Fights arguments and America

Ava's pov

"I can't let you go there alone, Ava," Alex said, his voice laced with concern when I told him I was going to find that gold.

"Alex, I'm not a kid. I'm capable of taking care of myself," I said firmly and he paced around the room.

"What if Julian sees you at the mafia's party huh?" He asked, his brow furrowed with worry.

"He doesn't attend parties like that. Stop stressing," I said, trying to assure him.

"I don't feel good about this. We should go together. I will drop everything and come with you," he insisted.

"You can't do that, Alex. You have important meetings to attend. Just calm down and let me handle this," I said.

"Are you sure about this? You should be the one panicking and not even me," he muttered, shaking his head.

"I have nothing to worry about. Max will be with me and we are leaving tomorrow," I informed him, his eyes widened in surprise.

"Why tomorrow? The party isn't until next week!" he exclaimed.

"We need to gather information about the party's details, Alex," I reminded him.

"I don't like this plan of yours," he said, frowning.

"And I don't like that you don't trust me," I said, feeling irritated.

"I'm sorry, Ava. I just want you to be safe. I don't trust what julian might do to you," he said, wrapping his arms around me.

I only hummed, he began to trail kisses up my neck.

"Alex, I'm not in the mood," I pulled away, and he sighed.

"Ava," he called out, but i left him standing alone in my room. I knew he was upset, but i had to find that gold.

I packed my bags and left the room, where Alex was with Aiden.

"Mommy, Daddy said you are traveling! We don't want you to go!" Aiden yelled.

I turned to Alex and he shrugged. "I'm going for business, sweetie," I explained.

"Can we come with you?" he asked, crossing his arms. "It's not safe, Aiden. You can't come with me," I said.

He pouted sadly and I kissed his forehead.

"I will buy you ice cream before I leave," I whispered, and he hugged me.

"Thank you Mommy," he said, before walking away.

"Alex, why did you tell Aiden I was traveling?" I asked, feeling frustrated.

"Is it a crime that i care about you?" He asked, giving me his puppy dog eyes.

"You are acting like a child. You are worse than Aiden," I teased, and he pouted sadly.

Just then, my phone rang. "Max, what's it?" I asked him.

"I made my findings and the mafia party is happening to tonight not next week," he informed me.

"Okay, get ready and meet me at the house. We will use Alex's private jet," I said and ended the call.

"I have to go now, Alex. The party is tonight," I said, and he frowned.

"Be safe," he said, giving me a brief hug. We shared a quick kiss and I left.

America

As I stepped off the jet, memories of this place flooded my mind. I tried to push thoughts of Julian aside.

"We are close to the location. The party starts in an hour," Max Said.

We ordered a car and he drove us down to a hotel not far from the event. We booked two rooms for three nights.

I sighed when I entered my room. I texted Alex to let him know i was safe, then got ready for the party.

I went to take a shower and changed into a long black sleeveless gown with a slit down my thigh.

My hair in a messy bun, and I used a black fancy mask to conceal my identity.

I loaded my gun and kept it beneath my gown. I also kept a sharp knife in my purse for protection.

I walked out of my room and Max was waiting outside already. He bowed slightly and we both went into the car.

Sounds of soft music was been heard outside the building of the event.

"You stay close to me always," I ordered Max and he nodded. He wore a bulletproof vest under his suit.

We walked into the building and blended into the crowd, our eyes scanning the room.

I walked towards a table with Max following me behind closely. Few people used masks on their face while some used sunglasses like Max.

"Attention everyone!" An elderly man announced, his voice echoing through the room. Everyone turned their attention to him.

"The main purpose of this party is to sell the most expensive gold which will worth hundred billion dollars by the end of the year," he continued.

I exchanged a glance with Max, surprised that the gold was already on the market.

Alex and I bought the gold from India for ten billion dollars. We kept it in care of Max but it got stolen by one of the guys working for us.

"The gold was sold to me all the way from Mexico for five billion dollars," he explained further.

I waited impatiently for the man to continue. "I'm sorry to disappoint you all but, the mafia leader, Julian Reed has purchased the gold for thirty billion dollars," he said before dropping the microphone.

My jaw dropped, and my heart raced as i processed the unexpected turn of events.

Julian Reed, my ex husband, now possessed the gold i was searching for.

"Who is Julian?" Max whispered, his voice barely audible.

"A mafia leader," I replied him and he nodded.

"Where is he? How do we get the gold?" He asked, his eyes scanning the room.

"I have no idea," I said.

I glanced around the room, hoping to catch a glimpse of Julian. But he was no where to be found.

"Julian is a powerful man but we need to find that gold no matter what it takes," I said to Max.

"We will get it, boss. I promise," he nodded, his eyes fixed on the stage.

"Let's get to work, we have a gold to steal," I said.
