The devastating news broke Bella's heart. They were the only family she knew. She had never met her mother, but her father and brothers raised her and trained her to be the strong Alpha female she was now. Bella couldn't even find support in her cold and distant mate, Jasper. She was used to his cold demeanor, but she thought they were happy together. She could've never imagined she had been living a lie. When she was at her lowest, Sadie, her childhood friend, confessed to her, that she had been Jasper's mistress for 5 years and informed her of their plans to overtake Bella's former pack as well as making Sadie Jasper's new Luna. That's what they wanted to believe, but they had underestimated Bella and what she was capable of. They will all have to face her wrath and that of an unthinkable ally.

Chapter 1

1. Bearing Bad News

Bella's POV

I was dreading to go back to the pack’s hospital, but I hadn’t been feeling well. Dr Janna entered the room again. She had insisted on doing a pregnancy test. “Dr Janna, how is the result today?” I already knew the answer, and I have learned the hard way not to have any expectations. Not to mention that Jasper has been away for three months, summoned to war by the Lycan King, along with all other Alphas. The chances of me being pregnant were null.

There is nothing I yearn more in this world than to have a pup, but for five years since I have been mated to my Alpha Jasper, all I ever heard was, ‘not pregnant.’ Each time I hear it, I feel like a permanently embedded knife twists my insides. Barren, the pack members would whispered behind my back, but I can’t stop them. I can’t punish them for telling the truth.

I closed my eyes and touched my belly. Willing a child appear inside my womb. How wonderful it would be to quiet down all those gossipers. The whispers won’t follow me anymore. The pack members wouldn’t look at me with scorn or pity.

“Is our Luna cursed? Five years and no heir? I would be ashamed if I were her.”

“Are the Luna and Alpha even fated mates? I don’t think so. But what other reason can there be for Alpha to marry her? She is barren. He should reject her.”

“I heard her family is very powerful. Alpha married her only for that reason. We need an heir. We are already powerful. He doesn't need her.”

Every single day, all those whispers would gnaw at my insides. Does Jasper even know about them? The pack members didn’t even care to get their facts right. Yes, my father and brothers were really powerful, but Jasper and I are fated mates. We love each other. I needed my family so much right now, but they all have gone to war at the northern border.

Dr. Janna kept reading the results, but then her frowned turned into a bright smile. “ Congratulations, Luna! You are pregnant!” Janna’s eyes were watering as she broke the news.

“Janna, you don’t have to lie to me just to make me happy." I know I was hopeful, but I’m already used to hearing the bad news. Janna was one of the few friends I had made in this pack. She and her mate Beta Luca had been front row witnesses of my struggle to conceive.

“Luna, you are really pregnant!” She showed me the result. Positive!

I read the test paper again and again.

That was true!

Thank you, Goddess! "You are carrying the heir of Riverbank pack in your womb,” Jenna said with excitement. My tears started running. I hugged the test to my chest. Please Goddess don’t wake me up if this is just a dream. But, it was true, I’m finally pregnant!

My first thought was to tell Jasper. He will be thrilled. He would have celebrated with me if he was here. He had mentioned kids, an heir, at the beginning of our marriage. Our dream will finally become true. What a great surprise I will be giving him when he comes back.

“Please Janna, don’t say a word to anyone. I want Jasper to hear it from me.” Janna nodded, and I left the hospital immediately. I didn’t think I would be able to keep this news inside my chest for long. I needed to call Jasper.

I took the main road towards the Alpha’s mansion when I saw several SUVs parked there. I easily recognized Jasper’s car. Goddess, this day was getting better and better. Jasper was back! As I walked closer, I could see the outline of Jasper’s tall and imposing figure as he untangled my friend Sadie’s arms from around his neck. Jasper almost pushed her when he saw me, I bet he was as excited to see me as I was.

“Jasper!” I whispered yelled as I jumped to his arms. A clash of emotions threatened to burst from my chest as I inhaled the familiar scent of Jasper. I locked my legs around his waist as I claimed his lips. One of his hands clasped firmly around my waist, and the other one buried in my hair, our tongues collided in an explosive kiss, trying to make up for 3 months away from each other.

Sadie cleared her throat, and Jasper let go of me. We were slightly panting. He put me down. My baby blue eyes locked with his Hazel ones. He cleared his throat. In all of our years together, this was one of the very few times I saw him lose control. His cold mask was back on.

“Jasper.” I said breathlessly, trying to relax, but the kiss, my pregnancy, his presence, all the emotions were bursting out of my chest. “I have good ne…”

“Bella.” He lifted his hand about to touch my face, but he stopped midwa, letting it fall again. He didn’t look happy.

“What?” I asked, letting him go first. The good news will come later.

“I’m the bearer of bad news, Bella.” His eyes were avoiding me. He rubbed his chin with one of his hands, and then he passed his fingers through his hair. He did that a lot when something was worrying him.

“What is it, Jasper? Is the war not over? Do you have to go back?” He studied me for a second. His tall figure loomed over me.

“Your father and both of your brothers didn’t make it.” I froze, unable to move or articulate any words. My brain broke down, unable to process that sentence. The buzzing in my ears intensified.

“Bella! Are you okay?” Dead my family, is dead?

“Bella!” Jasper shook my shoulders, bringing me back to reality. My teary eyes locked with his intense ones.

“Tell me is not true.” I whimpered. The pressure in my chest was making it impossible to breathe. I could not withstand this pain. My chest was tearing apart. I was a mess, and tears were running down my eyes.

My body went limp, unable to support myself any longer, and I slid to the ground. Jasper caught me before I fell and held me tight.

“I’m sorry.” He whispered. My mouth opened, unable to articulate any word. My chest rose and felt rapidly, and the air left from my lungs, but I managed to say one thing before everything went black.

“Who killed them?”

2. Shocking Confession
Bella's POV“Take this box.” I accepted the gift that Jasper brought me from the border. I was so excited to open it.“What is it?” I said with a smile. My curiosity was winning over my manners when I opened it with expectation. The box was wet and felt warm. I felt something pulsing inside. I lifted up the last layer. In it, they were three… A loud shriek escaped my mouth. I opened my eyes startled. The beeping of the machines surrounding me matched the thudding of my heart. It all came back to me. The pain and agony. My father and my brothers. How could this be? They raised me. My brothers were much older than I was. They helped my father train me and taught me everything they knew. I never met my mother. But they made sure I didn’t miss her that much. They witnessed my first shift and showered me with love. They meant everything to me. Their training was rigorous, but they never felt to show me how much they cared. But now I lost them. All of them at the same time. How I was supp

3. Foolish Mistake
Jasper's POV I was feeling so relaxed after a good fuck, that I didn’t mind when Sadie didn’t move from my lap right away. I wasn’t the cuddling type. Not even with my mate, especially not with Sadie, whom I always left alone once I was done with her. She was a talker indeed. Must of the times I would just drift away without really listening to her. She was lucky she was hot. She wasn’t like my mate, though. Only Bella could make me lose control, and I didn’t like that. Sadie was like a balance in my life that helped me control the mate bond and put it at bay. After 3 long months, all I wanted to do was to rut away inside my mate, but that’s losing control. I can’t afford that. I won’t lose everything that I have worked so hard for. I will not become a pansy of the mate bond. But all I kept thinking about was Bella. After the tragic news of her family’s death, she wouldn’t be in the mood for a little time in the sack with me. I groaned. “…and you should have seen the clownish

4. Runaway Mate
Bella's POV I left Jasper’s place in a hurry. I took my small bag and walked through the roads towards the parking lot, trying to act normally. I needed to leave fast before Jasper felt my absence. If not him, but Theron his wolf. He wouldn’t like it. I froze when I saw Beta Luca standing there in the parking lot. Luca, Dr. Janna's mate and my friend. Another jab at my heart. He must have known everything since the start. He is Jasper’s Beta. The closes person to Alpha. He knew about Jasper and Sadie, but he chose to stay quiet. I stood there, not knowing what he was going to do. He saw me and gave me a knowing nod. “Get in the car, Luna. I’ll take you wherever you wish to go.” He opened the door and helped me get in. It was never lost to me how, as Beta, he had always been protective of his Luna. Whatever were his reasons to stay quiet I’m sure one day he’ll let me know. Inside the car, I breathed a sigh of relief. Luca didn’t ask me anything. He was probably still embar

5. The Cave
Bella's POV I almost fell on top of the wounded man. It was still night before dawn. The man moaned in pain slightly. He must be one of the warriors who fought in the war. Before I disappeared from my pack, I thought of my father, and I wished to find him. I'm near the battlefield now. The weather was cold but not as bad as Jasper made everyone believe. I put my arms around me. The night was chilly. I needed to find a safe place to spend the rest of the night. I looked at the warrior on the floor. He must have fought side by side with my father and brothers. They were all protecting our country. The least I could do was to help him. Moving him wouldn't be easy. The soldier was impressive. With massive hands and muscles. Even wounded on the floor, he looked threatening. I played with the ring on my left hand. It belonged to my mother. My father told me how the ring worked, but he never wanted me to use it. He was always overprotective of me on that matter. I had already exposed

6. Dane's Doubts
Dane's POV Once I sat inside the car, I let out a breath of relief. We've won the war days ago, but the king had been MIA ever since. We had kept it a secret to avoid unrest within our nation. Our King doesn't have any heirs yet. It was up to me, his Beta, to make sure he was found while maintaining order in his absence. I turned around to look at the woman in the back. She looked harmless, but we couldn't trust anyone where our king was concerned. He has many enemies who wished him dead. Who's to know they didn't send a beautiful woman like her to seduce him and deceive him. My men made a total check around the area but found no sign of anyone else there. Nevertheless, I still feel that she didn't work alone. "mmmph." The woman protested. I had gagged her earlier because she wouldn't shut up. I was avoiding any more interaction with her until the Lycan King awakened. I was not going to be deceived by those innocent looking blue eyes as well. Harming women is not something I choo

7. Prisioner
Bella's POV I slept with one eye open. I didn't trust any of these people. At least they didn't hurt me physically, but they were starving me instead. My stomach was growling. I needed to eat something urgently. I carresed my stomach, promising my child I would find something to eat as soon as I could. The door of the cell opened with a squeaky sound, making me jump to my feet. In came Dane with a cup of steaming coffee, smelling like the heavens. The coffee, not him. My stomach growled. I was famished. I could almost taste the bitter yet smooth flavor of the coffee in my tongue. He stood right in front of me. I had to throw my head back to lock eyes with him. Goddess that coffee smelled so good. For a minute, I thought he was going to hand it to me. He just smirked. I felt the need to kick him on the shins if he weren't this stupidly tall. He doesn't look anything like his brother, though. Even their hair color ir different. Dane's hair is sandy blond, and his handsome brother h

8. His Wolf's Rage
Chad My mouth felt parched. My head was going to explode, and the incessant beeping close by was making it worse. I opened my eyes, but the bright light in the room hurt my eyes. It took me a minute to adapt to the brightness. Where am I? I looked around, trying to recognize this place. It looked like I was in the pack's hospital. My wolf just woke me up. He's been complaining about Dane, nonstop. 'Dane, the idiot, he has imprisoned her, and you wouldn't wake up!' Said my wolf Cobalt with a snarled. No wonder my head throbs. He is utterly enraged. 'What are you talking about, Cobalt?'I asked. 'The fair woman who saved our lives, Dane imprisoned her! Do something!' The same anger started to build inside me as well. 'Dane, where the hell are you?! I'm awake! Report to me now!' I was still grudgy, so the mindlink went broadly to every member of Mountain's Peak pack. Great! In seconds, I was surrounded by doctors, and the buzzing of people outside was insane. "How are you feeling, m

9. New in Town
Bella's POV I woke up with a jump. I was having another nightmare. In my nightmares, Jasper always finds me and forces me to go back. Then, he overtakes White Claw pack, my father's pack. I checked the time on the clock. It's early morning . I slept most of the day yesterday and throughout the night. After I took a shower, I decided to explore the town. I needed to buy clothes and a few toiletries. I ate something quickly at the hotel before I ventured outside. The locals were friendly people. If I wasn't on the run, I would've considered staying for a few more days. Unfortunately, now I wasn't only running from Jasper, but from Dane as well. There was a woman walking with a little girl holding her hand. I wondered if my child was a boy or a girl, and I smiled. The little girl thinking I was smiling at her, she smiled at me. "Look, Mommy, she's so pretty!" The little girl whispered out loud. Her mother shook her head and smiled as well. They seemed to be good people. "You're not

10. Searching For Her
Chad 'I told you. You shouldn't have listened to Dane. This is the third hotel we searched, and she is not here!' I sighed, but Cobalt was right. We wasted so much time. I can't help but feel desperate and annoyed that we couldn't find her. Somehow, I feel that she's important to me. Hell, if Cobalt's possessive behavior towards her wasn't a clue, I don't know what was. If something happens to her, I won't be able to live with the guilt. "Chad." Dane called me. When we were alone, he would address me by my name. We were childhood friends, and I've always considered him my best and only friend. There aren't many people I could trust in my position. "Did you find anything? A clue to where she might have gone, perhaps?" He shook his head. "I'm not going back to the pack until we have found her. Cobalt would go feral if I leave." I rubbed my eyes, trying to remain calm. Dane's apprehensiveness grew, as well. "I know, Chad. I wouldn’t dare to leave either. I could tell she is ver
