"Are you hiding something from me?" Vincent asked with his eyes firmly closed. The risk of knowing if she really can lie to him petrifies him more than a gun pointed to his head would. However, what petrifies him, even more, is to know that Celestine is innocent and he had accused her.
He trusted Celestine and he's more than willing to trust her even more now that he heard something about her that can ruin everything they had in a snap of a finger.
Celestine put the phone down for a moment and try her best to stifle a cry. She bit her lower lip and tucked some of her hair strands behind her ears despite her shaky hands.
"Celestine, answer me, darling. Like I promise, I'll believe you."
She shook her head as her tears started to escape from her eyes. She looked up to stop her tears from falling but even so, her tears still stubbornly coming out of her eyes. It was suffocating; to cry and try not to make any noise so you don't ha
"What do you want to eat, Miss Celestine?" Balthazar asked as he was checking the refrigerator and the kitchen cabinets. As expected, the refrigerator is full and the spices are complete inside the cabinets same as the pastries section. "Anything that you can cook will do," she simply answered. Her eyes are wandering around the place trying to remember the first time she went to the resthouse to differentiate the changes that had happened to the house. She doesn't want to do anything other than wander her eyes all over the place and remain silent. Until now, she still has Vincent in her mind and the question he had asked her a while ago. She's somewhat thankful for what happened a while ago at the convenience store because if it didn't happen Vincent probably already confronted her inside of her hotel room. Although a part of her heart feels the need to talk to Vincent and explain everything she still couldn't exa
"Here's your order now," the waitress wearing a tight mini black skirt and a loose long sleeve shirt said as she placed a slice of chocolate cake and a tall iced coffee on Sophia's table which she ordered almost six minutes ago. "Thank you," she said to the waitress with a sweet smile on her lips before the waitress leaves. She's been waiting an hour now before she decides to finally order something just to keep herself busy while she is waiting. She checked her phone. She still hasn't received any text from him. It was Vincent that she was waiting for. She called him this afternoon to ask him out on a date. Well technically, not really a date, she just asked him to meet her for them to talk or have a little chitchat about her past that he promised to tell her about. Even though she's not seeing Kingston anywhere she's quite certain that he's somewhere watching her from afar. Until now, she's thinking of what benefit would King
"Balthazar please, we need you to lie. Please don't tell Victor that I'm seeing Mr. Daniel. W-What happened is just a coincidence. I didn't know that he was also in the same cafe that I was in. I'm begging you please don't tell this to him," Sophia pleaded while Celestine was cupping her mouth using her left hand as she do her best not to make any noise. The call wasn't on a loudspeaker. Celestine intend to not press the loudspeaker button when she figured out that it was Sophia that is calling Balthazar, afraid that the man might know that she answered the call that was supposed for him. "Please Balthazar. I'm not promising that this will be the last time that I'll see Mr. Daniel but the next time I see him, I'll avoid him right away..." Celestine remained standing in one corner with a hand covering her mouth. She doesn't understand why Sophia sound so scared but what she doesn't understand even more was why Sophia is calling Balthazar and she se
"V-Vincent..." Instead of answering Vincent pulled the chair across to Sophia and silently sit on it then he once again fixes his coat. Sophia gets back to her senses and sits on her chair again. A while ago, she already lose hope that Vincent will go to meet her and said to herself that if Vincent won't reply to her text, at least he is aware that she waited and still willing to wait for him. "I-I thought you won't come anymore," she said breaking the silence that she predicted to surround them if she wouldn't dare to be the first to speak. Vincent takes a deep breath then he fixes his wristwatch. "I attended a meeting a while ago and got preoccupied that I have forgotten that I was supposed to meet you three hours ago." "It's okay. I understand. By the way, do you want something to eat? You can order, my treat," she offered. "I'm not hungry." He crossed his arms on his chest. "So you mean to say that you
A knock from the door woke Celestine up. She sat on the bed and yawned; causing tears to escape from her eyes. She heard a knock on the door once again. "Who's there?" she asked while removing the sleep from her eyes. A while ago, she decided to just rest inside her room then she unconsciously fell asleep because of exhaustion. She won't be aware that she had fallen asleep if the knock didn't disturb her sleep. Lander outside the room is swallowing repeatedly as he couldn't find the right words to say to Celestine. He regret the things that come out of his mouth earlier and it took him an hour to think of the best way he could do to apologize to Celestine. His grip on the tray tightened before he open his mouth to speak. "It's Lander," he said, loud enough for Celestine to hear it. Celestine removed the duvet on her lap then she get out of the bed. She take a deep breath then she closed her eyes firmly for
Before the cab left, he took a picture of its plate number. He just wanted to make sure that Sophia will be safe. As the cab gets out of his sight, he looks at his wristwatch. It was already two o'clock in the morning and he still needs to do some work once he get into his office. Going home isn't part of his plan because he still needs to finish the work he left and even though he wanted to go straight to the resthouse to finally be with Celestine and have a talk with her, he can't, for he's setting his priorities right and he wanted to finish the things he needs to do to their business first before anything else. After checking the time, he started walking back to the cafe where he parked his car. Unexpectedly, he saw his uncle waiting for him, leaning his back on the car. He crossed the distance between them and put his hands on his pants pockets. "I need to go home. Move away from the car door," Vincent said in his most formal voice.&n
Celestine slowly opened her eyes as the sunlight shone on her face. She raised her tired arm and block the sunlight before she finally open her eyes. The sunlight isn't hurting her skin so she reckoned that it was still early in the morning. Despite feeling lazy to get up and start her day, she forced herself to sit on the bed to somewhat keep her stay awake. "Good morning, Miss Celestine," the maid greeted as soon as she sit on the bed. Celestine haven't noticed the maid that was already cleaning her room when she opened her eyes a while ago. The maid that greeted her is not familiar to her and she was certain that she hadn't seen her before. "You're a new maid?" she asked. The maid nodded. "Yes, Miss." "Why? What happened to the maids before?" Celestine asked after removing the duvet on her lap. "Mr. Vincent, changes his maid every month, Miss Celestine. And so, the old maids are not here a
"Boss," Balthazar said as he answered the call. "Have you already given the phone to Celestine?" Vincent asked as he was shaving. His phone is on a loudspeaker, resting on the side of the sink. "Yes, Boss," he immediately answered. "How come she's not answering my calls? Didn't I tell you to accompany her to the mall to go shopping this morning?" "She doesn't feel good, Boss. So she choose to just rest inside of her room," he reasoned. After shaving, Vincent wiped his chin using a clean towel then he picks his phone from the sink. "Why, what happened?" Vincent asked as he walk out of the bathroom. "She didn't explain what she really feel, Boss. All I know is she's not feeling good." "Alright. Just let her rest and if she needs anything, give or do it immediately." "Copy that, Boss," Balthazar said. Vincent ended the call and throw his phone on the bed. He's
