What is Mr Cullen doing here?
What could he possibly want from me?.....He'd told me 2 years back to not even breathe his way and that's what I'm doing, staying far from him.
Well I also said no for my own peace of my mind.
" Miss Grey, may I come in?" He says.
He literally invites himself before I even utter a word, basically pushing me aside.
Rude much......Well I shouldn't be surprised, that's more up his alley.
I don't dare close the door, for safety purposes.
I watch him look around my place and his eyes lingering on the coffee table, which looks so unhealthy right now with all the goodies. But who cares, it's my food and my place.
" I've been informed that you said no to coming for the interview tomorrow morning." He says, turning around to face me.
" Yes I did."
I feel his eyes look me over, making me shift uncomfortably on my heel. I cross my arms, feeling like shielding myself from his eyes.
" Why?"
" Why what?"
" Why did you say no?"
Did he seriously come all this way to ask me this?
" I have my reasons." I say, not meeting his eyes.
" Which are?" My head snaps up to him.
" Which are for my own concern sir." I say, now frowning.
" Miss Grey, you do realize the position you are in right?....You're currently unemployed, looking for a job yet when an interview is presented before you, personally from the top office, you simply say no. Does that even make sense to you?" He arches his brow.
The picture he's just painted makes sense, because I look like a crazy idiot for turning down an interview twice, when I'm desperately looking for a job. But I'm saving myself here, this is for protection purposes.
I'll find another job somewhere even if it takes me quite some time, but I will.
" Mr Cullen, I understand the position that I'm currently in right now. You've painted it so nice and dandy, but nothing about this position has changed my mind and decision. So please accept this fact." I say in one go, taking a huge breath after.
I gulp when his eyes narrow and he starts walking towards me. No matter what, this man is still intimidating.
I take a step back each time, trying to create space between us. When my back touches the wall, I know that I am done for and so I quickly hold out my hand, to stop him from coming any closer to me.
He stops within reach of my hand.
" Don't come any near sir." I quickly say.
An unknown emotion passes through his eyes before he leans back in a more relaxed posture, placing his hands in his pockets.
" I see no other reasons for a decision like this in this case, but it's clear to say that it's personal reasons."
I blink up at him, feeling my heart beating so hard against my chest.
Yes they are personal, so personal that I could never forget.
" Take it anyway you please sir but my reasons are my reasons. I'll say it again for the last time, that my answer is no to you and your company and nothing could change my mind on this.
I believe that we are done here and this shall be our last meeting, now if you'll excuse me, I have a date as you can see." I gesture to my food and tv.
When I watch his eyes darkening a bit, I quickly side step him and go on to stand by the door.
I hold in my breath when he turns and lingers his eyes on me for a few seconds, before walking out. I quickly slam the door shut, locking it before slumping against it, letting out a needed breath.
My face heats up and my eyes grow wide. My hand covers my mouth and a smile takes over, that I actually said no to him.
I said no to Mr Cullen and closed the door on him this time and I've never felt greater.

I've never seen Lucia smile as big as she is right now. She made it here so fast after I had told her about Mr Cullen coming to my place. I've lost count of the many times I've had to repeat myself, because Lucia was enjoying it too much.
I playfully rolled my eyes at her when she started doing some weird dance, because of how happy and proud she is of me. Those are her words and not mine.
She had admitted that she was worried about me at first, after the incident at that company, now she has a reason to relax. This time she helped me in job hunting before she left, since she has plans with Charlie tonight.
I was able to get two interview appointments for tomorrow and I had hope, that atleast one, would be successful. By the end of this week, I would have landed myself a job, thankfully.
The next day came by quickly and like the last time, for my last interview, I woke up early and was ready to go. I had been nervous when I ran into Mr Carlos before I left, I thought that he would ask me about the rent but thankfully he didn't. He simply greeted me and continued his way, the relief that I released was too big.
One of the interviews was at a marketing company and can I just say, it was like meeting Mr Sanders again. That man couldn't stop looking at my chest and making side comments, concerning my beauty and all that stuff. I pretty much bolted out of there, when he got out of his chair and started getting closer to me.
Didn't he know social distancing?
On my second interview, I had my fingers crossed. It was at one of those high profile restuarants and I had applied for a position as a hostess. The interview surely went good and because I had worked at a restuarant before, this added to me giving them insight of my own understanding, through experience of working there.
The interviewer was professional, he asked all the right questions and by the time I left, I was feeling positive.
So now, I was currently at that very same place, that I found my feet lead me to yesterday, after the bad day I had. A welcoming smile was sent my way, when the lady from yesterday, who had offered me cake and literally was an angel for even wasting her time, listening to me ramble about yesterday, noticed me come through the door.
Today I felt like having the same milkshake I had yesterday, because I felt positive and in a good mood.
" And you look far different then yesterday, good news?" Jane says, placing my order on the table.
I learnt that her name is Jane.
" Well I'm feeling much better thank you, the last interview I went to is giving me positive vibes, it's looking promising." I say with a cheesy smile.
" Oh that's good. I hope you get the job."
" Me too, because I really am in need of a job." I say, before taking a sip of the milkshake. " This is really good." I comment.
She chuckles, telling me to enjoy before walking away to attend to other guests.
I drink my milkshake happily, basking in the positive mood I'm currently experiencing.
It's not long that my cellphone rings and disturbs my moment.
" Hello."
" Hello, Is this Miss Grey?"
" Yes, this is she?"
" My name is Michael and I'm calling on behalf of the Sattfire Restaurant mam, I believe that you had come by today for an interview, regarding the Hostess position."
I sit up straight when I hear the name of the restuarant.
" Yes I did."
Woah, they made a decision fast.
" We regret to inform you mam that you did not get the job. We thank you for meeting us today and we wish you all the best in the future."
My heart drops at those words and I feel my throat thick with emotion.
" Oh um, thank you." I say, with my voice disappearing on me.
" Thank you for your time. Bye." The person hangs up and I'm left feeling down.
My appetite literally vanishes as I look on to my milkshake, I push it away from me and look down at the table, feeling tears prick at the corners of my eyes.
Not again with this.
Gosh, I was so sure that I would get this one, but I guess I was wrong.
" Dear, are you okay?" My chest tightens when I hear Jane ask me that question.
There is just something about those words, that cut you extra deep when asked at a time that you are not doing okay.
This is one of those times.
" I didn't get the job." I say, the thick emotion in my voice annoyingly evident.
" Oh I'm sorry...." She says, sitting opposite me.
" Yeah, me too." I look up at her and excuse myself, rushing off to the bathroom to get myself in check.
I spend some time, blinking back tears and mentally telling myself that it's going to be okay and that, I will not give up but will continue job hunting, until I find something.
Feeling slightly better and ready to be among people again, I get out of the bathroom and go back to my seat. I dig into my bag, ready to pay and then leave.
I hear something being placed on the table infront of me.
" Here dear." I glance from the piece of paper to Jane, who smiles down at me.
" It's a nanny job, someone just placed it on our display wall. Look dear, I know it's not much but - "
" I don't mind. I'll take anything right now." I say. " Thank you for thinking of me." I offer a kind smile.
" I have a feeling that this one is definetly yours."
I cross my fingers and she does it too.
Taking a huge breath, I dig out my phone from my bag before taking down the details from the paper.
I call the number and surprisingly a male answers. Something about his voice almost sounds familiar but I ignore that, keeping my focus on enquiring.
Relief and hope mixed ignite in me when the man, who sounds friendly over the phone, tells me that I'm the fifth person who's called and that he would be ready to meet me tomorrow afternoon, right around lunch time.
I didn't mind that at all, as long as I went to that interview and actually nail the job.
By the end of the call, I was floating on air at how things just turned around. I was literally disappointed and sad moments ago, but now I'm floating on air. It's crazy.
I thank God for this moment.
I glance at Jane, who stands behind the counter, busy talking to the waiters. When she turns my way and our eyes meet, I smile and hold up my thumbs.
She laughs, shaking her head.
" Wow." I mutter, looking around the house that I am currently in.It's a double story house that has such a nice homey vibe to it. I was dressed down today and didn't go with no office look, but with a cute floral dress, navy blue blazer and nice sandals that I believed went well with the whole outfit. I made sure to put little make-up today and did my usual ponytail.I only ever left my hair down at home and had gotten used to tying it up, when going to work or just out. " Right this way mam." The caretaker, who had opened the door for me says, leading me to the living room.I am offered some juice while I wait for the parent, to meet me. Apparently I would be interviewed by the father instead of both parents. I didn't mind that and was just ready to meet them, more so the cutie pie, who I might look after for some time. " Miss Grey, sorry for keeping you waiting." A voice says behind me.
' He can't remember, no he can't. He'll hate me even more and this time, he might do as he promised. I really need to get out of here.'I know that staring at him right now, at the state I am in, is not good, but I can't look away. The deep frown he wears on his face, makes me both curious and scared, of what his mind is concluding as he towers over me.This seems to be a continuous thing in our encounters, I simply don't know how to feel about this. Pain has long pinched through my heart, due to how weak our encounters seem to potray me infront of this man.He is a proud, aggressive, arogant man who only thinks about himself and his reputation. He is not used to someone saying no to him, he is used to getting what he wants. That's what he got from me before, he made me fall weak to his charm that night two years ago and I gave him, the most important part of me. He made me feel weak when he literally dragged and
My fingers softly touch her hair as I lay next to her. She is now sound asleep and for some reason, this surprised her dad.Mr Davies was so shocked by Ava's behaviour towards a mere stranger. I mean I am a mere stranger but the way she has been acting towards me, is far different then what she would normally do in a normal situation with a stranger.Mr Davies told me that she is normally shy and because of how sensitive she is, it takes quite some time for her to be comfortable around someone. I got the sense that there was more to what he has been telling me, just by the way she held onto me when I wanted to put her down at first and even the emotion, his eyes expressed, when he talked about her being uncomfortable around people.I decided to stay, well for a while, when she started talking about me staying, because I was okay. I just couldn't leave and upset her. I wouldn't have been able to forgive myself, knowing that I
It is his turn now, to be taken aback by surprise because of my answer. He wanted to know what my problem is and I gave him the answer. No, he wont be satisfied with just this, but he needs a reason and I will give him one." You are the most manipulative man that I have ever met in my life. You interfered into my life when I didn't ask you to!"" What are you talking about?"" You know exactly what I am talking about, it wasn't too hard to figure out that it was because of your influence that I have been rejected, way too many times at all the jobs I went for. I know that I would have gotten one of those jobs, hadn't it been for you!" I point at him, feeling my temper rising." Are you out of your -"" Don't you dare insult me Mr Cullen, you have no right to, just as you had no right to invade into my business. I said no to you and you saw a challenge. Gosh, are you so bored that
" I can't believe you did that." I groan in protest." I had to, you were stressing about it." " But it's my situation to solve. I don't want you to feel obligated to -" " Woah, first of all, I wasn't obligated to do anything. Secondly, you are my bestest best friend, who I love and will do absolutely almost anything for, except share my boyfriend." I scrunch my nose in disgust. " Don't ever say that to me again." I can picture her rolling her eyes right now. " I wanted to help you out of something that was clearly bothering you so much, so you can focus on looking for a job." " Thank you and I'll pay you back, I promise." I say, feeling greatful." Skylar, there's no pressure." " Well, I'm still going to pay you." " Okay okay, enough about this, tell me, how are you doing?" I sigh when I hear this question.
It's been quite a long time since I've felt such lightheartedness in my heart. Being around Ava Lily Davies has done just that and I don't regret taking up this job. I might look at the pay and think it's good and comment about it, but my time with Ava is above that.I almost even forgot that I was looking after her as her nanny, earlier on, because of how near natural it felt to be around her. I have been able to observe and confirm that Ava, is quite a shy child and not to mention, that she totally likes when I read to her. I think she actually watches me acting out the book, more then listen to me.It was the cutest thing when it was her lunch time and she kept on, wanting to share her food with me. I had to show her my own food, so she would be convinced that I was eating too. She simply likes to share. We've had time to play, read, listen to some music and dance and ofcourse, have a little walk outside in her backy
" So, will you tell me what happened back there?" Jackson asks, after 5 minutes of silence in his car.I couldn't remain in that place anymore, I couldn't watch him come close to me and insult me. I felt like I was reliving two years ago but only this time, I could foresee him insulting me infront of everyone. No, I couldn't take that chance and so, all I could think of doing was running away. I didn't even say anything to Lucia, it was an advantage for me to slip away when Charlie came to the dancefloor and distracted Lucia. I had no idea that Jackson had been watching and he chased after me, no matter how many times I told him that he need not worry and that I would call a cab, he insisted on taking me home. Now here we are, seated in his car, inside the premesis of the apartment complex. I don't know how to really answer his question, because I don't want to start revealing about Mr Cullen being th
" Will you come with me?" He says and I nod, since I'm feeling way too tongue tied and emotional to think straight. He takes the lead and I feel his hand against my back, softly guiding me to where ever, he wishes for us to go. I take notice of his car and this makes my footsteps to slow down. " Where are we going?" I finally ask." Somewhere far from here, maybe the park?" He says before heading to the driver's side, to take something. When he returns infront of me, I see him hold out something and glancing down to his hand, my face warms up because it's his handkerchief.I'm so embarassed to be seen in this vulnerable state, I'm literally crying infront of Mr Davies and there is no way to hide this fact." T-thank you." I say with a soft voice, recieving it.I look away from him as I wipe at my eyes. " Would you li
4 Years later.... " Mommy!" I turn around at the sound of that sweet voice. I watch in anticipation as she runs to me, her long hair falling behind her. The moment I capture her in my arms, I bury my face in her hair, loving her sweet smell. " Hello my cutie pie." I say, double pecking her cheeks. Kissing her cheeks is still one of my favorite things to do. " Hi Mommy, look what I got." I place her back down on her feet, crouching down to her level, so we can look at what she has in hand together. " Oh, a gold star!" I gasp, widening my eyes in a surprised manner. " Ms Martin said my drawing is pretty." " I agree, it is so pretty. So tell me, who did you draw?" " My family." " Ooh, I see mommy, daddy, daddy C, granny and grandp
" Mrs Cullen." He says, pulling me close." Mr Cullen." I smile at him." My breathtakingly beautiful bride." He says, touching his forehead with mine.He leans back with a smile, his eyes expressing so much love for me, that it causes my heart to do weird flips.A laugh bubbles out of me, when he twirls me around and ends with a dip, bringing me back up and not giving me a chance to breathe, when he whispers those three beautiful words, that never fail to make me blush like crazy." I love you."My breath catches in my throat, when he kisses me behind my ear." I can't wait for us to be alone." He says." You know, I didn't think you'd last for these couple of months." I say teasingly." I'm glad I did, now I can rub it in your face that I'm a man of my word."" Careful Mr Cullen, or I might think I'm not
I either must be naive or stupid, for even giving him the go ahead, for him to even talk to her.She is a really attractive woman, I'll give her that, but she, showing up here announced and not to mention the fact that she found a way, to get information of where Reece is, now that does not sit well with me.I can't say I am sitting calmly right now, because I've been biting on my nails and glancing at the door, for the last 5 minutes or so. It hasn't been long since he stepped out to talk to her.It had not been a simple agreement, for them to talk, but Reece actually asked if I was okay with it, and I said yes.Oh gosh, I was totally lying.I could only think of him as I said yes, I wanted him to finally face her and not have to continue living with what ifs. I know that the present has been good on us so far, our family and our engagement, but it's only fair for him, to finally say his
" You look so happy." My mother says." Do I?"" Yes, and I love seeing this look on you. It's been a long time, since I've seen it." She says, touching my hair." I must look good then, huh?" I wiggle my brows, making her smile. My own smile wavers and it is replaced by a frown , where I worry about what I see." I think someone isn't as happy, as you say I do." I comment, gesturing to the sight of both my dad and Reece, who look too serious in conversation, from a distance." I've been talking to your dad, and from what I have observed, I can tell that he is opening up. He understands that Reece will always be in your life, because Ava is what bonds you two, together."" I hear you mom and thank you for talking to him." I say, glancing at her.She nods, with a small smile." I think if I hesitated for too long, we wouldn
I'm not one to watch people like a creep, but this morning, I find myself doing it with Reece. He's sleeping so soundly and looking so handsomely boyish, it's cute.He looks like someone with no heavy burdens on his shoulders, and the sight of him sleeping so soundly, tempts me to plant kisses on his face.I realize while watching him, that my heart is speaking. It's even making notes and claiming him as mine. The beautiful man before me is mine and that keeps my heart, skipping beats, in acknowledgment. As I watch him sleep, images of us being together even in the future, with years gone by, play beauty in a slide show. I see a future with this man and I see happiness, with my family. After all that we have been through, the past is just a dim light, that can't overthrow us, but the future looks ever bright and something to have strong faith in.I've had a taste of many circles, hurdles,
WEEKS LATER....' Custody, will be granted to the biological mother, Skylar Grey, as of today.' These are the words that have brought a smile onto my face, for the past weeks.Hearing it being declared and being made official, that Ava is supposed to be with me, as her mother. So much worry had gripped me, standing there and waiting for the verdict.I had worried that because I was in contact with an adoption agency, and that financially, I'm not in the level of the Cullen family, it would be used against me, and would be the main factor, which would make me lose the possibility of having custody of Ava, but no.Custody has been granted to me and she has been with me, ever since. With her being so young, the solution came from the discussion that happened, between me, Reece and Colton, one time, on the days approaching the day for court. The solu
" Thank you for bringing her over." I say to Jane." Anytime you need me to bring her to you, just call me."I nod." Hopefully, I won't need to do that anymore, soon." I say, looking at Ava.I'd asked Jane to bring Ava, so I could spend the whole afternoon with her. Two days have passed, since I last saw everyone, except Ava of course. At first, I'd asked Kelly to bring her over but then, I later considered asking Jane, since I didnt want to be the cause for a disturbance, at her workplace." How have you been holding up?" She asks me, after some minutes of silence between us, passes." Better than the last time you saw me."" That's good. At least, you've had some time to yourself, and some time to think."" Not enough, unfortunately. All that keeps coming back, is Ava, and the time I lost out with her."
I've been having a hard time, taking my eyes off of her. I know that we have spent time together, but it feels like the first time, now that I know who Ava is in my life.Oh gosh, she is my daughter. My own daughter, who I carried in my womb for nine months. With it being late, we decided to return back to Colton's home and I won't lie, and say that I didn't wish to take her back to my place immediately.I had to remind myself that this was not just about me, but Ava, and the changes, that would befall her as time goes. There is so much that will need for us to adjust to, and as difficult as some things may be, but Ava is the most important.I'm a mother, and as a mother, I have to put my daughter first.Gosh, my daughter, it hasn't sunk in totally. It's like a dream, that I wish to not wake up from.Being seated on the rug, against the so
" Do you ever think about the future?" He asks me." Sometimes, why?" I say.He doesn't answer for a few seconds as we are walking, until at some point, he does." I haven't been able to think of me alone in the future. It's not possible anymore." He glances to me and days, " I see you in it."My heart skips a beat, when I hear this coming from him." I think about you a lot."" Does this mean, there's a possibility of seeing me in your future?"I smile at him.Pulling his arm around my shoulders, I wrap my own arm around his middle and we continue on.When we finally reach my apartment complex, we turn to each other." Well, this is me." I say.He reaches out his hand, to gently push back my hair behind my ear." I want to take you away, for a while."" Y
