ChapterI walked up to Rosella's door, a bouquet of flowers in hand, eager to see her smile. I had heard that she had been feeling down lately and I wanted to do something special for her. These past few days have taken a toll on all of us and I want to always remind her that no matter whatever we are going through, I would be always here with her. But as soon as I opened the door, my heart dropped. She wasn't there. Her room was empty and silent, the only sound being the flowers rustling in my hand. Something about the way things were looking felt wrong, plus she didn’t tell me she was supposed to leave home today. I tried convincing myself that maybe she took a walk to clear her head or something. Something about the fact that she could take a walk was unsettling and I wouldn’t be going with that story. I quickly walked around the room, checking every corner, every closet, every inch of the space. But she was nowhere to be found. Panic started to set in as I realized that she was
I stood there, my eyes fixed on the spot where the portal was supposed to open. It was draining the life out of me and the more I tried, the more I realize I could lose my life while at it. The whole magic was draining me and nothing was hurting me more than Anaya’s betrayal. I always thought she is my friend and I remember each time I shut Julian down because he feels like something is off with her. I don’t blame her, I blame myself for being the idiot who couldn’t see when things are going wrong. “For someone that Julian is willing to risk his whole life for, you’re kind of useless. I wasn’t expecting this kind of sluggishness from you and to be honest, stupid people get all the privileges.” Jesse called out and I froze, there’s no way I can get this done if they keep taunting me and trying to make me look useless. Opening a portal requires a lot of focus and Akayla of all people knew that well. “It’s a wonder that she hasn’t passed out yet, our little witch really has some spice
I opened my eyes to a dimly lit room, feeling groggy and disoriented. Memories of what happened before I fell asleep came flooding back to me, and I sat up abruptly. Julian was sitting in a chair beside my bed, his eyes trained on me with concern etched on his face."Hey, you're finally awake," he said, his voice soft and soothing. "How are you feeling?""I feel like I've been sleeping forever," I muttered, rubbing my eyes. "What happened?""You've been out for three days," he replied, reaching out to place a gentle hand on my shoulder. "I've been taking care of you. You were exhausted after opening the portal."I sighed, feeling grateful for him. Julian had been my rock throughout all of this, and I couldn't imagine going through it without him."Thank you for taking care of me," I said, looking up at him with gratitude. "I don't know what I would do without you.""You don't have to thank me," he replied, giving me a small smile. "I promised always to keep you safe, and I intend to k
I woke up early in the morning, feeling restless. After my recent experience, I found it hard to sleep properly, and my mind always wandered to the worst-case scenarios. I took deep breaths to calm myself down and opened the window to let some fresh air in. As I looked outside, I saw Julian walking toward our house with a serious expression on his face.I quickly got dressed and ran towards him. As I approached him, I could see the worry in his eyes. "What's wrong, Julian?" I asked, feeling a lump forming in my throat. These days, I try hard not to let the negative thoughts in my head win, but it’s getting increasingly difficult each minute. One minute I’m laughing, and the next minute I’m trying hard to be happy. It’s like clockwork that I don’t want to participate in. "Nothing's wrong, my love," he said, taking my hand in his. I feel at home, with this man my whole life is complete and i don’t need anything else. "I just wanted to talk to the rest of the pack about our future as
Jesse arrived at the grand chamber where the ten elders of the Revolutionary sat. He lowered his head and stood before them, feeling ashamed and defeated. They were the most powerful group of witches in the world, feared and revered by all, and he had failed them. The air was thick with tension and Jesse could feel their eyes piercing through him."So, you have returned," said the eldest of the ten. His voice was deep and commanding, and Jesse could feel its weight on his shoulders."I have," Jesse replied, keeping his voice low and respectful."You failed us, Jesse," the elder continued. "We entrusted you with a simple task and you were unable to complete it."Jesse hung his head, knowing that he had let them down. He had been so sure of his abilities, so confident that he could defeat Rosella and Julian, but he had been wrong."You have brought shame upon yourself and upon our group," the elder said. "And for that, you must be punished."Jesse knew what was coming. He had heard stor
It's been weeks since Rosella started showing signs of sickness. Her usually glowing skin has become pale and lifeless, and her once shining hair is now dry and brittle. She barely eats, and when she does, she throws up almost immediately. I've tried everything within my power to help her. I've hired healers from different packs and even sought help from the witches in the neighboring city, but I need something to work. Everything was making it worse, and no sign of progress was even worsening. It’s getting hard not to lose hope at this point. I'm very worried about her. The pregnancy is taking its toll on her, and I can't bear to see her suffer like this. Her once bright and cheerful personality has dimmed, and she's becoming more and more distant. Her dark magic is taking control of her, and she's being destructive too. The last time she had an episode, she almost destroyed our bedroom. I'm scared for her life and don't know what to do. I want to stay with her, in fact, I want to g
“Wait!” I screamed, my voice frantic, and they all paused. “Sage needs my help; I can feel it. She’s in danger.” I muttered before changing course and heading back up the mountains, and They had no choice but to follow me. As I headed back up the mountains, I felt a sense of unease growing in my chest. It was as though my intuition was trying to tell me something, something urgent. Shaking off the feeling is impossible and I feel like whatever happens next is on me and it’s my fault. I need to prevent this and the dark magic was stirring alive inside of me. I quickened my pace, my feet pounding against the rocky terrain as I ran up the winding path. Julian was by my side, his hand clasping mine tightly as we made our way towards Sage's hut.As we reached the clearing where Sage's hut was located, we saw a group of people attacking her. They were armed with swords and were clearly trying to harm her. Without thinking twice, I rushed towards them, summoning all the power within me t
ROSELLA’S POV As Sage and I sat at the long dining table in the palace, I couldn't help but feel a sense of dread wash over me. This was it, the last supper we were going to have together before Sage sets off on a dangerous mission to find her daughter. I didn't want to let her go, but I knew I couldn't stop her.Sage looked at me with a stern expression, "Rosella, you need to have faith in yourself. You have grown so much in such a short amount of time. You are stronger than you think.""But what if something happens to you?" I asked, my voice quivering with fear. I couldn’t afford to lose Sage, especially not after how much we’ve bonded over the weeks of her being my trainer. She is the most patient teacher I’ve ever met and no wonder my mother asked me to find her. "I will be fine," Sage said reassuringly. "I have been running for too long. Living in hiding and scared of death, I’m over that fear now, and it's time for me to take control of my life again. And who knows, maybe I w
The rest of the fight was pretty much bullying.Watching her friend's head being pulled brutally from her neck was enough to awaken the darkest powers that lay dormant in her.Rosella attacked Akayla at once, blasting her with balls of fire. At first, Akayla did a good job dodging, but she couldn't keep it up for long.Rosella had her cornered in no time and as much as Akayla tried to fight back, nothing seemed to be working. Rosella's body absorbed every single ball of fire from Akayla and the more Akayla blasted her, the stronger she got.Akayla finally realized that there was no way she could get past Rosella and she decided to switch tactics to subtlety. She raised her arms in the air like she was surrendering and as soon as Rosella got close enough, she blasted her with all the energy she had.Rosella screamed in pain as her body struggled to absorb the blast and Akayla blasted her again.Rosella fell to the floor, her clothes burnt and torn in multiple places and Akayla laughed
“Some light training could help,” Alpha Julian suggested.“It’s magic we’re talking about,” Maika snorted. “You either have it or you don’t. She lost hers already and except we can find a way to get it back before Akayla sniffs us here, she can’t.”“Great,” Rosella sighed. “So I’m practically useless here.”“You’re not,” Maika frowned. “We would find a way. Here, hold my hands.”Maika stretched out her hand and Rosella took her hands.“Close your eyes, let’s try something,” Maika suggested.Rosella nodded and shut her eyes tight as Maika began to chant a spell. It took some minutes but eventually Rosella began to feel the power flow through Maika’s hands and into hers.Maika opened her eyes and dropped Rosella’s hand.“Try to light a flame now,” Maika said.Rosella spread her arms out and concentrated so hard but only a little spark came.“It would take a lot of time,” Maika sighed. “Your body is already used to the magnitude of the dark powers it carried before. What I have given you
It didn’t take Rosella a long time to find Julian. She knew his favorite spot, by the Oak tree and when she saw him there, she was not surprised.Rosella walked up to him and squeezed his hands in hers. He turned around, startled and she knew at once that he had not sensed her presence.“Rosella?” He asked. “Is that you?”“It’s me, honey,” Rosella replied and hugged him. They remained like that for a long while and when he finally disconnected from her, she saw that his eyes were pure white.“What happened to you?” Rosella cried. “Your eyes.”“She got to me,” Alpha Julian muttered. “Akayla. She killed our baby too.”“I know,” Rosella nodded. She wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes.“I saw him, Julian. I saw our baby.”“I saw him too,” Alpha Julian nodded. “I’m sorry I couldn’t do anything about it. I have failed you.”Rosella held his hands lovingly. She hated it when he was like that. He was her only source of strength and it seemed that he didn’t believe anymore. He had lost
THE LAST SUPPER 2Maika waited till they were halfway through their supper before she appeared from the kitchen again. She knew the poison was a slow one, and it would take a long time before it started working fully.Maisey sighted her at the door and called to her."Maika darling," Maisey called. "It's almost 11 and you still haven't eaten.""I'll eat later," Maika smiled. "I lost my appetite."Maisey stared at her for a while and frowned."You know it's not right to serve your guests and starve yourself?" He said."And where did you hear that?" Kika laughed. She dragged her chair closer to Maika and whispered in her ears."I know you don't feel like eating," She said. "I can always help you out."Maika managed a weak smile and nodded. Deep down, she felt a pange of guilt knowing that all of them were going to die at her hands. Kika especially. She wasn't a bad person, her only fault was moving with the wrong person, her own father, Maisey, and as much as it pained her, she knew t
THE LAST SUPPER 1Maika watched her father as he studied the map on the wall before him. He was lost in thoughts as he traced his fingers up and down, circling towns and marking off rivers. She wondered what he was doing but she didn’t bother asking. He was not going to live long enough to conquer any of the places he was marking so it was pointless asking.Maisey noticed her curious glance and he smiled at her.“My darling,” He said. “All these places you see would soon be ours.”Maika nodded and smiled knowingly. If there was one thing she liked about the man, it was his confidence and ambition. If only he could channel it into something better, something more meaningful and worthy. But no, he only cared about power. He only cared about ruling the realm, and his obsession with ruling the realm was going to be his biggest undoing.“What plans do you have for the new world when you take over, father?” Maika asked.Maisey smiled and ran his fingers across a small creek on the map.“I c
Rosella closed her eyes and the fire enveloped her.She could still hear Akayla’s cackles in the midst of the flames and when she opened her eyes again, she was surprised to see that the fire was not burning her.“Rosella!”Rosella turned around at the sound of the familiar voice and she barely resisted the urge to scream. It was no other than Sage, her mentor that had gone missing a long time ago.“Sage?” Rosella cried. “How? What are you doing here?”Sage managed a weak smile. “It’s a long story. I’m sorry I left you for so long.”Rosella ran to hug her but her arms passed right through Sage’s body. She stared at her in shock and she shook her head.“No, no, no, it can’t be possible,” Rosella cried. “Don’t tell me you’re dead too.”“I’ve been dead for a long time,” Sage replied. “Maisey did this to me.”Rosella’s eyes widened in shock. “Maisey?”Sage frowned at her. “We do not have time for chit chats, Rosella. My Spirit would be here to guide you and Maika. The two of you together,
A shrill scream from over a mile jolted Alpha Julian out of his reverie. He shifted into his wolf at once and his ears perked up, alert.Someone was watching him and he could feel it.He growled and bared his fangs, daring whoever it was to appear, but no one came for a while.Just as he shifted back to his human form, he saw her. Even in the midst of the fire, her aura was powerful. Her hair was blood red and burned along with the flame in the warehouse and she smiled noticing his stare."We meet again, Julian," Akayla smiled.Alpha Julian growled and watched as she walked closer to him. He backed away as she came closer."Are you now scared of me?" Akayla taunted him."I can never be scared of you," Alpha Julian growled. "You're nothing.""I was," Akayla agreed. "But not anymore, and all thanks to your little son."Akayla threw a stick at him and Alpha Julian caught it at once. Staring at it, he realized that it was not actually a stick. It looked like a little child, a little child
Rosella begged for the tears but they refused to come. The one person that mattered the most to her, she had lost. The evil witch now had her baby."Rosella!" Alpha Julian called again. She ignored his call and lay down on the bed silently. The smoke was restricting his view and she knew that he would have a hard time finding her."Where were you when I needed you the most!" Rosella cried. "I lost him!"There was a deafening silence in the room for a long while and Alpha Julian spoke finally. His voice was calm."How did it happen?""Susu!" Rosella cried. "I told you she was evil all the while but you never believed me. I'm the crazy witch who doesn't know what she's saying. Now we've lost our little boy.""No harm will come upon our baby," Alpha Julian promised. "I can assure you of that.""You can't assure me of anything," Rosella shook her head. "She would have killed me if she wanted to. You said you would be beside me but you weren't."From her voice, Alpha Julian could tell that
Susu carried the dead baby all the way to the abandoned warehouse. Her heart raced with excitement at the thought of getting Akayla back fully. Together, they were going to take over the world, just as Akayla had promised her.She got to the door of the warehouse and she looked around quickly to make sure that no one was looking. Seeing that no one was around, Susu pushed the door open and walked in.From a distance, she could feel the energy buzzing around Akayla. Even in her vegetative state, she was that powerful. Susu dared to wonder for a minute how strong she would be when all her powers were back. She stopped at the bed where the witch lay and she slowly removed the cloth that covered her body."My Queen," Susu announced her presence.Akayla woke up with a start and her eyes shone black. Her face was a mask of different dull colors: ash, grey and black in a few places, a subtle reminder of the day that she had tried to get the powers out of the portal and got badly burnt.Susu
