AVA'S POV
It felt like there was more weight on my shoulders as I paced back and forth in my office. Marcus remained still in front of me. "Ava, we really need to talk," he stated in a stern tone.
Knowing that nothing he said would ease my day in the slightest, I sighed. "What is it, Marcus?"
His tone was solemn as he said, "It's about the recent problems with our food supplies. Our system has been losing shipments, and some of our people have observed unusual activity in the area's forests."
I felt an overwhelming wave of frustration and balled my fists. I spoke with a hint of worry in my voice, "We cannot afford to be without our food supplies, especially not right now. Have you found out who's behind these problems?"
