Chapter 3: More of the same

"Hey I met your new friend today," Nash grinned as he sat down at the table with her. She had been working on her homework.

"What?" She looks at her brother.

"The Alpha Exchange guy, Tyler. He said he's in Roger's group with you. Alpha Lars will be glad you've gotten along. You know how he loves to gloat about his trophy winning teams."

"I won a couple races, not like I won any Warriors Games. And they were just Junior trials."

"For the whole territory," Nash points out. "And you deserved it. You train twice as hard as most of those guys. And harder than almost anyone in our pack."

"It's just running," she tells him. "It's not that hard."

"Well, there is a reason they put him in your group and not like Beckett or Noah's groups. I'm just saying."

"If you say so, Nash."

"I know so, Dahlia."

School the next day was more annoying than usual. The visiting alpha student was the talk of the town. Gemma and her friends barely left him alone.

"How'd you shake the glam gargoyles?" Jael asks as Tyler sits down with them at lunch.

"Don't know but I'll take it," he says.

"You're an alpha, just tell her to go away," Lia says.

Tyler shakes his head. "I would, but my mom said to just ignore her. My dad told me not to risk my reputation or his, or the exchange program by getting angry."

"Are you angry?" Lia asks.

"Nah. Am I annoyed? Yeah. But not anything I haven't had to deal with my whole life. Someone is always trying to get to me to either befriend my dad or get a ranked spot. My dad says she'll either get the hint or embarrass herself. And I just have to be clear and tell her I'm not here to find a mate. Just allies."

"She's already embarrassing herself, she just has no shame."

"She'll embarrass her family eventually. Then it will be something to see."

"As long as she doesn't try to blame anything on me," Tyler grumbles as he starts to eat his lunch.

"I don't see her dad or our alpha risking a war just because on teen girl can't take a hint or handle rejection," Lia says, taking a bite of her sandwich.

"Wars have been fought for less," Jael shrugs.

"That is why I'm just going to stick with you guys and the rest of the group. Not worth the trouble."

"Oooh, that will piss her off," Jael laughs.

"But with witnesses," Tyler states.

"True," Lia agrees.

"Smart," Jael nods.
