CHAPTER TWO

Tala Pov.

I ate and slept. Evening came and I was bored so I decided to step out and see my surroundings. I was greeted with strange and angry faces but I knew they couldn't do anything to the Alpha’s mate.

I noticed people were gathered around a place and I made my way through their midst to have a look at what's happening .

People started paving a way for me as I approached the entrance and I was greeted by the Alpha lying down looking unconscious.

“ What happened?”. I asked no one in particular.

“ His wounds ain't healing, it's very unusual”. The witch answered.

I looked at the figure lying down and wished I could end his life, but he's my mate, my fated mate.

I stooped low and felt his pulse, it was weak and he's dying. I can't let my mate die, I was moved with sympathy and I laid my hands on him.

In a moment, his body glowed as a sign of life entered his veins, the witch and the people were surprised.

“ Does she have healing abilities?”. The two female wolves who attended to me whispered out loud.

The witch held my hands and dragged me along with her into the shrine..

“Come with me”. She yelled out loud!

The witch dragged me to the shrine while the people followed closely behind. I kept mute and watched as she performed some rites and recited some incantations…..

“ Stretch forth your hands”. Her old quacky voice commanded.

“ I can see you, yes I can see you, Spirit of the High Crest—”. She repeated continuously, as she moved around me.

“ What are you doing?”. I asked, trying not to sound afraid .

“Quiet”. She replied, and continued circling me .

The crowd paved a way and the Alpha came into view, his body was fully healed and he looked like he wasn't wounded before, his body scars disappeared and he looked more stronger than I've seen.

“ Tala”. He called me , I wanted to move away from the witch but he signaled me to stay .

The witch finally stopped moving and the shrine was filled with a deep silence. She placed the bowl on her hand to the ground and turned around. Everyone was startled except the Alpha, he stood his ground and looked unbothered.

“ Come forward Tala”. She stretched her hands to receive mine. I didn’t even tell her my name. How did she know?

“ Like you I can read minds too, don’t be worried my dear , you’re in safe hands”. She smiled and took me forward towards the Alpha.

“ People of High Crest , today we have been blessed, the moon goddess has finally sent us help…….” . She continued addressing the people but the Alpha eyes were fixed on me.

“ Why are you staring at me?”. My wolf said, addressing him.

“ I would have been dead if you didn’t heal me”. His wolf replied.

Damn , he could hear me? my eyes met his eyes and he smiled with a corner of his mouth.

“ You’re my mate and I can hear you”. He replied.

“ For someone of your hierarchy , I don’t expect you to possess such supernatural abilities”.

“ I didn’t ask for it , the moon goddess blessed me with it”. I replied to his wolf.

Our little conversation was cut short when the witch dragged me forward and we both mounted the raised platform in the shrine.

“ Today the moon goddess has answered our prayers, right here we have the spirit of our ancestors with us”. She raised my hands up and the whole shrine was filled with howls . The people were happy and celebrating.

My eyes moved to where the Alpha stood, his face portrayed how excited he was and he smiled frantically showing his nice dentition.

“What’s going on?”. My wolf asked him .

“ Well you’re the reincarnated spirit of our ancestor and you’re here to bless us”. His wolf replied , now I feel much more comfortable hearing his wolf , his voice sounded different from every other person in the room.

“ But I have no roots here and I’m not from this pack”. I replied to his wolf, my countenance changing.

“The witch knows what she saw and she has never been wrong, you’re here to bless us”. He reassured me.

“ If you’re so confident about it, why don’t you tell me your name?”.

Our eyes were locked for a moment and he smiled again, in the midst of the celebration.

“ I’m sure you know my name already, but there’s no harm in telling”.

“ I’m Logan Alpha of the High Crest pack”. His wolf growled and his eyes turned red like I’d seen when he came to my village.

He was right , I already knew his name when I laid my hands on him , I looked into his past and I saw when he was born and named.

“ I looked into your past when I laid hands on you,the pains you went through while growing up with no motherly care. Hence you turned out to be mean and brutal”. I told him.

“ You have no idea what I passed through, Tala”. His wolf growled .

“ I do, and I understand all your pains”. His heartbeat sounded so loud and fast , I could see his eyes glowing red but after a while it came back to normal . Finally he has his temper under control.

Logan approached me on the platform where I stood , slowly he placed his hand on mine and kissed it.

He howled and everywhere became silent. After assuring that he had everyone's attention, he held my hand and we both approached the crowd.

“ People of High Crest, I present my Luna to you”. He raised both our hands and the people howled and shouted. The witch approached me and marked my body with blood.

“ Welcome to our midst Tala”. She said repeatedly, showing her old dirty teeth.

It was time for the ceremonial dance, I had refused to join Logan because I didn’t know how to dance.

“ I can’t dance Logan, I don’t even know your ancestors' dance steps”. I whispered to his ears. Everyone was waiting for me to join him as we performed the ceremonial dance together . I felt all the pack eyes were on me and it made me uncomfortable.

“ It's our tradition that the Luna should dance with the Alpha whenever they find each other”. He replied to me with his wolf.

I reluctantly held his hand and we did the dance together, everyone was happy and took turns to come and congratulate us.

I noticed a female Wolf standing on the other end of the room, her green eyes fixed on me, glowing in the dark. I could feel dark energy surrounding me the moment I fixed my eyes on her. I quickly shifted my eyes, looking troubled.

“ Are you okay?” Logan asked me, while sipping his wine .

“ Yes I’m fine”. I smiled sheepishly.

“ You look disturbed”. He replied, looking concerned.

“ I’m really fine Logan , I’m just not used to the people yet”. I replied, faking a smile.

But I was troubled with the lady I saw earlier. I decided not to focus on that and enjoy the moment, being the Luna comes with some level of security and respect , I thought to myself.

After the celebration, I left the shrine and was retiring to my room and I felt someone walking behind me , I turned back briskly and saw nothing, I turned and started walking faster, again I felt someone walking behind me

I turned and saw nothing. I wasn’t imagining things, I'm sure of that. I turned to walk into my chambers and I came face to face with the lady I had seen earlier .

“ Hello Tala”, she smiled, showing me her prolonged teeth.

“ Hi”, I replied and felt the dark energy surging through her body.

“I’m Lyra”. She held out her hand and I took it , she shook my hand so strongly that I felt pain.

“ I guess you know my name so I don’t have to tell you again”. I replied , my voice shaking due to the pain I was feeling.

“ I have to go now , I need to rest”. I replied quickly trying to release my hand from her grip.

“ I didn’t congratulate you earlier as our new Luna, so that’s why I’m here”. A wicked smile formed on her lips.

“ Thank you," I replied. Finally releasing my hand and I turned to walk away.

Something isn’t right about her , her dark energy is so strong and it's getting me worried
