Emily woke up fazed, she thought she's still in her bed at her home. But she realized the situation when she looked around, she's sitting and beside her is Richard driving with a completely straight face.
She bit her lower lip, thinking of the best thing to do. 'Why didn't he wake me up? Am I fired now? Just because of sleeping?' Her forehead creased 'nah, that's too absurd,' her attention drew back to the person driving beside her. His side profile is alluring enough so she couldn't take her eyes off him. Those sharp jaws were surely deadly! Emily caught her breath when Richard suddenly gazed in her direction. Seeing Emily awake and taken aback, he raised his brow, "sleep some more, the airport is still far from here. I'll just wake you up once we reach it" She clicked her tounge, wondering what had gotten into her boss–Richard, for him to be this kind and allow her to sleep. It's been two minutes but Richard still feels the stare coming from his passenger, Emily's not even blinking! "Stop that, you're creeping me out" Emily adamantly looked away, "oh, sorry" she didn't want to waste the opportunity to rest so she quickly leaned her back to the seat and closed her eyes. She did her best to go back to her deep slumber but she just couldn't because she can feel someone looking at her. Before she could even open her eyes, she heard Richard whispered 'cute.' As if that's a magic word, she returned to her sleep. True to what Richard told her, he did woke her up and they were right in front of the airport. When they stepped outside the car, someone was walking towards them. That someone stopped in front of Richard and he bowed his head. "Hi Mr. Cooper, I am the one assigned to accompany you to the Philippines." He informed him and stood up straight to face Emily and he also bowed to her. For someone who serves Richard, the man was very nonchalant and even though his gesture was meant to be polite, he sounded menacing. He was looking at Emily as he introduced himself, "I am Alias, you can also call me 'Ali.'" Richard only nodded and then he started to walk towards the private airplane that's parked just near them. Both Ali and Emily followed him. Ali also started a conversation to Emily, much to Richard's annoyance as he can hear them even though they are at his back. "Emily right? Mr. Cooper's new secretary?" He asked. Emily smiled radiantly because finally, she's got someone to chat with. Aside from the fact that she lacked sleep, she had been bored the whole ride earlier which was why she fell asleep. "Yeah" "It's true indeed," he smiled at her, but stopped his gaze on her eyes. Those blue eyes felt like summoning Alias, so he couldn't help but compliment them. "You have beautiful eyes." Emily gets that a lot so she only smiled sweetly. "Thanks." "So how's the boss temper?" She grimaced. "he's bearable," is the only thing she can say in whispher because she doesn't want Richard to hear it. Alias laughed, he didn't even lower his voice even though he knew Richard was listening. "I like you, you're pretty, kind and witty," he sounds delighted. Richard suddenly turned his back to them, "Silence, you're so noisy" he was looking at both of them as he hissed, his gazes were sharp. Alias just snorted, "Relax, I'm just checking out your girlfriend" Richard's stare became even more intense, "exactly, she's my girlfriend so back off." Emily was taken aback when Richard pulled her closer to him and held her hand so they could walk together. They even heard Alias's laugh at the back as he said, "possessive much?" Richard ignored him and when they reached the plane, he asked Emily to seat beside him so Alias won't do any funny business. Emily on the other hand complied, but was actually thinking. It's quite entertaining that Alias can piss off Richard and Richard seems like he can't do anything about it other than to snap back. Seems like Mr. Cooper met his match. They were seating side by side and Alias was behind them. Emily was so sure she'll be bored to death and she didn't want to sleep again since she already slept earlier so she looked for an entertainment and her eyes landed on the small screen in front of them. It's a private plane and each row has a cable screen attached in front. "Can I?" She asked without looking at Richard. "What?" He sounds aloof but Emily disregarded it. She pointed at the screen and finally looked at him to ask for permission. He nodded but he said a condition, "just don't play any horror movies, I hate them" Because of that, Emily looked at him knowingly so Richard has his brows turned into a knot, "I'm not scared." "Then why not? I love them though," she meant not to answer him back and just obliged but she couldn't help her curiosity. Richard was about to talk when someone from behind stood up and interrupted him, Alias snaked his arms on their seat and sneaked in to see both of them. "He's just scared, that's all" he was laughing as he pointed Richard who was flatly giving him a death stare. "Remember when you shouted before because of–" He was cut off when Richard tsked. "Do you want me to drop you off the plane this instant?" Alias retaliated but he went back to his seat quietly. Emily laughed because of that, she's even giving Richard a questioning look asking if that's true. "Do you want to watch or not?" He's clearly annoyed so Emily just cleared her throat. "Play any horror movies and I will break that damn screen in front of you." Emily pouted and quickly turned on the device. She just chose an animated film, "Coco" because she haven't watched it, she's curious because she heard it's good. She focused on watching and found herself sobbing in the part where the grandma and coco sang. It was a good movie and it was worth the cry. "Too sentimental and emotionally manipulative" Emily glanced over Richard when she heard him talk but the man had his eyes closed. She thought of just ignoring him when he spoke again. He whisphered but Emily clearly heard it. "I hate it...Family."The plane landed, and the moment Emily set foot on Philippine soil, she felt refreshed all over her body. It was one of her dream destinations, and even though the weather was hot and humid, she brushed it off because she was enjoying roaming her eyes around and taking in the view. She was even smiling at everyone she met eyes with. The residents were clearly perplexed and stunned, but they warmly returned her smiles, which Emily appreciated so much. "Someone's excited." Alias suddenly showed up beside her, smirking like an idiot. "And someone's fuming mad." Emily glanced over at Richard, who was behind them. His forehead was creased, his lips were thinned, and his jaw was clenched—he seemed like he was about to explode at any moment. Emily bit her lip. Her boss was acting that way because one of the staff on the plane earlier had accidentally spilled juice on Richard's coat. It was time for dinner, but Emily couldn’t even glance in Richard’s direction without turning bright red. She could still vividly recall how he had nearly seduced her earlier. That devil in a black suit, matching pants, leather shoes, and slicked-back hair was already captivating enough—exhilarating, even. But seeing him with just a towel covering his lower body? That was beyond tempting. Whatever he had been planning, however, was abruptly cut short when Nate called. Emily had to take a deep breath and compose herself before answering. Her brother was just checking in on her, asking how she was doing and what she thought of the Philippines so far. He mentioned wanting to visit the country himself since they both had the same purpose for traveling—to help others. Kindness, it seemed, ran deep in their blood. But when Nate brought up Richard, his tone shifted. He warned her, over and over, not to let him take advantage of her. His words caught Emily so off guard that she fe
"In the opitive world of billionaires, where wealth and power reign supreme, one man stood at the pinnacle of success—Richard Beaufort Cooper, the enigmatic and ruthless CEO of Cooper Corporation." Edward read the introduction of the article written about his grandson, who was sitting in front of him. He scoffed, "Ruthless? This is an understatement, mi ijo." He was sarcastically laughing. Richard, on the other hand, was fuming mad. At the back of his head, he was already planning how to destroy the writer—or the whole publishing company. "It's not funny," he said, still enraged. "Yes, it's not," Edward said seriously, and Richard flinched when his grandfather suddenly flicked his forehead. He wanted to glare at him, but then he saw how Edward was looking at him with clear frustration. "I don't know what to do with you. Richard, you're not a child anymore—firing over a hundred employees and ruining a couple of publishing companies won't do you any good." Edward said in a strict
Emily is just a simple girl–to be exact, she's rather plain. Plain annoying, plain energetic, plain confident, plain pretty, and plain kind. The truth? She's a person walking on eggshells every single day. If you see her personally, you'll definitely fall for her beauty, but once you get to know her, you might want to head-butt her. She has a hefty sum of money she needs to pay and a brother she needs to support. It's true that she's very diligent in her work, but her last job fired her because of her principles in life. That was her main source of income, but she rejected her boss after he told her to do something illicit for the company. Well-knowing their status in life, she wouldn't say no to that, but knowing there are people who'll suffer because of what they asked her to do, she'd rather not eat for a day or two than do something inhumane. So she resigned. After a day or two of not eating properly and seeing her brother hungry, she regretted her decision – just a little. T
It's been three days since Emily started working under the CEO, Richard Beaufort Cooper. That fact alone was astonishing for Richard. Emily was shaking inwardly, her thoughts were consuming her as she ate cup noodles with her younger brother. He leaned forward, his eyes filled with concern. If she were to describe her brother, she'd say adorable. Nate was already eighteen years old and he's one of those popular boys at school, not only because of his looks but also because of his charm and intelligence.
