Chapter-4

AVYANNA ERRYN ROOSEVELT'S POV

"Seriously? Why would you do that? What was that all about?" I asked annoyed, once we were out of the elders' view, placing my hands on my waist as I gave him the look, making Evander look at me with squinted brows. 

Though he was squinting his brows, anyone can see the smirk that is playing at the corner of his lips and the mischief in his eyes.

"What was what?" He asked with a smirk, making me grit my teeth. I am sure he understood what I am talking about and is just making fun of my situation at the moment.

"Now don’t act dumb as if you don’t know anything. You know exactly what I am talking about, alpha brother. You clearly knew I wasn't planning to stay here. I think I have made myself clear to you. Why would you lie to your father and tell him I have decided to live here and about what  kind of bedroom I want when that's the last thing on my mind?" I asked, and he paused, turning to look at me as he started backing me, making me stumble back as I looked at his dark gaze that was observing my face like undoing my covers slowly, and as much as sexy he was, I hated the idea of it. 

‘What the hell is he doing? Is he doing what I think he is doing? Is he going to kiss us?’ My wolf asked, getting her hopes high, making me widen my eyes as I doubted if she was right.

I looked at him observantly as he stopped right in front of me before bending, his face only a few inches away from mine as he looked me directly in the eyes before coming closer, making me hitch my breath as I looked at him in shock. 

He isn’t doing what my wolf thinks he is, right?

"I lied or should I say hid the fact that you were leaving as soon as you came here because I wanted you to be in front of me. Didn’t you hear him? He always wanted a daughter. And I think I can use some company at home, little sister. Besides, we won't want Miss Avyanna Ruth to ruthlessly break the hearts of innocent wolves of my pack, right?" He whispered in my ears, my eyes widening when he took the name I was famous for in Ashton’s pack, his lips touching my earlobe, making a shiver run down my spine as I stood there in utter shock.

Hearing the clicking sound, I stumbled behind myself and would've fallen on my butt if not for Evander holding my waist.

"Easy there, sweetheart. We won't want you falling on your cute round ass and hurting it, no?" Evander said, and I widened my eyes at his inappropriate comment.

He does know that I am his stepsister, and a brother is not supposed to make such comments on his sister, right?

'But you are loving it,' My wolf said, making her presence known again, and I bit my lips, knowing all too well that she was right.

For a moment when his face was so close to mine, I liked it. And I know it is wrong in every way, but I kind of like how he is showing so much care towards me. Like he genuinely wants everything to work between us. However, what is confusing me more is his actions. Or is it that he never had a sister, and he doesn’t know how to behave with one? It doesn't help that he has all the features and qualities that I want from my future mate, not to mention his awfully sexy manliness.

I guess, it will have to be me, who will have to draw boundaries and have him understand how to make me his sister. 

I just hope it’s not too tough of a task.

"What are you thinking about?" He asked me, bringing me out of my thoughts, and I smiled.

"Just thinking how will I be able to manage here. I don't settle in new places easily. Besides, given how my mom is also here, I am sure it is going to be a tough task," I said, and he sighed before nodding his head.

"It looks like you were serious when you said you two don't get along. Don't worry. I will make sure no one bullies you or make things hard for you here, okay? I will protect you from anything and everything. You can rely on me for everything from now on," He said as he looked at me straight in the eyes, his gaze holding a promise that made a shiver run down my spine, and I couldn't help but step closer to him.

"It's you, alpha brother, that I am most worried about. I don't go well with alphas. The first time I had seen Ashton, I had beaten him black and blue. Let's just hope we don't get on bad terms because if we did, I will surely make your life interesting. You never had a sister before, no? Just hope you will be able to play your part nicely," I said, mentally cursing myself for trying to provoke the demon, and I had expected for him to get enraged with the provocation, yell at me or do something that will help me in moving out of the house or accuse him of not being fit to stay with me.

However, what he did next was beyond my expectations and something I had never thought about when I entered the house.

He bent and kissed the area below my earlobe. 

"I will be waiting for you to get on my nerves then, Miss Ruth. And regarding being my sister? I am going to treat you like a girl and a family member to not make things awkward. So don’t worry about me not being able to hold up to my responsibilities," He said, and before I could retort or ask what was that all about, he stood straight with a smirk and left the room, leaving me all confused and angry.

Ho-how could he? H-he! This was so indecent! How can he kiss me just like that? And then act as if nothing happened? I had never had a guy have an upper hand on me like that! How infuriating! I will surely get back at him once I join the school.

What does he think it is for him to act like this with me? 

Sighing loudly, I went inside the room before closing the door with a loud bang, feeling agitated that nothing went along with my plan.

First, I was hoping to not see my mom, and I met her, then I was hoping to not meet my new father, and he is a sweetheart who doesn't want to let me go, then I was planning to stay out of this pack for this one year so that I can leave without any remorse and attachments, but here I am almost beginning to live in the house of the alpha, then I was hoping to not meet my so-called brother because of his reputation, but he is the first guy I met. Not to mention, he lives up to his reputation of being a Playboy.

However, he has a reputation of being a demon too. Why is he acting so softly and politely with me? What did he say? He will protect me? Who wants his protection! The only thing I want is my freedom! And then he kissed my neck?! He dared to kiss my neck!!!

Wait. What if he is just being like that because for him I am a new toy he can play with? Didn't his father say that he is left alone in this big house? He also mentioned something along the lines of he can enjoy some company at home.

Is that the reason why he didn't let me go? He wanted someone to play with, and now that I am here, he got the perfect opportunity to keep me by his side in the name of being my brother and teacher while he can play with me in his free time to kill his boredom. Does his way of playing include torture too?

Shaking my head when an image of me being tied to chains on a wall while he throws daggers at me, came to my head, I gulped as this weird realization dawned upon me.

Maybe this time, I haven't moved to make my life better, but maybe because I am about to be used as a tool for him to play in the near future. I thought, the sound of curtains moving with the wind, catching my attention as I tried to calm my mind, smiling when the wind finally stopped.

I need to stop getting so reactive all the time and lose control of my powers. 

Seeing the luggage in the middle of the room, I sighed before opening the traveler's suitcase to change my outfit. It is evening only, but I think it is better if I just sleep it off right now. Maybe my brain will work in a better way and will be able to think of plans to get out of this Goddamn place, right?
