CHAPTER 5

Selene POV

With my mouth wide open I stared at the man standing in front of me. I was still processing words to say when he arched an eyebrow at my silence.

“Sir… I think you must be mistaken.” I managed to say.

“Huh? What?” He asked as he saw the shock on my face.

“What do you want?” I asked, my eyes watching his every expression.

“You.” He blurted almost immediately.

“Sir, you must be mistaken. I don't understand what you are trying to say.” I denied it for the third time with a straight face.

He stood there staring down at me intently and his expression did not change one bit.

“You heard me and you're coming with me.” He repeated.

Before I could say Jack he went out of the dungeon and arrived with a young man whom he ordered to open the door to the dungeon and let me out.

“What are you doing?” I questioned as the man fumbled with the padlocks.

“I said earlier that you're coming with me.” He repeatedly ignored the shock on my face.

The man finally opened the dungeon and he ordered him to release the other prisoners too.

I froze on my spot when the man who released me addressed him as “Alpha King”

What?! The Alpha King was my mate, and on top of that, he was asking that I be released and come with him.

“Come out!” He said as he saw me standing in the dungeon.

“I'm not going anywhere until you tell me where we are going?” I demanded and I didn't miss the small smile that crossed his face as he heard me talk.

“We are going to my pack and you're going with me because you are my mate.” He said gently, and it made me question if this was the Alpha King, who was rumored to be quick to anger and also merciless.

Here he was being so kind and patient with me.

“And what if I don't want to come with you?” I challenged.

“And why would you refuse to come with me?” He shot.

I was still finding words to say when Orion rushed into the dungeon.

“Good day, Alpha King.” He greeted me as he shot me a deadly glare.

The Alpha King refused to respond to his greeting as he looked furious to see him instead.

“Who gave you permission to walk in here?” He demanded, his tone fierce.

“My King, I’m sorry for interrupting but you cannot take this woman out of here. She's not only a murderer but also here for committing adultery. Alpha King, trust me she doesn't deserve your time.” Orion bad-mouthed before the King.

“Shut up!” The Alpha King barked at him.

“Alpha, but…” The rest of his sentence died in his mouth as the Alpha King barked at him to remain quiet.

“Get out, NOW!” He ordered Orion to leave.

He moved towards me and took me by my hand as we walked out of the dungeon.

Getting outside, I saw Orion standing in front of the dungeon with Vivan.

“Alpha King, Selene is my mate, and she's facing her punishment; you can't just leave with her. She is still my mate and I have every right over her as much as she's here.” Orion said to the Alpha King and Vivan; his ex nodded in confirmation of his words.

I still love Orion, and because of that, I had been cautious about leaving with my new mate. But it all dawned on me that Orion wasn't even remorseful about his actions, the whole time he didn't even feel a pang of guilt that he had me imprisoned for an accusation that was baseless and had no tangible evidence, he was here talking about how I was a cheat a wasn't worthy to be redeemed because I was still facing my due punishment. Worse of all is that he even claimed that I killed my child.

I lost my child because he chose to trust a stranger over me, his mate and I will never forgive him for that.

“She is no longer your mate because you have rejected her and decided to treat her like an Omega. Selene is my mate.” The Alpha King announced and everyone gasped in disbelief.

“What?!” Vivan gasped as she stared at me and then at the Alpha King at his announcement.

I looked back at the King in disbelief at how he got to know my name.

“Alpha, it cannot be true. This woman…” Orion tried to say.

“Silence!” The Alpha King ordered, silencing their grunts and noise.

“I already said it, and I won't say it again; Selene is my mate, and she's coming with me; if you know you're ready to go against me, then you’ll have me to face and contend with.” He finished as he held my hand and led me outside the packhouse. There were carriages lined up waiting for us.

Orion was persistent as he followed him, “My King, you can't just take her away; I have to leave her to decide and speak up for herself on whether she wants to go with you or not.” Orion said as he tried to blackmail the King into changing his mind.

It seemed like it worked because the King paused on his steps and contemplated what Orion had just said.

“I am not doing anything against her wish and nothing you try to say or do is going to change my mind. My mate is coming with me.” The King said as he grabbed my hand possessively towards him.

“Alpha, then she would have to make that decision herself. She'll choose if she's going to go with you or she'll stay.” Orion said proudly with a sly look on his face.

He must be a sucker to think that I was going to stay here with him after everything he had put me through.

The King released my hand and turned to look at me with a hint of sadness on his face, Selene, would you choose to stay here or come with me to my pack as my mat?” The king asked and I hesitated a bit as I stared at everyone as they anticipated my reply.”

“Yeah, come on. Tell us.” Vivan urged me.

“Keep quiet and let her make her decision.” The King shunned her.

His eyes lingered on mine and it surprised me how I was able to read through him like we've known each other for a long time. He was silently begging me to yearn for him even though I denied any pull I felt with him.

“It's the mate bond.” My wolf rebuked me.
