Chapter 2

Valerian's Point Of View.

"Are you serious about marrying that man's daughter?" Frank asked me, he's one of my trusted members of my mafia group. "You can just massacre the whole Dawson family, Sir."

I leaned back in my chair and spoke. "I have a plan, I'm just going to use his daughter so I choose to marry her," I explained.

"What's her name again? Alexandria? Alia?"

"It's Alice Hermione Dawson," I replied. I need to be close to his dad, Rowan. That coward and his mafia group, he committed an unforgivable sin against me and I will make sure he pays for what he did to me.

"Aren't you close to each other already? You're investing on his company. Isn't that enough for you to kill him?" Frank frowned, he took a cigarette and lit it. "If I were you, I would have killed that man long ago."

My jaw clenched. "I want him to suffer just like what he did to Vera," I murmured. 

My grip tightened on the beer I was holding because of the anger I was feeling, he's the reason why my girlfriend died. I felt the beer break because of my grip and I immediately saw blood on my hand but felt no pain.

"Why didn't you just marry her eldest daughter? I heard her name is Alana and she's a model," Frank said suddenly. "Than Alice who is not often seen in public."

"That's why I chose her to marry, I know she is not close to her family. So it will be easier for me to make her suffer and make her pay for what her family did," I answered and grinned. I can't wait to finally get justice for Vera.

And what happened was according to my plan, Rowan quickly agreed to let me marry his daughter. He's dumb, isn't he? It seems like he only thinks about money because he knows that his company will be successful if his daughter marries me because of the power, connection and wealth that I have. I never met his daughter in person but I saw her face in picture, she looks so fragile and weak.

And now that I'm facing her, I've proven that I can easily destroy her and use her to get revenge. "I'm Valerian Fernsby, it's such an honor to meet you, my Wife." I looked at her from head to toe. I quickly noticed the bandages on her legs even though they were hidden by her long black dress.

I'm uncomfortable being here in their mansion, in the mansion of the murderers. But I have to pretend that I am comfortable in their eyes. The urge I feel to take my gun and point it at Rowan's head and shoot him and next his family won't go away.

But I have to hold back because I have plans. This isn't the right time for their death.

I saw Alice force to nod because Rowan looked at her seriously, I secretly smirked. I was right, they're not in good terms.

"N-nice to meet you," she uttered. Her face looks so innocent just like her hazel brown eyes.

Is she really innocent that she can't even kill insects or is she just faking it in front of her parents? I kept the fake smile on my lips, when we were eating I listened carefully in their conversation. 

I noticed her silence by my side as if she was afraid of something. "I can't wait for you two to get married," Emma uttered, her mother. She who was looking at me so I faked a smile.

I can't wait to kill you too.

"In fact I already plan that your daughter and I will live in England when we get married, Madame," I murmured and watched Alice's reaction. I saw her drop the fork she was holding and her lips parted in shock.

"R-really?" she asked and looked at me. I don't know what's running on her mind right now, is she happy or not? She should only be happy because she will die in my hands.

I smiled. "Yeah, are you excited?" 

Rowan was looking at her seriously so she smiled. "Of course," she answered and returned to her food.

My hometown is actually in England and the mafia group that I lead is also living there. That's why I decided to temporarily leave there because I had to kill Rowan and his family. 

I saw him lips parted but he didn't speak and I secretly grinned. 

Rowan is smart and he knows that his enemy is in England, will he disagree to his daughter living in my hometown? Because he knew in himself that he could never go to that country because the moment he did that would be his death.

No enemy of mine can set foot their on my territory.

Days passed and the day of our wedding has come and I swear to God that was the day I wished would never come because I don't want to marry that man's daughter. The only woman I was going to marry was Vera but she is gone now. All I could think about was killing the Dawson family as I watched Alice walk down the aisle. If Vera was still here, she would be here in the church and that's impossible because she is not here.

A line appeared between my brows when I noticed the tears in Alice's eyes while she was walking. When our eyes met I saw not happiness, but sadness. I'm not stupid enough not to notice that she doesn't want this marriage either. But she can't do anything because she has to pay for his family did to my girlfriend.

Our wedding was private and not many people were invited. I chose that to avoid trouble, the invitees were mostly businessmen and businesswomen. They were very happy and smiling at me and Alice, I was happy too.

I'm happy because soon I'll watch the downfall of the Dawson family.

Alice's Point Of View.

When I was young, I always wondered what kind of man I would marry. Who is he? Have we known each other for a long time? I want to know how much he loves me. Marriage is so important to me, so when I found out I was going to marry someone I didn't know, I felt a great fear.

I never thought I would marry someone I didn't love and who didn't love me.

Marriage is a mutual promise between two people to share their lives with each other, sometimes I think differently about marriage every time I look at Mom and Dad because their marriage is something I don't want to experience. Sometimes I don't even know if they love each other.

And now, it looks like I will experience the married life they both have. I can't believe that no matter how much I begged them not to marry me to that man, they didn't listen to me. And the worst part is I have to go to England to live with that man.

"Pack your things, Valerian will pick you up later," Dad seriously said and left my room.

I couldn't speak anymore, they didn't even take my opinion on whether I wanted to live in England and it made me pissed. I'm too tired to disagree because I know Dad will just scold me.

I heard that Valerian lives in England so he choose that country that we both lived there. I'll admit that he's indeed handsome, and I know many women like him, but why does he prefer an arranged marriage? I don't know why he chose me to marry when he had many options. How I wish he only married Alana instead of me.

I don't know if I will be happy when I leave this mansion. Yes, I've wanted to leave for a long time but I don't want to live in another mansion with a guy I don't even know.

I still can't accept that I'm already married. I look at my ring, Dad said it was made by Cartier and It features a gorgeous 10.48-carat emerald-cut diamond flanked by two colorless, baguette-cut diamonds in a classic design. 

Does a ring really need to be this expensive?

I sighed before packing my things, I put all my things in the luggage. When Dad came back, he said that Valerian was already outside our mansion, so I immediately left my room with my luggage.

Dad and Mom also seem willing to let me go to England, so they don't care if I leave the mansion. I don't know if they are happy that I won't be living in the mansion anymore but I know Alana is happy. She said then that she wanted to get rid of me for a long time.

From outside the mansion I saw Valerian and his butler waiting for me, when they saw me the butler quickly took my things.

"Take care of my daughter, Valerian," I heard Dad murmured.

I saw Valerian smiled and nodded. "Of course, Sir," he answered and looked at me so I quickly look away.

I don't know what kind of person he is, even though he always smiles, I still feel something different about him. I feel like he's just faking himself in front of us.

And when it's just the two of us, that's when he'll show me his true self.
