5: How long did you wait?

   Really!!?

Can anyone be for real on this planet.

I thought it was always easy to apply for crappy jobs and not have people look too down on you. I know education is the key but I don't need to be educated to know how to change diapers, put kids to sleep or keep them company.

For crap sake, I even applied for a nanny and the wife said I was too 'uneducated' for her 3 years old twins.

   Damn it.

It's been three weeks and I don't know any much longer I might take. Well, I had little savings, the new apartment I stay in isn't expensive and I save the little I have. In days, I might run dry but I need a job.

Looking around, I bit my lower lip not to yell. I knew I looked too young to work as a nanny, especially when the wives kept looking at me like I would steal her husbands or something. Frankly, I have no interest in men.

I will be my own woman! Independent and bold. Just a motivational thought though.

This interview might be something and I was sure not to dress in anything expensive. The company looked massive and nice. I obviously don't have enough qualifications but that doesn't mean I won't be able to secure something for a cleaner or a tea maker.

     I love tea. Who doesn't?

     "Tea?"

I raised my head as I heard the low voice. A young beautiful woman walked past me with an empty tray. The waiting room I was waiting in doesn't look like one to have the secretary sip tea while she kinda glares at me.

I didn't do anything. She had asked me to wait for over two hours and I did wait patiently. I told her I wish to work as a tea maker or something fit for me, that doesn't seem desperate, does it?

Awkwardly, I adjusted and avoided her gaze for a few seconds but when I turned back, she was staring. It has gone blank, which seems a bit better but yet uncomfortable.

Slowly after much contemplation, I stood up and walked to her.

"I did ask you to sit and wait till it's your time, didn't I? " She snapped.

   Such rudeness!

If I was still married to Tyler this wouldn't have happened. Some of me want to regret why I left him but freedom matters.

"See... " I paused as I looked at her name tag and back at her face "Nancy, you have such a nice name"

"I am not a lesbian" Nancy scolded.

    I frowned.

  Who said anything about lesbians?

Gosh! I want to hit this lady. Well, I couldn't.

"I only wanted to know where the toilet is" I said forcefully calm.

She sighed, looked around then back at me. Her gaze looked me from head to toe which made me aware of the choice of outfit I picked.

The black dress didn't look that bad, not at all. It was a simple plain dress that looked like corporate wear. Fitted with short sleeves, the beige black dress has a little cut right about my right knee where I could walk with the dress.

My long hair was styled back and pinned in a simple way that my curls weren't too visibly. I had very light make up, mainly to cover my dark circles and I was certain I smelled nice because of my perfume.

"We already have a cleaning person but you are free to join" Nancy points.

As she gestureed in the direction, I forced myself not to entangle my fingers in her hair and slam her face on the table.

The table looked like it was made of part wood and iron. White and brown with the brown office chair moving as she stared at me. The computer sat idol near a pile of arranged files and an open mug of latte coffee.

While she swung left and right, she locked her gaze with me and I swear at the moment, all broke lose.

Everything about her irked me. Her official and yet slutty dress. For Pete's sake, more than half of her cleavage was showing. Her honey brown Bob cut hair made her face pop and I won't lie, she wasn't ugly. Okay, she was beautiful.

"Do you know me? " I asked as I leaned closer " I don't get why you are being so rude and.... "

"It's indeed a surprise you don't know people you and your husband embarrassed years back and yet... " She paused for a few seconds.

She looked angry and was trying not to burst out. While me on the other hand, I was desperately trying to remember her.

She knows I am... Was married.

I know I was so many things married to Tyler but I never was a bully or embarrassed anyone. I was mindful and I rarely even talked for myself.

"Posh Suite, maybe a year ago" Nancy said as she shook her head.

She seem somewhat sure but nothing rings a bell.

"You both didn't even leave a good tip and I lost my job that day" She rolled her eyes.

    The heck!

  Because of a bad tip?

I moved my head slightly to the side and sighed loudly. Even after I ended things with Tyler, peice of his life still affected me. So perfect.

"Look, Nancy" I started calmly "I am sure that you might have the wrong person here and I am sorry for what happened"

      She just stared.

She looked like she was enjoying me shaking in rage and self control while also embarrassing my pathetic self.

"I need this job and... "

I paused when I noticed her gaze shift.

Quickly, she stood up totally ignoring me and walked out her position.

Although I was furious but I was so tired to reach so I just rolled my eyes and followed her gaze, I wished I didn't do that.

I wish I had walked out immediately she asked me to to wait three hours ago.

        "Hayley? " He said.

I gulped and avoided his look.

Liam looked good, as good as the day I saw him last.

He tailored Armani blazer fit him we'll, making his 6 feet body frame taller.

His mid length curly black hair was held in a low pony tail and his brown eyes pierced my soul- waiting for a response.

"Sir" Nancy said as she rushed to his side and with a jotterpad and a pen "Your meeting is still scheduled for 3 pm" She checked her wristwatch "40 minutes from now and... "

"Hayley" Liam interrupted her as he stood still in front of me.

I felt hot, hot in lots of places and I really need to leave this building.

I looked at Nancy who avoided my gaze and back at Liam who looked slightly pissed like he needed an urgent answer.

"What are you doing here? " He sounded a bit angry.

I stared at his shoes instead while I thought of what to say.

"She said she wanted to apply for a Custodian or a tea server but I politely told her we already have she should leave but she refused" Nancy said.

Speechless, I stared at her with wide eyes.

She was nothing near polite but that doesn't mean anything now, does it?

"How long did you wait? " Liam asked.

I looked at Nancy as if expecting her to reply and she did.

    "Maybe thirty minutes si... "

"Thirty minutes my ass! " I interrupted angrily "I don't mean to interrupt but she was nothing near polite and waited for almost three hours"

Liam made a low grumpy sound.

He looked at his watch, looked at me and Nancy and with a calm look on his face he said.

"Set her up with my schedule and table" He said to Nancy "and when you are done, use the main exit peacefully"

Liam looked at me, his gaze somehow soft as he moved his arms behind him "Can you start today?" He asked.

    I nodded.

I wasn't sure of what just happened and even when I need this job, I can't be the reason Nancy is losing her job again.

"Congratulations, you are my Secretary" He gave a half smile.

That was sadly sweet but I smiled back as he walked away.

The next morning, I watched Tyler as he prepared for work. He didn't say a single word about what had happened the day before, and it felt like a knife twisting in my heart. Hate is a strong word, but God knows I hate this man, my husband. I hate him that I can't believe I loved him just yesterday. No! This is not right. He should have a reason before I hate him, right? That is what any normal woman would do. That is what a loving and good woman would do and be loyal. With his head high, Tyler walked out of the bathroom in his towel and began to get dressed. I was awake; it was obvious, but he paid no attention to me. He just got dress, fixed his hair and gave me one last look. I wanted him to say something. To tell me what really happened yesterday, but he acted like it was nothing. "I am off to work, Hayley," Tyler let out in a whisper as he walked to the door. I said nothing. Maybe my silence worked as he turned back to look at me for a few seconds a

By the time I woke up, it was afternoon. Maybe, I wasn't sure. The atmosphere was warm, probably from the open windows or the breakfast in bed. Tyler was wearing causal White tee shirt and matching short. His short blonde hair scattered on his forehead and eyelids, and he kept pushing them back. I could visibly see his fingers pattern as he had done that a lot before I woke up. "You are up?" He said questionably, "You know I want to make your birthday up for you". His tone, it was like he didn't want me to wake or he actually said that sarcastically. Well, I didn't care much. I just needed to know what he would do or say instead of glaring at me with such a distasteful look. Flash back of yesterday flooded, and I couldn't help but smirked involuntarily. I shouldn't have done that as I immediately heard the sound of glass shattered and the bed-breakfast went across the room. I flinched, looked around, trying to get the shattered glass and wonder why he had done it.
