angry was like walking on hot coals and expecting your foot to not get burned. Finally, silence could be heard from inside the office. I stood for a few minutes, listening for sounds so I wouldn’t walk into another fit that was waiting to explode. When I was sure he had calmed down a little bit, I took a deep breath
Zeus’ POVThe room was filled with a heavy silence as I sat at the head of the table, my fingers tapping an irregular rhythm on the table surface. The shadows cast by the firelight seemed to dance mockingly as if they knew the war raging inside of me. The betrayal of Marcus and Gregory was a deep wound, a knife in my back from men I had once trusted wholeheartedly. My thoughts were restless, wandering endlessly over their disloyalty.A knock at the door broke through my cloud of anger.“Enter,” I commanded, my voice cold and calculating at the same time.Evan and Jack stepped inside, their expressions humorless but firm. They bowed briefly before straightening. I could see the tiredness in their eyes despite their attempt to hide it. Evan’s uniform had little cuts around it, a faint line of dirt across his sleeve, and a small tear near his shoulder. Jack had almost the same look about him, though his demeanor was as sharp as ever.“Guys, good job today,” I said, leaning forward slight
Evan’s POVThe door closed behind Jack and me as we exited Zeus’ office. The importance of the mission was becoming very evident with each passing minute. The stakes had never been higher, and there was no room for error. Zeus had trusted us with this plan, and failure wasn’t an option.“We need to move now,” I said to Jack, my voice low but firm. He nodded, his expression as sharp as mine. There was no time to waste.Within minutes, I assembled the soldiers in the strategy room, dividing them into four different teams. Each soldier’s face was tight with focus, their postures rigid as they awaited my instructions. I moved to the front of the room, letting my gaze run across them, making sure I had the attention of everybody in the room.“Listen carefully,” I began. “This mission is crucial to uncovering the traitors in our midst. Each of you has been selected because I trust your tact, skills, and discretion. There will be no second chances. We need absolute stealth and precision.”I
Brent’s POVThe rustling in the control room filled my ears as I watched the large screens mounted on the walls. Each one displayed live feeds from the soldiers stationed at the western woods and the eastern outpost. A dozen men moved around me, monitoring the signals, communications, and camera angles. This was a delicate operation — one I couldn’t afford to mess up.I paced back and forth, eyes darting between the screens. The western woods appeared cold and dark, with tall trees surrounding it, the pathway barely visible under the weak moonlight. The eastern outpost was a bit different. It was quiet, almost peaceful, with the rustle of trees and faint chirps of crickets in the background. Both locations were deadly silent, and that made me uneasy.“Keep the feeds clear,” I ordered sharply, hovering behind a technician. “I want eyes on everything. And tell the units to proceed with caution. I don’t want mistakes.”“Yes, sir,” the technician replied, typing furiously on the keyboard.
Rodrigo’s POVThe soft scratching of my pen against the stack of papers in front of me was beginning to drive me mad. Line after line, I signed my name, my focus slipping with every word I read. Financial summaries, border patrol updates, pack development plans — it was endless. I leaned back in my chair, pressing two fingers to my temple, feeling the weight of boredom press down on me.How did it come to this? This office, with its dark oak walls and giant shelves of old records, felt more like a prison than the command post it was supposed to be. I was Rodrigo, the man who thrived on strategy and war, not some clerk meant to push papers all day. I was built for action, not for sitting here, suffocating under reports. With a groan, I flung my pen onto the table and leaned back, staring at the ceiling. The progress against Zeus was moving at a snail’s pace. The conspiracy had been months in the making, and while small steps had been taken, nothing decisive had yet happened. Zeus still
Selene’s POVThe words from the goddess filtered into my mind, interrupting my thoughts. When I had been recuperating in the hospital and had the vision, she had said that a war, a great war, was coming, and the only person who could save my kind was me.The war she showed me was intense, razing everything in its path. How was I supposed to stop something of that magnitude? I couldn’t even save myself. I’m here, hidden in a safe house so I’d be safe. Guards have been posted around the compound to make sure no threats come close. All these to keep me safe because I wasn’t capable of something as simple as that. Yet, I was supposed to save my kind from the war coming. The goddess must have been mistaken.I stood from the bed and walked to the window, staring out into the night. The moon hung in the night sky. It would be a full moon in a few days. I was tired of being hurled up in this room. My wolf wanted to run, to feel the air rush across her body. She wanted to enjoy the feeling of
