Tiana's POV.
My heart pounded hard against my chest as I stared at my mate, his face being the exact reflection of my husband's. I still could not believe it. If not for the reassuring feeling within me I would have sweated it was a lie.
Who was this man? Why does he look so much like my husband? And how does he know my name?
"Tiana, are you listening to me? I said leave!" His voice was calm, sharp and controlling while Zayden's was hard, blunt and commanding. Why was I comparing them?
"Who are you?" I asked in a hush voice. I wondered where I got the courage to ask him such questions. Why was I not scared? Was it because he was my mate? Did others also feel this feeling of security around their mates?
"That doesn't matter for now," He replied then suddenly turned behind "Someone is coming,"
"What?" His words sent me my heart racing in fear and panic. I was told not to leave the room, had I known I would be caught I'd never have left.
If Zayden finds out I disobey his order I will be in serious trouble. I've heard stories about how merciless Zayden was towards those that go against his orders. What am I going to do?
The sound of approaching foots steps grew louder. I was too busy in my panic state that I did not notice when the man with me that was with me disappeared.
Immediately, door bursted open and about seven fully armed men rushed inside the room. The one who seemed to be their leader shot a deadly glance at me, his eyes devoid of warmth "what are you doing here?"
His voice was hard and caused my heart to jump out of my chest making breathing hard and difficult.
"I..I..I got lost," I tried my best not to startle but it was of no use.
"You were told not to leave your room so how did you end up here?" Another throw the question at me. His voice was hoarse and sharp.
I searched through my head and looked for a possible answer to give him, but none was coming.
My legs became glued to the ground and at the moment I wished it would open up and swallow me into it's bottomless pit just so I could escape this moment.
"Speak up already," One of them yelled out impatiently.
"I.."
"You what?"
"We don't have time for this," The leader said cutting in.
"Now listen carefully," He continued and took a step closer to me.
"Did you see anyone suspicious within these walls?"
Silence reigned in the room for a while before I spoke up "No, I didn't,"
The man remained silent for a while studying my expression carefully, His gaze was peircing and he was unconvinced by response.
"Are you sure?" He asked, with his voice remaining ice cold.
"Yes," I replied reassuring him with a nod. He remained silent for a while with an unreadable expression on his face. His eyes remained glued to my face until one of his men came and whispered to him.
"Sir, we best he on the move. Let's not forget that the suspect is really fast and could get away quickly if we dwell here for long,"
"Very well then," The leader responded and stepped away from me. "Return back to your room this instant," He ordered before turning around and leaving the room alongside his men.
That was a close one. I breathed out in relief.
Once he was sure they had left, my mate came out from behind the shelves.
"Thank you, for not revealing my whereabouts to them." His voice was soft and gentle causing me to feel abit at ease.
"You are welcome. Now can you tell me who you are and how you know my name?...Also why do you look so much like him? Are you... perhaps twins? No that's not possible, Zayden doesn't have a brother not more a twin. If he did I would have known- Everyone would have known.
"My name is Alphonso, that's all I can say for now. Don't tell anyone you saw me tonight, go back to your room, I promise to come and see you another day, then I would explain better to you,"
"Wait, why should I trust you?" I asked causing him to halt in his tracks.
"Because I'd never lie to you," He added then dashed out of the library into the dark hall.
As soon as he left, I too exited the library, taking careful steps I walked back to my room. The last thing I wanted was for someone to see me on my way back.
After a challenging journey, i arrived at the door to my room. Gently, I pulled the door knob open and slided into the room.
Exhuastedly, I fell on the bed..I closed my eyes trying to get some rest but it was if no use. All I could see was my mates face.
"He said his name is Alphonso," I soliloquized silently.
Why did I have to meet my mate after marriage? Why were the guards looking for him? Could they have found out he was my mate?I heard of how possessive Zayden was of his personal properties.
My head grew heavy from thinking too much. I got up from my bed and went over to the window, it was raining.
Carefully, I rested my head against the window, and folded my arms cross my chest then stared deeply outside.
I wonder how Matt was doing. I knew how much he hated it when it rained. He easily get cold, I hope he was warm enough.
What am I saying? I'm sure Sofie is right besides him keeping him warm.
I bit my lips as a sharp pain peirced through my chest.
I used the back of my hand to wipe away the silent tears from my eyes.
"Open up immediately," A loud bang from the door jolted me out of my depressed mood.
I tightened my hold on the keychain, staring through the doors of where I thought Matt would be.It’s been an hour since we were supposed to meet, but I don’t see him anywhere.“Excuse me, have you seen Matt anywhere?” I asked a random girl who had been leaving his classroom, grabbing her arm gently. She must be his classmate.Matt was the alpha’s son and so the next in line to be the alpha. Everyone knew who he was.Her head shook to the side and I dropped my hand, feeling disappointed that I still had no clue where my supposed mate was.Thanking her for not flipping out after getting stopped by me, I turned on my heels, making my way to the cafeteria.Matt was my mate and boyfriend for two years. Being the son of the alpha, everyone wanted to have him.But he was mine.Today was our second anniversary and I got a keychain to remind him of the first day we had met.I had other things ready, but this was just a start.“Hey! Tiana,” someone called out to me from brunt and I immediately
I sat on the edge of my bed, staring at the keychain still clutched in my hand.It was supposed to be our anniversary gift. The thought that Matt had rejected me on the day of our anniversary sent another wave of pain through me. I could still feel my heart constricting painfully like someone had grabbed it and was squeezing it tightly. Breathing was hard for me, painfully hard. It felt as if my entire world had come crashing down, and I wasn't certain what I was going to do anymore. My fingers tightened around the keychain until the edges dug into my skin. I stared at my hand as it turned white, but I didn't squeeze. The pain helped me focus and kept me from completely falling apart. The keychain was like my life force. My eyes were swollen from crying, but the ache in my chest refused to go away. How could Matt do this to me? How could Sophie?I had trusted both of them and yet they threw this at my face, treating me like I was thrashing to them. I thought he was preparing
I stood silently as the maid adjusted the veil on my head, her fingers trembling slightly. The days had passed by in a blur, and finally, I was being thrown out. The white gown I wore felt heavy, not because of the fabric but because of what it represented. It wasn’t just a wedding dress, it was a chain binding me to a life I didn’t want.I had tried to run away previously but that didn't end the way I wanted. So now I had no choice. My mother stood behind me, her sharp eyes scanning my reflection in the mirror.“Stand straight,” she ordered, her voice devoid of any warmth. “At least try to look presentable.”I was getting married to a man known to kill, and that was all she was saying.I was being sent off to my death, but they wouldn't care.I straightened my posture, swallowing the lump in my throat. My hands fidgeted with the lace on my dress, and she slapped them away.“Stop that. You’ll ruin it,” she snapped, fixing the part I had touched. It's just a dress. I wanted to sa
The ride to Zayden’s pack was silent. He didn’t say a word, and I didn’t dare speak either. My hands rested in my lap, trembling slightly as I stared out of the car window. So this is how my life would be now? All the tales of the women he had killed flashed through my mind and I couldn't help but wonder how much longer it would be before he killed me. I turned to look at him, looking away when he turned to look at me. Zayden was attractive, with long black hair and red eyes. He had a strong physique hidden under all those clothing. But he could kill just as easily as he could seduce a woman. And I had to pay mind to that. When we arrived, the sheer size of the mansion overwhelmed me. “Are we staying in the pack house?” I turned to him, saying my first words since we got married. "My home is away from the rest of the pack. Don't expect to see anyone here,” Zayden replied and I turned back to the building. This place was far from home, but I just had to keep my mouth shut. Z
