Chapter 70

*JORDYN’S POV*

Amelia was sitting in the living room, curled up on the couch with a blanket draped over her shoulders. She looked up as I entered, her eyes tired out but grateful.

“Hey,” She said softly.

“Hey,” I replied, walking over to sit across from her. “How are you feeling?”

She gave a small shrug, her eyes falling to her hands. Better, I guess. It’s just been a lot, you know? Everything’s been overwhelming.”

I nodded, understanding more than I wanted to admit. “I get it. But you’re safe here. You don’t have to worry about anything.” I said.

Amelia looked up at me, her eyes searching mine for something—reassurance, maybe. “I don’t want to be a burden, Jordyn. I didn’t come back to cause problems.” She complained.

“You’re not a burden,” I said firmly. “This is my responsibility too. I’m not going to leave you to deal with it on your own.”

She nodded, but I could see the uncertainty in her expression. There were things left unsaid between us, things we hadn’t yet addressed. But I
