Chapter 36 Nyx's POV Paying rapt attention to Narek as he taught was a much more herculean task than I imagined. My mind kept diverting from time to time. All I wished at the moment was for his class to end quickly so that I can catch some air because being in the class was a whole lot suffocating. "Now, let's practice the spell. But mind you students, this spell is a strong one and must not be taken for granted. The healing spell as of your level does not work for deep wounds or injuries that affect crucial parts of the body like the heart. But not to panic, we will get to that" Narek stated, staring straight at us. "For the meantime, the healing spell you all would be chanting can be used on bruises, cuts and burns. The danger here is that when chanted incorrectly, the effect could be disastrous. You could enlarge the wound you are trying to heal" Narek warning voice came out low and menacing, I gulped down nothing. He stood straight and clapped his hands, "Now the spel
Nyx's POV I let out a sinister smirk at the thought that crossed my mind. This was my chance, I could get back at my aunt by agreeing to Clyde's request.Besides, she doesn't seem to like my relationship with him and missing my training with Narek would rile her up the more.I wanted to get that reaction from her and so I agreed to meet up with Clyde."Sure, let's do it" I agreed. A satisfied grin appeared on Clyde face."Where are you off to again?" He requested trying to peek at the books in my hand. "The library, want to come too?" I returned his question. His face scrunched and he gagged dramatically, "Nah, I think I will pass. The library is for dorks and I won't be caught dead acting like one" I shot him a dangerous glare, "Are you indirectly calling me a nerd?" I asked in low tune, taking menacing steps towards him.Clyde immediately backed away, raising his hands in the air. A mischievous smirk on his features."Thank you Nyx. I will see you then" he uttered instead and hu
Chapter 38Nyx's POV"What is she to me now, my guardian or some sort of fairy godmother? Why the heck is that lady monitoring me?" I grumbled angrily before I could stop myself.Narin stared at me suspiciously, "Do you have anything with Miss Pendleton? Are you both close?" She asked with narrowed eyes.I blinked repeatedly and let out a nervous chuckle, "Of course not Narin, don't be ridiculous with your thoughts.I will go and see Miss Pendleton tomorrow" I returned and began to hurry inside our room. Can't believe I almost gave myself out with my silly outburst, I could have exposed the secret I was meant to keep. No one should know about my relationship with the principal, well except for Narek who already knew and it is still a mystery to me how he uncovered it.I was sprawled on my bed, my eyes tracing the designs on the ceiling when Narin entered. She placed one of the plastic bags she was holding on my table before moving to her corner.I sat up immediately, the smell of fr
Otis's POV "Do I still need to remind you that you are only but a rejected mate?Rejected! Stop acting all possessive on me and stay off my lane" Nyx yelled in my face and walked out on me.I watched her retreating figure with mixed emotions, anger getting the best of me."How dare she!"I reminisced on Nyx's words carefully and realized that indeed I was being too lenient with her thereby going against my initial plans.I clenched my fist in rage, Nyx should be happy I decided to treat her better than I was when she joined this Academy as a newbie. Even when she was the one that rejected me and I vowed to make her regret her actions, I still made sure she was safe."How dare she remind me of the kind of relationship that existed between us? The way she yelled at me made it look like I was the fool, the clingy one.But not anymore, She prefers suffering than enjoying the free hands I am giving her on a platter of gold.I will grant her wishes, since the payment I get for caring abou
Narek's POV"Remember Narek. We don't have much time. I need Nyx to be able to shift before the next session. Soon, the Uren pack would be in need of an heir to take after the current Alpha, Nyx's father. It is her birthright Narek, and that is why I need her to shift quickly so that she can take her position." I nodded, I wasn't the moon goddess, and the most I could do was try my best. "So tell me, what do you know?" she requested, pulling me close and staring straight into my eyes.I slowly pulled away from her and walked towards my cellar. I could sense her rising curiosity and impatience to know what progress we had made exactly. I brought out two teacups, my thoughts wavering on the best way to approach Miss Pendleton's questions.Nyx's case was a different one together. She is not just a werewolf. Neither is she a witch. But what baffles me is that no matter how hard I try to understand the mystery behind her Mystical being, everything seems to go down the drain. All my res
Otis's POVI walked into the empty class I knew very well that the other pack members must be waiting in. It was sort of our hideout where we hang out when we ditch classes."Hey Otis, just mentioned your name a few seconds ago man" Dylan bellowed when he noticed me enter the class. They were playing cards and therefore surrounded the table in the middle of the room. I walked casually to one of the couches and flopped on it, a mischievous smirk on my face."What's the use of trying so hard to win Greg? you and I know that Benson will be the victorious one at last" I commented, staring at Greg who was focused on the cards in his hands.Benson, the witch chuckled lightly. I was right after all, Benson never misses an opportunity to use his powers in seeing that he wins any game."You got it all wrong right there man, you seem to have forgotten about the tricky elf over there" Dylan laughed."Marc!!" We all called simultaneously, staring unbelievably at the little man as he tried to swi
Nyx's POVThe rest of the day went by just as it came, and soon classes for the day were over.I remembered looking out for any sign of Otis in the cafeteria earlier today, but he didn't come around. I wonder why, though.Don't accuse me yet, I just feel bad for lashing out at him this morning on my way from the annoying meeting with Miss Pendleton. He did not deserve it, though, I was just.. overwhelmed by my emotions. He deserves an apology, or maybe he doesn't. He has been a jerk to me since I stepped foot in Salvador anyways.Come to think of it, Otis has been acting nosy all around me, and I'm starting to think he might be stalking me too. Is it possible that he is now aware of my condition and maybe wants to protect me?No, Maybe I'm just overacting, Otis is just being caring towards me because even though I rejected him as a mate, I'm still an old friend. Though I can't risk letting him know about my secret, it is just right that I remain on good terms with him. "Just like
I froze, my breath caught in my throat as the pair of red eyes gleamed in the darkness. The presence lurking in the shadows sent shivers down my spine, and a sense of impending danger washed over me. I had stumbled upon something I shouldn't have, and now I had to face the consequences."Who's there?" I repeated, my voice more firm this time, trying to hide the fear that threatened to consume me. But the figure remained silent, only the eerie red glow of its eyes piercing through the darkness. My mind raced, considering my options. I could try to run back the way I came, but I didn't even know if that was the right direction anymore. The woods were vast and unfamiliar, and the last thing I wanted was to get even more lost. On the other hand, staying where I was meant facing the unknown entity in front of me.Summoning my courage, I took a step forward, my voice steady but laced with trepidation. "Show yourself! Who are you?"As if in response, a low, guttural growl reverberated throug
Nyx's POV "Noooo" I yelled and fell to my knees. Ms. Toddleboar's warning resounded in my eardrums. "A war is coming and it is your fight. It is going to be a deadly one, you will lose your loved ones but at last, you shall be victorious. But you have to be ready and face all you meet, else you fall into the darkness and your ability taken away from you like it never existed in the first place" This was what she was speaking about, my eyes turned to Narek who was sprawled on the floor, his eyes held so much pain as he gazed into mine. Aman stood above him, panting heavily as blood trickled down his injured face. Clyde's tattoos and runes had finally wiped away from his skin and he fell limply to the floor, drained. Tears gushed out of my eyes as I clasped my hand over my mouth and cried bitterly. Aman moved away from Narek's side and joined Otis who was standing beside Sylvia. "No, no, no this can't be happening" I muttered breathlessly, running towards Narek who was hardly
Nyx's POV "I came back as soon as I sensed you were out of your hiding after searching for you all over the woods. How dare you stress me out like that!" Sylvia scolded me. Her voice was coated in anger which she had bottled up in her chest. I rolled my eyes inwardly. "You ingrate, I have tried everything to explain things to you but you wouldn't adhere. In the long run, you too shall be rewarded greatly only if you and your aunt allowed this exercise to take place. But what did you two do instead? Invite your weak friends to stand up against us and now you are yelling for us to stop tormenting them" "I am no ingrate Sylvia and I wish to remind you that this mission will remain impossible as far as I am still alive and breathing" I retorted and she smiled darkly. "Even if it costs the life of your dear mate and friends?" She asked while raising her hands in the air and at the same time, a dark energy enveloped Otis, Narek, and Clyde, raising them high in the sky as they struggl
Nyx's POV After some time of resting just like Clyde suggested, the antidote worked fervently and Claire bounced back to life in minutes. I was glad she was now safe but at the same time, I needed to make sure my mates, Narek and Otis were okay as well. "No Nyx, it's dangerous. I can't let you go out there alone" Clyde stopped me when I was about living our temporary hideout. "Then come with me. This is my battle Clyde and I won't be able to bear it if they lose their life in my place. Remember what happened in the case of Miss Pendleton, I wouldn't be able to bear losing another loved one to the hands of those evil beings" I returned stubbornly. He rubbed his face in frustration, "Still Nyx, I don't think it is right for you to come out to join the fight. I have been in a fight with Otis and I could tell you that with the ability he possesses, he will do well in taking care of the Sorcerers. Not to talk of Narek who is a master in the arts of magic, defense, and attacks" Clyde
Narek's POV The pain I felt from trying to break free from the barrier of radiant energy I was trapped in was agonizing and I roared loudly in frustration. My mind wandered back to Nyx who had run off long before now and Aman is back already. I wondered if she is safe and neither Aman nor Sylvia were able to get to her. Those sorcerers did not seem like they were going to give me some time to absorb the electrifying effects their cage was pushing into my skin as Gin formed some sort of dark ball and sent it my way. This was me in my vulnerable state, I was bound and unable to easily break free from the cocoon they put their hands together to create. It was a powerful one that was sizzling with electric fury and threatening to burn my skin as soon as I attempt breaking away. The dark ball penetrated into my chest and I howled out in pain, the effect constricting my heart in such a painful manner, I thought he was going to pull it out of my body. Odin did not seem like he was don
Otis's POV The Sorcerer who was standing just before Narek's frail body fell to the floor due to the impact of my wolf's collision with him and the older one instantly rushed to his side to help him up. I made my way to Narek's side, still in my wolf form, and licked his wounds to express my concern. He squinted his eyes at me, trying to make out my identity and when he did, he released a frustrated sigh. "Otis, you still came after all I told you" he grumbled and groaned in pain, "Nyx, have you seen her anywhere?" He managed to ask amidst the growl that was coming from his throat. Narek's bones began to crack and his skin color began to change, I could tell he was on the verge of transformation, and quickly stepped away from him. I had just taken four steps backward when my feet were suddenly swept off the floor but I was quick to regain my composure due to Xavier's inner strength and resilience. My eyes met with that of the older Sorcerer who was glaring at me coldly. He se
Narek's POV Once Nyx began running away from the evil sorcerers for safety, I raised my staff to the sky, my eyes gleaming with a mix of determination and a hint of uncertainty. The elders and late Miss Pendleton's sister sure were daring but I wouldn't want to appear frightened or intimidated by the presence. I would do all it takes to make sure Nyx is safe from them, even if it means fighting them off with my very last strength. "He will be easy to handle, Go on Sylvia. Get your daughter back to us, Gin can go with you" The older-looking elder in their midst stated. "No, I am going to fight him instead. He made a fool out of me earlier but it's high time I put him in his place" Gin snarled while glaring daggers at me. "I'm fine on my own Odin, I can find my daughter and bring her back without the help of anyone, let alone a weakling" Sylvia eyed Gin before snapping her fingers and disappearing into the air. "Good then, I guess it's worth a show" Odin cackled mischievously set
Nyx's POV With a swift speed, I never expected to possess, I grabbed Aunt Gacia and fell to the floor with her in my arms. Her face became pale in seconds and tears dropped from my eyes. She slowly reached for my face and wiped my tears away, smiling sadly. "That's him, the intruder!" One of the elders growled as he made to attack Narek who fought back with matching strength while the others stood on standby and watched on. "No, please don't die on me Aunt, we need to escape here together" I cried loudly, pulling her to my bosom. Her bleeding wound was already staining my hands but I did not mind. "Nyx, you must go now" she coughed, dark blood spurting out of her mouth. "No, I'm not going anywhere without you" I returned stubbornly, struggling to get her to stand on her feet. "Stop being stupid Nyx and save yourself" She clasped my hand, staring right into my eyes in pure concern. "I'm sorry I couldn't do much to help you but I believe it is not over until it is over. You mu
Nyx's POV "Garcia, haven't we waited long enough? Why is it taking so long to change?" The grumpy elder, Aman complained after he had asked Aunt Garcia to change her outfit to no avail. "Thank you Aunt" I whispered to her ear after she had broken the news about Narek coming to my rescue to me. She only squeezed my hand lovingly, a satisfied glint in her eyes, "anytime niece". Sylvia noticed the both of us and cast Garcia a warning glance, Miss Pendleton did not seem bothered by it anyways. "Garcia, a word" Mother requested, slowly moving away from the table where I lay and pulling Aunt Garcia alongside her. "Not again, why do you ladies always find a way to slow us down in everything" "Enough Aman, let the sisters talk" the Elder with the ancient book reprimanded grumpy Aman for always complaining. "What an insatiable being" I muttered under my breath as I glared at him from behind. I was certain this was Aunt Gacia's way of stalling them and I was grateful things were falling
Narek's POV I barged into Miss Pendleton's office, my fist clenched in anger and my face stoic and unsmiling. Her back was turned against me as she stood before the window at the back of her desk. Staring outside the bustling surroundings of the school, she sipped from the green mug she was holding in her hands. "What is this I hear about Nyx? She was abducted right under your nose and there's nothing you are doing to see to her return?" I asked in rage, trying my best to keep myself together and not cause a ruckus. Unlike me, miss Pendleton was at peace and did not seem so worried about anything. "Did they snitch on me already?" She chortled instead and sipped from her mug, "Whom did you hear about this from? Narin Oregon, her roommate or Otis Agni, Nyx's mate?" "That is not what is important at the moment Miss Pendleton" I returned through gritted teeth while tightening my hands which was in a fist. "I understand they are worried about her. Why wouldn't they? Nyx conside
