Narek’s POV

I stared hard at the girl in front of me, whose eyes wielded the same intensity as mine.

I had no idea she’d be such a handful. Ms Pendleton painted her to be an angel but the girl in front of me was far from angelic, even though her features appeared to be.

“What did you say?” I asked her as she slowly rose to her feet, holding on to my stern gaze.

“I’m not going to let you toss me around. I’ve had enough of that.” She growled. Easy there, tiger.

“Look, I don’t have time for any of this drama, Uren princess and I couldn’t care less about the unfortunate events that have taken place in your life, so you either get out, or kneel as punishment for your misbehaviour.”

I had my eyes on her, watching her every move, but nothing prepared me for what she did next.I could have sworn she’d gone mad, because she swung her hand toward my face, trying to hit me but I stopped her midway and her hands hung there in the air.

“Are you out of your mind?” I snapped, keeping her hands hangin

Chapter 25 Nyx POV I walked out of the temple that night in utter confusion, still dumbfounded about what went down back there. One moment I was lashing out at Narek as his words stung my soul, the next moment I felt power burst out of me, engulfing me whole. I tried to wrap my head around what happened, but it made no sense. I wasn’t a witch or a powerful fae so how in the world did that happen? Besides, witches need wands and spells before they can perform magic, but what happened back there wasn’t connected to any spell I may have thought of or muttered. Was that a new form of magic or was I just a freak of nature with unharnessed powers? I wondered if Aunt Garcia or mother knew about this. I had so many unanswered questions but there was no one to answer them. What made this even more perplexing was that Narek denied it ever happening. Why did he have to lie? The glimpse of shock in his eyes made me suspicious that he had to be hiding something. I stopped by a pond, staring

Otis's POVMy blood boiled with anger as I walked through the woods in the dark of the night, relying on my wolf vision to guide my path. I couldn’t believe that Narek Carne dude had the guts to punish my Nyx Uren.Only I had the right to punish her. Now it made sense why I never liked him since the first day he introduced himself as the new Morphology teacher. I had to be sure he didn’t miss his way to some modelling show because he sure wasn’t dressed like a teacher. Dude looked like he was off to a show, but unfortunately, he was right. He was the new teacher.Whenever I see him, all I want to do is punch that smug smirk on his lips when stupid bimbos shamelessly swoon over him. I wonder why the board would allow such a young, inexperienced teacher into our prestigious school. How could they trust that he was even teaching us the right thing? With how young he was, did he even finish grad school? What made me always want to gag was how he thought he was so awesome. That haughty l

Nyx POV“Ugh, this is infuriating!” Narin screamed in frustration. “It’s been just a day since I last used my powers and it feels like forever.”“I’m sorry, Narin.” Came my reply as I watched her pace about in the room from where I was seated on my vanity dresser. “Don’t be.” She huffed, plopping on her bed.“It’s not like it’s your fault or anything.”“But it sort of is…” I sighed, running a brush through my platinum curls as I reluctantly prepared for my class with Narek.“Well, since you’re so generous to take the blame, then yeah. It is your fault.” She narrowed her eyes on me. “Now what are you going to do about it?”“Um…” I stuttered, feeling the air growing more uncomfortable. “I dunno…was just trying to sympathize I guess.”Narin scoffed. “Like you don’t have your own problems to worry about.”“Ugh, you’re right.” I shuddered, allowing the memories of the day before to flood my mind. All thanks to Aunt Garcia, I have to go to Narek everyday for my training even though every c

Narek's POVSeated in front of Nyx, I watched her struggle with the truth, unable to believe it as her reality. I couldn’t blame her though. When Ms Pendleton, Nyx’s aunt, opened up about Nyx’s true nature as a witch, I was quite doubtful myself and I had my reservations. But after what I saw yesterday, I knew there was something more to Nyx than she appeared. It was safe to say I underestimated her powers, until I saw it unfold with my eyes. If this discovery goes the way we imagine, then Nyx is going to need more than her powers to remain at Salvador Academy. If anyone else suspects she’s a hybrid, the authorities would flock the school like flies. “Why are you looking at me like that?” Nyx suddenly asked and I recoiled.“What do you mean?”“You made the face. The sorry face.” She arched her brows, her eyes searching deep.“Do you feel pity for me?.”“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” I waved her off. “Now can we get down to business? Today’s training is going to be a littl

Chapter 30Nyx POVI had no idea what came over me, but one moment I was staring into Narek’s eyes, watching him as he pronounced the words in the spell and the next I felt a warm sensation flood my chest. Narek looked…different. He always had this hard exterior whenever I was around, but the way he taught me seemed real. Like he was finally being himself. Like he had finally let down his guard. His shoulders were less tense, his eyes were softer and even his forehead had lost its frown wrinkles. Then his lips…There was something about the way his lips moved that was so…mesmerizing. “Got it?” Narek asked me, after making the right pronunciation of the spell and I nodded, even though I wasn’t sure I’d gotten it entirely. I was just so distracted by how close he was to me. His face was so close to me and I realized that I didn’t think much about how he looked until that moment.I knew he was good-looking, alright. But I couldn't get past his shitty attitude towards me, but now that h

  • Taming The Reaper's Heir   Chapter 32: Troubled

Nyx’s POV Days went by, and it got increasingly awkward attending lessons with Narek. Unfortunately, there was no one to complain to. I couldn’t tell Aunt Garcia I wanted to stop just because I didn’t feel comfortable. I’d have to think of something else, but till then, the torture continues. The awkwardness in the room was so thick that it made bile rise up in my throat. I’d half-expected him to address what happened that day, but he’d just continue with the training like none of it happened. But it did. I couldn’t shove it out of my mind and pretend it was all a figment of my imagination, and I craved closure. I wanted to know why he pushed me away. I wanted to know why he kissed me back it the first place. Maybe the answers were obvious, but I wanted to hear it directly from the horse’s mouth. Knowing Narek, I wasn’t going to get the closure I wanted. That man was tougher to crack than an acorn. To think he was starting to come out of his shell before I let my hormones cloud m

Nyx's POV I felt all the blood in my face drain in seconds, I was suddenly pallid and was just staring back at those eyes in the woods. Then suddenly, whomever it was that those pair of red eyes belonged to turned away from me and disappeared into thin air. I staggered backwards, gasping violently for air. I had been terrified that I forgot how to breath. "What creature was that anyway?" I asked rhetorically, looking around in horror. "I better get out of here" I muttered within myself and began hurrying out of the bush, my heart palpitating in trepidation. I heard the leaves ruffle again and increased my pace. For all I know, the creature might still be lurking about and the worst thing I would do is to stop or even slow down in the middle of nowhere. "What if it is a rogue? I'm certain it wouldn't waste a second in tearing me apart and as expected, I will be too weak to fight back" The thought of being shredded, limbs to limbs freaked me out. My hurried strides broke into

  • Taming The Reaper's Heir   Chapter 34: Bonding

Nyx's POV The next morning, I woke up to the annoying cries of the stupid bird that perched on Narin's window. It was different from the bird that Narin caused to disappear the other day but made just as much noise as the other bird did. It's coos were so loud and unnerving, I wondered why it should be the first sound one had to hear straight out of bed, every morning. I turned to Narin who looked like she was going to explode anytime soon. Her pillow was pressed tightly at the sides of her head to shield her ears from the bird's cries and her teeth gritted against the other in both frustration and annoyance. A sigh left my lips when I recalled Aunt Gacia, or rather, Miss Pendleton's punishment. Narin was never to use her magic for any reason for a whole week and that pisses her off so much. If not for the punishment, I was certain Narin must have created a whole different item out of the bird that was making blaring sounds by now with just a flick of her fingers. I picked my

Nyx's POV "Noooo" I yelled and fell to my knees. Ms. Toddleboar's warning resounded in my eardrums. "A war is coming and it is your fight. It is going to be a deadly one, you will lose your loved ones but at last, you shall be victorious. But you have to be ready and face all you meet, else you fall into the darkness and your ability taken away from you like it never existed in the first place" This was what she was speaking about, my eyes turned to Narek who was sprawled on the floor, his eyes held so much pain as he gazed into mine. Aman stood above him, panting heavily as blood trickled down his injured face. Clyde's tattoos and runes had finally wiped away from his skin and he fell limply to the floor, drained. Tears gushed out of my eyes as I clasped my hand over my mouth and cried bitterly. Aman moved away from Narek's side and joined Otis who was standing beside Sylvia. "No, no, no this can't be happening" I muttered breathlessly, running towards Narek who was hardly

Nyx's POV "I came back as soon as I sensed you were out of your hiding after searching for you all over the woods. How dare you stress me out like that!" Sylvia scolded me. Her voice was coated in anger which she had bottled up in her chest. I rolled my eyes inwardly. "You ingrate, I have tried everything to explain things to you but you wouldn't adhere. In the long run, you too shall be rewarded greatly only if you and your aunt allowed this exercise to take place. But what did you two do instead? Invite your weak friends to stand up against us and now you are yelling for us to stop tormenting them" "I am no ingrate Sylvia and I wish to remind you that this mission will remain impossible as far as I am still alive and breathing" I retorted and she smiled darkly. "Even if it costs the life of your dear mate and friends?" She asked while raising her hands in the air and at the same time, a dark energy enveloped Otis, Narek, and Clyde, raising them high in the sky as they struggl

Nyx's POV After some time of resting just like Clyde suggested, the antidote worked fervently and Claire bounced back to life in minutes. I was glad she was now safe but at the same time, I needed to make sure my mates, Narek and Otis were okay as well. "No Nyx, it's dangerous. I can't let you go out there alone" Clyde stopped me when I was about living our temporary hideout. "Then come with me. This is my battle Clyde and I won't be able to bear it if they lose their life in my place. Remember what happened in the case of Miss Pendleton, I wouldn't be able to bear losing another loved one to the hands of those evil beings" I returned stubbornly. He rubbed his face in frustration, "Still Nyx, I don't think it is right for you to come out to join the fight. I have been in a fight with Otis and I could tell you that with the ability he possesses, he will do well in taking care of the Sorcerers. Not to talk of Narek who is a master in the arts of magic, defense, and attacks" Clyde

  • Taming The Reaper's Heir   Chapter 138: My Vulnerable State

Narek's POV The pain I felt from trying to break free from the barrier of radiant energy I was trapped in was agonizing and I roared loudly in frustration. My mind wandered back to Nyx who had run off long before now and Aman is back already. I wondered if she is safe and neither Aman nor Sylvia were able to get to her. Those sorcerers did not seem like they were going to give me some time to absorb the electrifying effects their cage was pushing into my skin as Gin formed some sort of dark ball and sent it my way. This was me in my vulnerable state, I was bound and unable to easily break free from the cocoon they put their hands together to create. It was a powerful one that was sizzling with electric fury and threatening to burn my skin as soon as I attempt breaking away. The dark ball penetrated into my chest and I howled out in pain, the effect constricting my heart in such a painful manner, I thought he was going to pull it out of my body. Odin did not seem like he was don

  • Taming The Reaper's Heir   Chapter 137: A Demon Warlock

Otis's POV The Sorcerer who was standing just before Narek's frail body fell to the floor due to the impact of my wolf's collision with him and the older one instantly rushed to his side to help him up. I made my way to Narek's side, still in my wolf form, and licked his wounds to express my concern. He squinted his eyes at me, trying to make out my identity and when he did, he released a frustrated sigh. "Otis, you still came after all I told you" he grumbled and groaned in pain, "Nyx, have you seen her anywhere?" He managed to ask amidst the growl that was coming from his throat. Narek's bones began to crack and his skin color began to change, I could tell he was on the verge of transformation, and quickly stepped away from him. I had just taken four steps backward when my feet were suddenly swept off the floor but I was quick to regain my composure due to Xavier's inner strength and resilience. My eyes met with that of the older Sorcerer who was glaring at me coldly. He se

  • Taming The Reaper's Heir   Chapter 136: A Good Show

Narek's POV Once Nyx began running away from the evil sorcerers for safety, I raised my staff to the sky, my eyes gleaming with a mix of determination and a hint of uncertainty. The elders and late Miss Pendleton's sister sure were daring but I wouldn't want to appear frightened or intimidated by the presence. I would do all it takes to make sure Nyx is safe from them, even if it means fighting them off with my very last strength. "He will be easy to handle, Go on Sylvia. Get your daughter back to us, Gin can go with you" The older-looking elder in their midst stated. "No, I am going to fight him instead. He made a fool out of me earlier but it's high time I put him in his place" Gin snarled while glaring daggers at me. "I'm fine on my own Odin, I can find my daughter and bring her back without the help of anyone, let alone a weakling" Sylvia eyed Gin before snapping her fingers and disappearing into the air. "Good then, I guess it's worth a show" Odin cackled mischievously set

Nyx's POV With a swift speed, I never expected to possess, I grabbed Aunt Gacia and fell to the floor with her in my arms. Her face became pale in seconds and tears dropped from my eyes. She slowly reached for my face and wiped my tears away, smiling sadly. "That's him, the intruder!" One of the elders growled as he made to attack Narek who fought back with matching strength while the others stood on standby and watched on. "No, please don't die on me Aunt, we need to escape here together" I cried loudly, pulling her to my bosom. Her bleeding wound was already staining my hands but I did not mind. "Nyx, you must go now" she coughed, dark blood spurting out of her mouth. "No, I'm not going anywhere without you" I returned stubbornly, struggling to get her to stand on her feet. "Stop being stupid Nyx and save yourself" She clasped my hand, staring right into my eyes in pure concern. "I'm sorry I couldn't do much to help you but I believe it is not over until it is over. Nyx's POV "Garcia, haven't we waited long enough? Why is it taking so long to change?" The grumpy elder, Aman complained after he had asked Aunt Garcia to change her outfit to no avail. "Thank you Aunt" I whispered to her ear after she had broken the news about Narek coming to my rescue to me. She only squeezed my hand lovingly, a satisfied glint in her eyes, "anytime niece". Sylvia noticed the both of us and cast Garcia a warning glance, Miss Pendleton did not seem bothered by it anyways. "Garcia, a word" Mother requested, slowly moving away from the table where I lay and pulling Aunt Garcia alongside her. "Not again, why do you ladies always find a way to slow us down in everything" "Enough Aman, let the sisters talk" the Elder with the ancient book reprimanded grumpy Aman for always complaining. "What an insatiable being" I muttered under my breath as I glared at him from behind. I was certain this was Aunt Gacia's way of stalling them and I was grateful things were falling

Narek's POV I barged into Miss Pendleton's office, my fist clenched in anger and my face stoic and unsmiling. Her back was turned against me as she stood before the window at the back of her desk. Staring outside the bustling surroundings of the school, she sipped from the green mug she was holding in her hands. "What is this I hear about Nyx? She was abducted right under your nose and there's nothing you are doing to see to her return?" I asked in rage, trying my best to keep myself together and not cause a ruckus. Unlike me, miss Pendleton was at peace and did not seem so worried about anything. "Did they snitch on me already?" She chortled instead and sipped from her mug, "Whom did you hear about this from? Narin Oregon, her roommate or Otis Agni, Nyx's mate?" "That is not what is important at the moment Miss Pendleton" I returned through gritted teeth while tightening my hands which was in a fist. "I understand they are worried about her. Why wouldn't they? Nyx conside
