Five years later

Ava's pov

"Mommy! I want to go play in the park," my son, Aiden exclaimed, his big brown eyes pleading with me.

"Mommy is busy now, sweetie. Go meet your nanny she will take you," I said as i gave him a gentle kiss on his forehead.

"I want you or daddy to take me," he whined, crossing his arms and i sighed.

"Aiden, we will take you to the park on Saturday okay? Just go meet your nanny," I assured him.

"Promise?" He asked and I nodded. He didn't seem satisfied and I rolled my eyes.

"Promise," I replied and he ran off. Kids can be so difficult and Aiden was stubborn like his father.

Alex, my husband, approached me and gave me a warm kiss.

"Hey babe," Alex said. I shivered at the feeling of his lips on mine.

"I thought you were asleep," I said smiling up at him and he groaned.

"Aiden's voice woke me up," he replied chuckling.

"He is so stubborn," I complained, rolling my eyes. Alex smirked and wrapped his arms round my waist.

"I want more kids running around in this house, babe," he said.

"We have discussed this several times, Alex. I am not having anymore children soon," I reminded him firmly.

Alex frowned as we both sat on the couch. "You still haven't let go of the past, Ava," he muttered softly.

I couldn't deny because it was true. Since moving to Mexico, Alex has been nice to me.

We got married based on a contract at first but he fell in love with me when I had Aiden.

Alex loved my son like his own, but I struggled to reciprocate his love. I have tried to love him but something was pulling me back.

Everytime i looked at Aiden, I saw Julian in him. Everything about them was the same.

Alex and I had planned our revenge against Julian before we leaving America but we hadn't taken action yet.

I had trained alongside Alex to be a strong woman physically. He taught me how to fight, how to use a gun and other things about mafia.

I represented Alex in many mafia's meeting and earned respect from our peers.

"Alex..." I called his name and saw sadness in his eyes.

"What else do you want from me? Why can't you love me like i love you?" He asked, his voice laced with pain.

I drew a deep breath feeling guilty. I knew i hurt Alex, but i couldn't change my feelings.

"Alex, I love you," I whispered trying to assure him but he shook his head.

"You don't love me, Ava. I see it in you, your heart still belongs to Julian," he said.

I stood up and sat on his lap, locking eyes with him.

His gaze held love and pain. I pressed my lips against his. It was a gentle kiss and he sighed, breaking the embrace.

"I will fight for you, Ava," he whispered

We sat together, embracing each other's warmth.

"I need to go get my phone," I said when I heard my phone ring and he nodded.

"Hello boss," Max, my personal assistant said.

"What's up?" I asked him.

"We found him, boss. The one who stole the gold worth of ten billion dollars," he replied and I smiled.

"Good job. Wait for me at the house, i'm on my way," I said and ended the call.

I turned to see Alex standing behind me. "Were you eavesdropping?" I teased trying to lighten up the mood.

"Not at all, boss lady," he replied, grinning and I chuckled.

"I have to go. The guys are waiting for me," I said and he nodded.

"Don't kill the poor guy because I know you. Your hands are quick to pull the trigger," he advised, his eyes sparkling with amusement.

"Okay," I nodded. I changed into a black hoodie and sweatpants.

I pulled my hair into a ponytail and stared at the reflection of my self in the mirror.

My experience for five years had changed me. The person standing was the new Ava. I was proud of my new self and person i had become. The strong and confident Ava.

I left the house and went to the car garage. I chose the 2024 model Ferrari and drove down to the house.

"Welcome boss," one of the guards greeted me with a bow. I nodded and entered.

A guy was tied on the chair with blood all over him. Max has done him dirty and I liked it.

"Welcome boss," Max said. I walked closer to the guy and grabbed his jaw.

"Where is my gold?" I demanded in an authoritative voice. "I don't know where it is," he replied in a shaky voice.

Max and I exchanged glances. "I will ask you for the very last time, young man. Where is my gold?" I asked impatiently.

"I don't know where your gold is," he repeated. Anger raged in me, i grabbed my gun and cocked it.

I pointed the gun to his head and he struggled to free himself. "Are you ready to talk or not?" I questioned.

"Your gold is in amer.. ica. It will be sold at a mafia party ne..xt week in front of everyone," he stammered.

I took a step back, signaling Max to come closer.

"Waste him," I whispered to Max. "Yes boss," he answered and I walked out of the building.

I heard the sound of a gun silencing the man who dared to cross me. My mind raced with thoughts of the gold and my inevitable return to America.

The thought sent shivers down my spine but i knew it was necessary. I had to retrieve my stolen gold.

I slid into my Ferrari and sped away from the scene. I thought about the coming mafia party where my gold will be sold to the highest bidder.

I couldn't let that happen, I had to get it first. Was Julian going to be at the party? What does he look like now?

I shook my head and pushed the thoughts of Julian aside and focused on the task at hand.
