Chapter 68 - Kurt

I wake up slowly, the cold air of the room and the antiseptic smell permeating my senses. I’m laying on my side and stiffness seems to make my body ache. I shift and expect pain, but there’s nothing but the ache of being in the same position for too long.

I try to roll on my back, but there are pillows holding me in this position.

It’s when I huff out a breath in an attempt to sit up that the movement alerts someone in the room with me.

“Kurt?”

That voice. That beautiful, melodic voice. It’s her.

“Fati?” I ask, craning my neck in an attempt to find her. When my eyes finally rest on hers, something within me eases. “When did you get here? How did you know to come?”

She’s up and at my side, her hand caressing my cheeks as her eyes search my face. I’m not sure what she is looking for, but something in my appearance causes her tense shoulders to relax. She lets out a huge sigh and leans down to kiss my forehea
