Confrontation

Ava's pov

I walked towards a hallway, pretending i was looking for the restroom. Most of the doors were locked, one particular door was opened.

"We have to check this room," I whispered to Max and he agreed.

"Stay outside and signal me if anyone is coming," I ordered. I removed my heels and tiptoed into the room.

There was only a dim light reflecting off a box which was on the table. I walked towards it and saw the gold inside.

I sighed in relief and grabbed the box. Suddenly, I felt a hand choking my neck.

I screamed loudly for Max to hear, but I got no response from him.

"This room is soundproof," the person whispered into my ear. The voice sounded familiar, and I hoped it wasn't Julian.

He released the pressure on my neck, and I hit him between his legs. The box was still in my hands, i didn't bother to check the person.

He groaned and i quickly walked towards the door to open. The box fell from my hands when I felt the cold metal on my head.

"Turn around with your eyes closed," he ordered, and I obeyed.

I hadn't gotten the chance to look at their face. "Who the fuck are you?" He asked angrily, still familiar.

I didn't say anything, and he pushed me roughly onto a bed. I opened my eyes and met the shock of my life.

The person was Julian, he had changed. He looked older and stressed, like he had been through a lot.

He used to be muscular but he was thinner now. His brown eyes were dull and lifeless.

"Talk before I shoot you," he warned in an angry voice. My heart was racing, and I took in a deep breath.

I decided to play this game my own way to escape. He could pull the trigger if he gets angry. I wanted to see the shock on his face when he saw me.

I removed the mask from my face slowly, and the gun fell from his hands. His mouth was open, and his face full of shock.

I quickly grabbed his gun and pointed it at him instead. "Ava, Ava. Is this really you?" He asked in disbelief

I smirked at his reaction. "The one and only, Julian," I replied with a smile.

" Put your hands up," I ordered him and he obeyed. I searched his pockets for any dangerous items but found none.

I opened the door and called Max inside. He held the box of gold while I still held the gun to Julian's head.

"How do you know how to use a gun? How did you know about this gold? What are you doing here?" He asked.

"The gold belongs to me," I said and he shook his head.

"The gold is mine, Ava. Don't play dangerous game with me," he warned and I smiled.

He hadn't changed, he was still the same Julian i used to know. "Is that a threat?" I questioned.

"Don't mess with me," he warned and tried to grab the gun from my hand.

Max tried to intervene, but I told him not too. If he thinks this was the old Ava he had laid his hands on five years ago then he is wrong.

As we struggled for the gun, it fell across the room. I quickly grabbed my knife from my purse and pointed it at him.

"You are the one who shouldn't mess with me," I said and he stared at me.

His eyes roamed all over my body and we locked eyes when he looked up.

"Who is your boss?" He asked, and I chuckled.

"She is our boss, dude. She is the wife of the mafia leader in Mexico," Max replied him.

"You are Alex's wife?" He asked in disbelief. I didn't respond, I walked towards the door but he grabbed my arm.

"You married someone who ......" He said but stopped. I raised a curious brow.

"Someone who what?" I asked, and he shook his head.

"Don't go away with that gold, Ava. It's mine now," he warned.

"It was never yours, Julian," I said. "I will hunt you and get this gold from you" he threatened.

"I will like to see you try," I muttered with a wink and walked out.

Max and I left the event headed back to the hotel. When I got into my hotel room, I kept the gun and knife in the drawer.

I hid in the gold in my bags of clothes. My heart was still beating heavily from the drama that happened earlier.

Seeing julian again brought back all the memories we shared years ago. I felt guilty for lying to Aiden about who his biological father was.

I also felt bad for hiding Julian away from his son. "He doesn't deserve to know," I muttered to myself repeatedly.

A knock on the door pulled me out of my thoughts. I went to the door and my eyes widened when I saw Julian standing there.

"What are you doing here? How did you even know this place?" I asked, trying to hide the shock from my voice.

"I have my ways, Ava. I came here to talk to you," he replied, his eyes locked on mine.

I shook my head at him. "There's nothing to talk about," I said.

"You have become fiesty changed so much over the years," he whispered as he walked closer to me.

I could feel his breath on my face, and my heart skipped a beat. "You still want me after everything?" He whispered, his lips close to mine.

I felt my own body betraying me, and i knew i had to push him away. But before i could, i heard Alex's voice behind me.

"Get your filthy hands off my wife," he growled. I felt a pang of guilt within me as I stared at the two men that was ready to kill each other.
