Emily’s POV
Before I could even consider walking away, the sound of hurried footsteps filled the corridor. My stepmother, Linda, and my father, Mr. Parker, rushed to the scene, their faces twisted with concern.
Jessica looked up at them, her eyes brimming with crocodile tears. "Father, Emily hit me!" she cried, her voice trembling. "She just kept slapping me, over and over again!"
Linda immediately rushed to Jessica's side, fussing over her swollen cheek. "Oh, my darling daughter!" she cooed, tossing a venomous glare in my direction. "How dare you attack her the moment you set foot in this house?"
I stood my ground, my arms folded across my chest. "I won't deny it," I said boldly. "I slapped Jessica, and I won't hesitate to do it again."
I fixed Linda with a pointed stare. "After all, she did seduce my fiancé. And your inability to discipline your own daughter properly has turned her into a homewrecker, just like you."
Mr. Parker's face contorted with fury, and before I could even brace myself, his hand shot out, striking me across the face with a resounding crack.
The blow landed, and I received it like a champion. It was the first time my father had ever laid a hand on me, and the shock of it left me reeling.
Linda feigned concern, grasping my father's arm. "Darling, don't hurt our daughter!" she cried, though her eyes gleamed with triumph.
Mr. Parker's expression hardened as he glared at me. "I don't remember raising such a disrespectful child," he spat. "What have you been learning in that Duskfall pack, hmm? Clearly, you have no manners left."
I looked up at Linda, my anger burning bright. "And you," I retorted, "Have been a terrible mother, allowing Jessica to behave so shamelessly. You are a poor excuse for a mother, and you have encouraged this inappropriate behavior."
As I stood there, facing the fury of the Parker family, a sudden clarity crashed over me. I could see through Linda's false displays of concern and care - they were nothing more than a façade.
The memories came rushing back, unbidden. That day, when Linda had spiked my orange juice, drugging me until I felt hot and disoriented. How she had crept into my room in the dead of night, like an evil witch, and drawn blood from me using a syringe, all in a twisted attempt to conduct a paternity test.
I shuddered, the shadow sensations of her hands on me and the sting of the needle still lingering. And now, here she was, trying to portray herself as the caring, understanding stepmother.
But I knew the truth. Linda had never considered me her daughter, not truly. She had always seen me as a threat, an intruder in the Parker household.
As Linda's voice cut through the mess, her words dripping with false sweetness, I felt a wave of disgust. "My daughter didn't seduce your fiancé," she cooed. "Robert came to her because he couldn't resist the pull of his true mate, a wolfless omega like you wouldn't understand how powerful a mate's bond..."
I didn't even give her a chance to continue. Reaching into the black bag I had brought with me, I pulled out the envelope, its contents damning.
"I have proof of her sinful acts," I declared, my voice steady despite the unrest within. Slowly, I opened the envelope, revealing the incriminating photos of Jessica and Robert in a series of compromising sex positions.
The gasps that escaped Linda and Jessica's lips were music to my ears. Jessica's eyes widened in horror, her mouth opening and closing uselessly as she scrambled for a response.
"H-How did you get these?" She demanded, her voice shrill with panic.
I merely raised a brow, refusing to give her the satisfaction of an answer. Instead, I turned my gaze to my father, whose expression remained impassive, even in the face of such damning evidence.
"Well, Father?" I challenged, daring him to deny the truth before his very eyes. Without a word, I flung the damning photographs onto the floor, the images scattering at his feet.
"What do you have to say about your darling daughter's affair with my former fiancé?" I demanded, my voice all sharp edges. "I may be disrespectful, but is this the kind of promiscuous behavior you find acceptable in this family?"
Linda immediately sprang into action, bending down to hastily scoop up the incriminating photos. "These disgusting photos were taken without my daughter's knowledge!" she cried. "It's illegal to invade someone's privacy like this!"
But Mr. Parker remained unfazed, his gaze fixed solely on me. To my utter dismay, he blatantly disregarded the evidence, directing all of his anger and disapproval towards me instead.
"You are no longer welcome in this house," he spat, his words like a dagger to my heart. "Go back to the Duskfall pack and stop causing problems for this family."
I felt betrayed and disgusted by his blatant favouritism towards Jessica. How I had longed for my father's support and his acknowledgment, but it was too much to ask.
"Robert is an unfaithful son of a bitch," I hissed, my vision blurring with tears of rage. "He is like a disloyal dog, drawn to whichever sweetness is on offer! He will still cheat on her, once a cheater, always a cheater!"
Without another word, I turned on my heel and began to storm out of the mansion, my lungs burning with the effort to keep my composure.
But as I reached the door, Mr. Parker's voice rang out, soakedwith hatred. "You are no longer my daughter. I don't want to see your face here ever again."
I paused, my hand gripping the doorframe as I looked back at him—this man who was supposed to be my father. The utter rejection in his eyes was like a physical blow, and I had to swallow back the lump in my throat.
As I turned to leave, I caught a glimpse of Jessica, a malicious smile playing on her lips as she waved at me, whispering a mocking "Bye-bye, sister."
Alpha Michael’s POVI let out a huff of exasperation as I stepped out of the car, the leash of our massive wolfhound, Conan, clutched firmly in my hand. The guards in the courtyard immediately straightened, saluting us as James emerged from the vehicle. It had been years since he'd set foot in this place – the grand Blackwood mansion, the heart of our family's pack. And now, James was back to take his rightful place as Alpha, and also because our grandfather had been diagnosed with cancer.Conan let out a booming bark, straining against the leash and dragging me towards the mansion's entrance. I struggled to maintain my grip, glancing back at James, but his expression remained impassive as ever."Brother, help me!" I exclaimed, my face screwed up in exasperation. "Conan only listens to you, you know."But James merely shrugged, and I watched as the guards rushed to my aid, forcing the noisy wolfhound from my grasp, but it was useless. Conan pulled me into the house, making a beeline f
Emily’s POVThe bar was alive with pulsing energy, the air filled with the scent of alcohol and the thrumming beat of the music. Yet amidst the lively crowd, I sat alone, my face flushed and my vision clouded by the sharp volume of beer bottles scattered across the tabletop.I was drinking to drown out the pain and the sting of rejection that still lingered in my heart after my confrontation with the Parker family. My father's cruel words, the way he had disowned me and cast me out of his home—it was all too much to bear.As I reached for another bottle, a pair of expensive boots caught my eye. Slowly, I lifted my gaze, only to find the striking figure of Alpha Michael approaching me. He looked different from the man I had encountered that morning—more polished, more handsome, with a small wolf tattoo peeking out from the collar of his shirt.I glared at him, my expression one of cold indifference. I had no desire to entertain anyone, let alone the brother of the man I had accidentall
Emily’s POVAs Alpha James approached the desk, the officer quickly bowed his head in respect. "Welcome, Alpha James," he said, his voice masked with respect. The officer then turned his gaze to Michael and his friends, his expression hardening. "Step aside," he commanded, gesturing for one of them to vacate the seat. "The Alpha wishes to speak."But James raised a hand, his features blank. "I don't mind standing," he said, his deep voice cutting through the tension. "Now, let's get straight to the point."The officer cleared his throat, glancing nervously between the brothers. "Well, Alpha, the situation is this: there was a violent altercation at the bar, and Miss Emily here—" he gestured towards me "—was allegedly swinging a bottle at Michael after he grabbed her wrist and demanded an apology."I kept my expression composed, refusing to show any outward signs of the fear I felt in James' presence. Michael's friends were quick to cut in, their voices rising in a chorus of accusation
Emily’s POVThe sound of muffled smooching stirred me from my slumber, and I sat up with a groan, the blanket falling from my chest. There, on a small chair in the corner, were Sarah and her boyfriend, Jake, locked in a passionate embrace. Their lips were fused together in a deep, eager kiss, moving in sync with a tangible hunger. Sarah's fingers were tangled in Jake's hair, pulling him closer as his hands roamed the curves of her body, caressing her sides with a gentle desire. Soft sighs and the occasional quiet moan punctuated the air, betraying the intensity of their passion."Get a room!" I exclaimed, grabbing a throw pillow and tossing it at the oblivious couple. "You couldn't have waited until I was gone?"Sarah pulled away, her hair disheveled and a smitten smile plastered on her face. "Sorry, Emmy," she giggled. "I just couldn't resist." She disentangled herself from Jake, who looked equally pleased with himself."Someone kept calling your phone all night," Sarah continued, s
Alpha James’s POVThe heavy rain pounded against the window of my office, the downpour threatening to breach the glass barrier. With a grunt, I strained to close the window, the cold droplets sprinkling my face as I wiped the moisture from my hair.Just as I was about to turn away, the sound of footsteps echoed behind me. Whirling around, I found my mother, Mrs. Blackwood, standing in the dimly lit room, her floral dress clinging to her drenched frame, tears streaking down her face."Mom, what's wrong?" I asked, my brow furrowing with worry as I moved to wrap my arm around her.She sniffled, her gaze meeting mine. "Son, it's your grandfather," she breathed. "H- he is missing. The rumor is that he has run away from the hospital, and the pack warriors are searching for him now."Rage flared within me, and I clenched my jaw. "Who was in charge of looking after him?" I demanded."There were actually two warriors; one is in the living room, while the other still out in the rain looking for
Alpha James’s POVExhausted from the day's events, I collapsed onto my bed, closing my eyes in a desperate attempt to find some rest. The constant calls to secure my grandfather's accounts and arrange for a round-the-clock caretaker had left me drained, both physically and mentally.Just as I was about to drift off, a sharp knock at the door jolted me from my reverie. I let out a low growl, thoroughly annoyed at the interruption. "Come in," I grumbled.Without hesitation, my brother strode through the door, his expression unusually serious. I shook my head, regarding him with a wary gaze. "What do you want, Michael?"He sat down on the edge of the bed, his voice taking on an almost pleading tone. "Brother, I need you to grant me a wish."I furrowed my brow, perplexed by his request. "A wish? What are you talking about?"Michael inched closer, his eyes locked onto mine. "It's my birthday gift, since you missed it. I need you to grant it, without question."I let out a heavy sigh, my re
Emily’s POVI groaned as my back collided with the hard floor, Michael's forceful toss leaving me winded. Glaring up at him, I slowly sat up, wincing at the dull ache in my spine."What was that for?" I demanded, but Michael merely grinned down at me, his expression dripping with hatred. He extended a hand, as if to help me up, and I grabbed it, attempting to regain my footing. But just as I felt his grip begin to loosen, I yanked him down, sending him crashing to the floor beside me with a satisfying thud.Bursting into laughter, I got to my feet, hurrying to retrieve my luggage. "I didn't sign up to be tortured by you," I declared, fixing him with a pointed stare. "I came because I had no other choice, but since you are taking this as an opportunity to torment me, I will be leaving, you can hire someone else for the job."As I turned to leave, I caught a glimpse of Alpha James—was that a faint smile playing on his lips? The sight of it only encouraged my determination, and I clutche
Emily’s POVAlpha James remained silent, his piercing gaze fixed on me. Before I could react, he moved closer, his striking body hovering over me until the backs of my knees hit the edge of the bed, causing me to tumble backwards onto the soft mattress.I stared up at him, my heart pounding rapidly in my chest as my eyes landed on the toned abs visible through the thin fabric of his robe. He leaned in, his previously warm expression hardening into a cold mask."Since you are already in my room," he murmured, his voice low. "I might as well tell you, my rules."I swallowed hard, unable to tear my gaze away as he moved closer, as if to kiss me. Instinctively, I closed my eyes, feeling utterly powerless under his influence.Suddenly, he let out a low chuckle, the unexpected sound causing me to snap my eyes open in surprise. "What were you thinking about, Braveheart?" he asked, amusement dancing in his eyes. "I didn't know you could be so naughty; did you think I was going to kiss you?"I
Emily’s POVThree months had passed since that fateful night, and as I sat before the decorative dressing mirror, my heart raced with a combination of excitement and anxiety. Sarah and Mrs. Blackwood hovered around me, meticulously arranging my veil and fussing over the details of my gown."You are stressing me out, you two!" I huffed, rolling my eyes. "The maids could have finished this just fine, but no, you had to step in."Sarah hissed, gently smoothing the delicate lace. "Nonsense! I promised I would help with your wedding prep, and I'm not backing down now." Her warm smile was a far cry from the cold indifference she had once shown me. "After all, I have been your mother since middle school, Emmy."I had to fight back the tears that threatened to spill, staining my carefully applied makeup. I had promised myself I wouldn't cry today, this was my moment to beam with joy as I walked down the aisle to my beloved James.A soft knock at the door announced a new arrival, and I looked
Emily’s POV"Now it's your turn to have fun," James said as he guided me to the bed and made me lay down on the bed on my back.My mate came on top of me and started kissing, pushing his tongue as far as it would go into my mouth while rubbing his hand all over my tits with his hand. With him on top of me, my breasts and nipples rubbed against his hard chest as their hands worked up and down my naked body. James moved his head down my body, licking at my breasts, sucking my nipples, and nibbling at my stomach and torso as he lowered down between my legs. He pulled me to the edge of the bed as he got on his knees with his face between my legs, then held the waistband of my panties and pulled them down from my waist.I arched my back off the bed so he could slide my panties off my waist and out of my legs. He took a hold of my leg and placed it on his shoulder, with my flower exposed to his view. I blushed sheepishly, knowing he could see my wet pussy.I gasped, and my whole body tense
Emily’s POVFour days had passed since I had come running back to the Demontail Packhouse, my heart's only desire to reunite with my beloved James. And now, I found myself pacing anxiously outside the private clinic room, my fingers wringing together as I expected news of Winston's condition. The surgery had been underway for hours, and my legs ached from the endless watch. Sinking to my knees, I stared at the wooden door, silently willing it to open to bring me news of my son's wellbeing. The soft fall of footsteps had me glancing up, and I felt my breath catch in my throat as James approached, his warm gaze finding mine. Wordlessly, he dropped down beside me, wrapping a comforting arm around my shoulders and pressing a tender kiss to my cheek."How is the surgery going?" he murmured, his voice filled with concern.I shook my head helplessly. "I don't know yet, but I can't think straight."Giving my hand a reassuring squeeze, James met my gaze steadily. "Our son is going to be alrigh
Emily’s POVI couldn't control the steady stream of tears that fell down my cheeks as Robert encircled me in a comforting hug. I stood before my grandfather's freshly dug grave, the cold October wind whipping through the funeral hall as mourners gathered behind me.So many unfamiliar faces had come to pay their respects, yet my focus remained fixed only on the ornate casket that held my beloved grandfather's earthly remains. I remembered the last time he had hired bodyguards to protect me from Robert and couldn't help but wonder what had become of them.My grandfather had been the father I had never truly known, the one who had scolded my own father for cruelly chasing me out, who had showered me with affection and sympathy. It was that very favoritism that had driven the block between us, my father's hatred decaying like a poison.Robert's hand gently guided me as I placed the bouquet of lily-of-the-valley, my grandfather's favorite flowers, on top the casket. I tried to pull away, d
Alpha James’s POVI refused to accept Emily's rejection, I couldn’t. Rising to my feet, I chased after her, reaching out to grasp her hand. But she yanked it free, turning to face me. Her gaze was thoughtfully averted, her shoulders tense."Is it true?" I demanded, and my heart slammed against my ribcage with alarming force. "Tell me you were just joking, that you don't mean it."Emily's lips thinned into a tight line. "Denial won't solve anything. I'm sorry for leading you on before when you were just regaining your senses. The doctor said you needed love and guidance, but I'm done with you and Michael. I want nothing more to do with either of you." Her doctor said you needed love and guidance, but I'm done with you and Michael. voice remained surprisingly calm despite the heartbreak. "Thank you for coming back for me, but I didn’t really need your help."Hot tears glistened in her eyes as she spoke, her voice spiked with a finality that pierced me to the core. "It's better if you r
Alpha James's POVThe minutes went by like an eternity as the noxious gas finally began to clear from the packhouse. Michael and I were left crawling on the hard floor, our bodies smashed with weakness.Suddenly, the sound of approaching footsteps reached my ears. Summoning the last of my strength, I lifted my gaze to see Marcus striding towards us, his face covered by a protective mask."You could have prevented all this," he remarked, squatting down in front of me. "If only you had come to me earlier and made a deal."He leaned in closer, his foul breath fanning across my face. "But now that the gas is out there, wiping out the rest of your pack...you are going to tell me where all the money is."I struggled to push myself up, glaring defiantly at him. "I will tell you nothing, prick. My pack is ruined, damaged beyond repair. I have nothing left to return to." I spat the words with frustration. "I hate you more than life itself. I will take pleasure in killing you and tasting your b
Author’s POVThe first crow's call pierced the pre-dawn air, awakening the Demontail Pack members from their sleep. In the campsite, warriors sharpened their weapons, readying themselves for the coming war.Sarah, Mrs. Blackwood, and Geneva worked in the kitchen, distributing the precious cure to the waiting pack members. The bitter liquid elicited comical expressions as it was consumed, but the urgency of their job allowed no room for fun."The alpha and the warriors at the lake need some cure too!" A warrior shouted, his voice loud enough for everyone to hear.Geneva gathered some glasses onto a tray in her hand and shouted back. "I’m on it!"She rushed outside the border of the campsite towards the lake, where Alpha James and the other warriors were bathing naked. The sun was beaming and directing down rays on the water, making it shine and sparkle as she approached. The other warriors were splashing around, having a good time, as they laughed and joked. She couldn't help but sta
Author's POVThe lush greenery of the park surrounded Emily and Jessica as they sat side by side on the bench, their children playing melodiously on the grassy floor. Jessica's voice was abnormally soft as she addressed the youngsters."You are all family now, so no fighting or bullying, alright?"The twins and Winston looked up in surprise but quickly resumed their game, sharing toys and laughter. Emily felt tears well in her eyes as she watched the kids play, Jessica's words stirring up emotions she had long suppressed.Sensing her distress, Jessica turned to her, her expression somber. "Um, I know the past five years have been hard on you," she murmured. "The bullying, the loneliness—even my own mother didn't shed a tear for me when I was brutally raped by those rogue wolves. She made it look like it was my fault, I got kidnapped and she told me to get rid of the twins."Emily opened her mouth to respond, but Jessica raised a hand, silencing her. Slowly, she slid off the bench, kne
Author’s POVThe once-lively park now sat in a sad, strange silence, different from the carefree days of the past. Emily gazed around the unhappy surroundings, her eyes resting on her son, who sat beside her on the bench, completely engrossed in playing with the Spiderman figurines Robert had given him.A bittersweet smile tugged at her lips as she watched him, so oblivious to the darkness that had fallen upon their pack. Reaching into her pocket, she withdrew the phone and wanted poster she'd borrowed from the daycare. Emily’s own face stared back at her, a stupid reminder that she was now a wanted criminal in her pack.Fingers trembling slightly, she dialed the Packhouse landline number printed at the bottom, her heart pounding against her ribs like a hammer as the line rang. On the second ring, a familiar voice answered."Carol, it's me, Emily!" She shouted urgently. "I need you to give the phone to your husband; I have some information for him!"But Carol's response was strong. "N
