BLAIR’S POVActually, I had no plan. All I wanted to do was buy myself enough time to process everything Kieran had said to me. We exchanged numbers and he let me go, just before my mother returned. He went straight into feigning being ill as soon as my mother arrived, which was the last thing I saw before slipping out. Luckily, I arrived home to an almost empty house, or at least I sneaked straight to the attic to create the feeling of an empty house for myself. ‘What other secrets did my mother have?’ ‘What other skeletons were there hidden in her cupboard?’ I fell right into the bed, and laid in that position, head up as I stared at the ceiling. I needed to come up with a plan, since I had already promised to have one that Kieran would love by the end of the day. All through the day, I couldn’t quite come up with anything that looked like a plan, I was only drowning in curiosity all day. Ashley was no where in sight and I hadn’t seen my father since he returned, so I decided
BLAIR’S POVI ran straight to home I knew, the attic, dialing Kieran first. “Hey, I think I have the solution to both our problems,” I said, “Both our problems?” he expressed confusion, “I think Jane has something she is not saying, and I need to find out what it is,” I said, “Jane?” He sounded perplexed, “She is not my mother,” I immediately cleared the air, “Now, focus,” I pushed my words with authority,“In two days from now, my father would be returning to the hospital for a checkup,” “I never have access to my parents’ room, but leave that to me,” “You will stall my mother,”’ that immediately felt wrong the moment it left my mouth. “Jane,” I instantly corrected,“You will stall Jane as long as you can, while I find your file and every other evidence I would need,” Kieran was quiet for a while and I wasn’t sure if he was growing cold feet on the plan, or if he just needed time to digest it. “Kieran?” I called, “Kieran, are you there?” I asked. Fear quickly embraced me
BLAIR’S POVThe buzzing of my phone shook me out of bed and it was no other than Kieran. “Kieran?’ I called, “Kieran?” There was utter silence on the other end of the conversation and I was now worried about Kieran. The first beam of sunlight had just hit the surface, and I immediately remembered that it was the day when our plans should take its full course, but my last conversation with Kieran didn’t have a definite end, so I wasn’t sure if I could still count on him. I was unsure of my plans for the day, but I was determined to make good progress with my quest with Jane Williams. “Blair,” Ashley called, I laid still and pretended to be asleep. “Blair,” she called again, with a stronger tone. “We’re leaving for the hospital now,” she reported. I raised my hand and waved her away, pretending to be deep asleep. I heard her loud sigh. Ashley was tired to asking me to go to the hospital with them, as it would gladden my father’s heart and she believed it would make him heal f
BLAIR’S POV “Arggh,” Kieran groaned in pain, with a bleeding leg. He fell to the ground and was shivering from his hair tip to those of his toes. Kieran was sweating and in tears. “You know I hate not being spoken back to, the moment I speak,” Jane said. I immediately looked for somewhere to hide. “You really thought that you could plot an escape with Blair?” Jane queried, with mockery in her tone. “I own you, Kieran,” her tone grew more authoritative and louder. “We were doing so well together,” she said, slowly walking towards him, with the gun pointed at his head, such that Kieran only trembled before her. “You had everything you ever wanted,” she said, “everything!” “but you just had to ruin it for all of us, didn’t you?’ She laughed hysterically for a few seconds above sixty. “You want freedom?” she threw a rhetorical question, in jest of Kieran. “You lost it years ago with my brother, Kieran,” she yelled in his face.It was quite clear now. Kieran told no lies. Ja
BLAIR’S POV I was completely frozen and awaited my doom. Just before she got to me, her phone rang loudly and I guess it was something she couldn’t ignore, even though from the length of time she took to respond, it was obvious to tell her hesitation. “What?” She responded in anger. The silence that followed was an obvious sign that what ever information she got, was nothing delightful. Without another word, she hurried out of the house and zoomed off. I was finally able to breath, heaving a sigh of relief. I ran to Kieran, and found him hanging onto life by a very thin thread. “Kieran,” I called, shaking him rigorously. He was coughing blood and it was quite evident that there was very little left for him. “I’m so sorry, Kieran,” I could not stop apologizing to him, as tears flowed down my eyes in unending streams. I ran to the door, wanting to leave, but returned. I just couldn’t find myself leaving him.I was judged by my own heart. Not only had I failed to help him gai
BLAIR’S POV I felt a rush of emotions through me. Over the years, Jane had built some important connection in the state and I knew that it was pointless, going head to head against her, especially when all I had was words. There was no right action to take, well at least not for me. One thing I did know however, was that directly or indirectly, there had to be war. Jane had declared war. She was finally coming to light. All her evil colors were finally becoming visible, but sadly, only me could see her in the light of what she really was. My heart was burning with anger and a quest for revenge. She had admitted to be responsible for my mother’s death and even if I did nothing else, I wanted her to pay for her crime. I believed that no matter how evil my mother was, I should have been given the privilege to meet her. If my father did not resent his wife, what right did she have to end her life, in the guise of making her pay for her evil to my father, when in reality
BLAIR’S POVAs I watched her drive out for the second time, her last word triggered an idea. Jane was now battling from a place of power and if I was going to have a chance in a war against her, bringing her to book, I would need to be fighting from a place of power too. I picked my phone to do something I haven’t done in a while. “Hello,” I said, subtly. “How fast can you get to Vegas?” I asked. “Thank you,” Knowing fully well that my father would not be returning, I fled from home to the only other place I knew- the little apartment Brian and I shared. As I slowly walked in, looking at all the furniture, all covered in dust and some terribly broken, the apartment filled my heart with lots of memories, but good and horrible memories. Everything was playing like a movie before me, from the lies of being an entirely different person, to finally admitting and beginning the run for our lives. I had tears in my eyes and smiles on my lips, as I recalled the million times he called
BLAIR’S POV “This can’t be!” Sebastine paced the living room. I had to take a seat. This was too much for me to take. His father remained seated and didn’t say another word for the next few minutes. Sebastine on the other hand would not stop ranting and no one said a word. No one could tell him how to feel. After about twenty minutes, his father finally got him to seat and shared the actual story to us both. “My wife couldn’t bear any children after years of marriage,” he began, “After years of trying and several medications for her, with little or no progress recorded, she sunk deep into depression and went further into depression with every passing day,”He sighed. “I grew more and more weary, seeing her lose her joy and very essence, especially since she knew that she was the reason why we couldn’t have children,”“One day, her friend came by,” “Or at least, she wanted to call her that,” he said. “Jane was a classmate of hers from high school,” “She had been really pisse
