Tristan's Confusion

Tristan woke up suddenly, he was sweating profusely. The dream had felt too real. He got out of bed rubbing a hand on his head as he tried to make sense of the dream or vision, whatever it could be called. In it he had seen  a child, his eyes too bright, his  voice too strong. A child that called to something deep inside him.   He swung his legs over the edge of the makeshift bed he’d claimed for himself, his muscles tensed as he tried to shake the feeling off, but it wouldn’t leave.

He wasn’t the kind of man to dwell on such things. He was a rogue, he answered to no one and didn't play by any rules. He was a man who didn't believe power was given by fate but that it had to be taken. And yet, his fists clenched.   He had felt something in that vision, something that had unsettled him.  Just then there was a knock on his makeshift cabin door. It was his second in command, Maddox.

“Tristan, what happened to you? You look like someone who just saw a ghost” he said, noticing the expression on his face.

As he stepped in, he gazed intently at Tristan

“Nightmares?”

Tristan scoffed.

“Do I look to you like someone who has nightmares?”

Maddox looked at him as if he wanted to say something but decided not to.

“We have to move immediately,” he said.

The packs are restless.

“Seems your rendezvous with Alpha Leclair's daughter is going before you” he said with a smirk on his face.

Immediately Tristan began to relieve in his mind the memory of their fight together and the strange connection between them and what they had shared afterwards. And now strangely, this dream. The vision of  a child, his jaw tightened.   He turned away from Maddox, moving toward the worn trunk at the edge of the room. He flipped it open, searching through the old books and scraps of information he had collected over the years and then he found it. A leather-bound text, old and frayed at the edges.   Maddox frowned.

“What’s that?” Tristan didn’t answer.

His eyes scanned the page and immediately the words he was looking for seemed to jump out at him as if they had been waiting for this moment.

“A Pure Alpha shall rise, born of two who should never be."

His stomach twisted.   Because for the first time in his life, Tristan felt the pull of fate and he hated it cos it's something he has never believed in.

Isabella stood before her father in his chambers as the morning sun drifted into the room. Her father looked intently at her, his face unreadable. She had told him everything, the fight with the rogue Alpha, the vision and the undeniable connection she felt to it. He had listened in silence and now he simply watched her, as if weighing whether her words even deserved acknowledgment.

Finally, he sighed.

“Isabella.”

She braced herself for what was to come.

“You are a warrior and should not bother yourself with such fairy tales”

Isabella could not believe that after everything she had sacrificed her father still thought less of her.

“It wasn’t just a dream!” She took a step closer, frustration flaring to life inside her.

“The Blood Moon is different this time and you know that. I’m not the only one who felt it.”

Her father looked angrily at her as he shouted.

“Enough of all this your nonsense talk about dreams and prophecy” his voice echoing through the room

“You have been trained as a warrior to protect the pack and not to see dreams and visions”

Isabella refused to be intimidated by her father's outburst as she said.

“And what if the dreams and visions as you call it are real?”

Her father's expression hardened.

“Then I do not think that it is your duty to concern yourself with such and I will not entertain the idea that my own daughter would be foolish enough to believe that she's connected to some stupid ancient prophecy.”

The words hit harder than she expected. Her father had never entertained the thought of her leading. She knew that already but it still hurts her each time she hears him say it.

“And if I am?” her father was silent and then without warning he said

“Then you are even more foolish than I thought initially.”

At that point it became clear to Isabella that she would never get her father's approval and whatever truth she wanted to know, she would have to find it herself.

Meanwhile somewhere, at the center of a vast stone wall stood Edmund Drake. He was a very tall man whose presence alone made even the most deadly warriors uneasy. A man whose soul has long stopped caring about humanity. The moment the Blood Moon had risen, he had felt the energy and immediately sent his creatures to capture the girl and even though they had failed, that attack was just a small test compared to what was to come especially now that he knows she's carrying The Pure Alpha.

He had spent years trying to change the course of nature and now the prophecy was unfolding before his very eyes . He smiled coldly as he said to himself

“The child will be mine,” his voice barely above a whisper.

His loyal followers lurked in the shadows watching their master knowing that they dared not speak unless they are spoken to. He turned to the only  woman in their midst, she was the most ruthless amongst them.

“Prepare the others,” he commanded.

“We will strike as soon as the time is right” with her head slightly bowed she asked

“What about the Alpha's daughter?”

He smiled devilishly, a smile devoid of warmth but full of dangerous thoughts.

“She will be mine soon”

  • THE PURE ALPHA    The attack

The Lunaris pack had just withstood the most devastating attack. Buildings had been burnt and destroyed, it lay in ruins. They had lost a lot of warriors. As Isabella walked through it all, her heart was heavy. They had defended their home with everything they had and yet it lay in ruins. Lives lost and families left to begin to pick up the pieces of their lives again from scratch. The healers did their best to attend to everyone who needed attending to, but even they were beginning to be exhausted as they worked tirelessly round the clock. The attack had been too precise to be taken at face value. As far as she was concerned it wasn't a random attack. She believed it wasn't a rogue attack. They are dealing with a much greater and powerful enemy. She searched immediately for her father and found him at the central post near the pack's entry. He was with some of his best warriors. His posture was rigid, as he stood looking for survivors. She walked up to her father with slow but deli

Alpha Leclair stared at Isabella and then asked in a thunderous voice, “What is this I hear, Isabella?” “What did you hear, father?” Isabella asked in return. Alpha Leclair was mad with fury “Don't test me young girl” he said in a low and menacingly controlled voice. “Is it true that you are pregnant?”At that point she didn't see the need to keep stalling but she also knew that her father's anger at this point could burn the whole house down if she told him the truth but she didn't have a choice. “It's true father” Isabella said, unable to look her father in the eyes. “Who is the father?” He asked in a voice that showed he was doing all that he could at that point to control his anger and Isabella knew that one stupid answer could bring down her father's wrath on her, but how could she tell him that the child she was carrying was for a rogue alpha. “Who?” he asked again. Her pulse pounded. “Tristan Wolfe.” she replied in a barely audible voice. Alpha Leclair was stunn

  • THE PURE ALPHA    A strange new home

When Isabella was taking her things to leave after the argument with her father, she did not waste her time in thinking he would come to his senses and stop her, because she knew he wouldn’t. She had always known somehow that this day would come though she hadn't known it would be under such circumstances. She went to get her horse whom she had named Luna. The horse was strong and silver grey in color. Isabella took one last look at the packs surroundings just before she left its boundaries. She wasn't happy leaving the pack in this way but her father had left her with no other choice than to choose her child over the pack. She must protect the child and find a way to unite the fractured packs and save the dying werewolf kingdom. Her only comfort being that she would have Tristan by her side as she rode out of the gates on her horse, but as she rode on her horse away from the pack and into the forest, she couldn't help the feeling that there were dark forces hiding in the darkness of

Despite Jasper's answers, Isabella was still not convinced and she asked him again "Why?” Her voice was soft but sharp with curiosity. “Why help me?” Jasper simply replied saying “I have heard about the prophecy and what is coming scares me, and you are a part of it. The least I can do is to help protect you” “The enemies of a new and united werewolf kingdom are everywhere and they will stop at nothing to stop all these from happening.” “Who are these enemies?” she asked He shook his head. “I don’t know yet, but they’re closer than you think. Be careful.” As he was leaving he turned to her and said in a voice laced with warning. “Trust no one, Isabella. Not even those you think you can.” As Jasper left, Isabella was bored and she began to walk around the sanctuary until she came to a room filled with books. The room smelt damp and the books were all old obviously from age and use. As she looked through the books she found that they were filled with books and an

The evening air was cool and it wanted to rain. Isabella decided to take a walk from the sanctuary down its path leading to the edge of the forest deep in thought. The sky became dark instantly and Isabella had to hurry back before the rain would come down on her and just then she saw her.A woman was standing at the edge of the trees that were on the side of the sanctuary, she had long silver hair that was shining in the evening light. She wore a dark cloak. Isabella's heart almost stopped as she saw the woman and she watched her closely as she stepped forward, her hand already on her dager ready to use it if it became necessary. Her eyes never left the woman's face. She noticed she had a deep look in her eyes like one who had been through a lot and had lived to tell her story.“I have been waiting for the right time to reach out to you,” the woman said, though her voice was soft but Isabella didn't relax. She was still alert.Isabella paused, took a step back, her whole body tensed,

Tristan sat across from his second in command Maddock in the small cabin they dwelled on the outskirts of the territory, both of them watching the fire they had lit to keep warm. Tristans thoughts filled with thoughts of the night of the Blood Moon.He thought he had left everything behind, his pack, his past but somehow he had found himself tied to it in this prophecy that he couldn't escape. The visions, the pull he always felt towards her was something he couldn't ignore. “What's going on in that mind of yours again, You look like you’ve seen a ghost,” his friend and second in command, Maddock said, his voice pulling Tristan back to the present.“It's this prophecy man” Tristan said leaning forward. “I need to find the answers that I seek about the prophecy.”Maddock gave him a sideways glance “The one about the Pure Alpha? You’ve come a long way to begin to dig about that, Tristan. You shouldn't have gotten yourself involved in the first place.”“I didn’t choose for any of thi

  • THE PURE ALPHA    Felicity's Arrival

Isabella made up her mind to leave the Sanctuary and go search for Tristan. Especially after Seraphinas last warning. The wind was strong and carried its sound throughout the forest and as she was getting ready to leave, she heard the sound of horse hooves. She turned quickly to know who it was that was coming to her hiding place. The rider on the horse was wearing a cloak and at first Isabella thought that it might be Seraphina again until the rider removed the hood of the cloak and she saw her.“Felicity,” she almost screamed with excitement. They had been friends since childhood and here she was at a time Isabella was at her lowest and she thought that her friend being here was a very comforting one.The horse stopped just in front of Isabella and Felicity came down from The horse, her expression wasn't what Isabella had expected.“You look... different,” Isabella said, her voice tinged with surprise. Felicity’s eyes darted across the forest as she nodded to her friend's greeting.

The full moon was up and casting shadows across the land while Alistair Blackwood stood at the edge of his private building looking over his vast packlands. He was a very tall man with little patience, his mind on the plans he had, plans that would shake the werewolf kingdom, he was just waiting for the right time to unveil them."If only she knows how much power she carries” Alistair said with a low growl that seemed to shake the room. "That child will be mine, I must make sure of that”His most trusted advisor, Henrik stood by his side. Henrik was a very sharp witted man and his reputation went before him. He looked at his Alpha and instinctively knew that he was deep in thought and that now was not a very good time to interrupt him, so he patiently waited."I will send a messenger," Alistair finally said in a very firm voice. The fight with Edmund was over and the noise in the house was calm now. As soon as Isabella remembered that it was Felicity who had put them in this terrible situation, she became angry all over again, and to think that she had come begging for forgiveness not knowing she had other plans in her mind.Rhyke was already barking out orders to the warriors and his shout bought her back from her drifting thoughts.“Do we wait for Tristan to return, or we send a message across to him?” He asked as turned to look at her.“We'll wait, everything is under control already. No need to alarm them. But we must be on guard at every time from now on.” Isabella said.Just then Rhyke exclaimed,“We can’t let Felicity go. She has to pay for what she did.”“He's right,” Seraphina said. “If we don't use her as an example, others might try the same thing too.”Isabella’s chest tightened. Felicity had once been like a sister. Facing her, the one who’d ruined everything, made Isabella sick to her stomach. B

His eyes glowed with a cold, wicked satisfaction, and his evil energy filled the room like a shadow.Rhyke moved in front of her, blocking Edmund’s path. He reached for his sword, but his stance told Isabella this was no normal fight. This was something far worse.Esmund’s voice sliced through the silence. “So, this is where the mighty alpha hides, surrounded by her precious pack and her Son. Do you really think you can stop me, Isabella?” His smile was sharp, full of hate. “Felicity was just the start.”Isabella knew that Edmund was such a wicked person as they have met before but she was pregnant then, and if he didn't care about her being pregnant then, there was no way he was going to care now. His heart is filled with so much darkness. She only feared for her pack members.“We've stopped you before Edmund and we will do it a

The fractured packs had been united and there has been peace since then. But each day that passes without any issues, was like a blessing to Isabella.“What's up,” Rhyke asked. “This look on your face, tells me something is wrong.”Isabella smiled but Rhyke can see she is not happy.“The weight of having to lead, knowing that anything can happen at any moment bothers me.” She said,“Thanks Rhyke, I really appreciate your loyalty and I'm sure father would have been proud of you if he were still here.”“The pack is my family too, so no need to thank me,” he said, “We all bear the burden together with you. I have not regretted working with you because you are an excellent leader.”Isabella breathed deeply as his words comforted her.”Tristan and Leandro will be returning soon. He had followed Isabella's eyes and saw that she was looking at Felicity and there was a friend on Isabella's face.“Each time I see her, I remember her betrayal and I still think she has not changed.”As they were talking, Felicity waved in their direction as she saw Isabella looking at her and Isabella waved her back.“She's good though. She fights well,” Rhyke said. “Why don't you have a talk with her, and find out for yourself if she's changed or not.” He suggested “It's not possible to know if she is, I know my friend she's a sweet talker, but I'll try anyway.”“Let me go check on Tristan,” he said walking away.Isabella nods h

The first claw scraped against the stone like someone dragging metal over glass. He had moved fast, pushing Seraphina behind a broken pillar just as a black wolf lunged at them. The thing that followed wasn’t a wolf, not fully. It was wrong. Its bones jutted at odd angles, its eyes pitch black, and its skin moved like liquid shadow. It let out a screech that was disturbing to the ears.“These must have been born out of magic, or someone is just messing with what he doesn't understand,” he said, low and grim. “There are too many for us to fight.”The Moon Witch, the one they’d hoped would help, was already moving to the pool of water. She whispered something in an old tongue, and the water flashed bright silver before fading back to stillness. She turned to Seraphina.“You need to run. As the dancing and celebration was going on, Seraphina sat in a quiet corner. She could sense that this unity was about to be put to test. She remembered how she had come to know about her powers and her involvement in the prophecy.Seraphina had sat at the edge of the stream. She was barely 25, an Omega of the DarkMoon pack. She always loved coming to the stream. There was a kind of peace it gave her. It was very cold, almost snowing but she didn't mind. She just sat there listening. The water had always spoken to her. Today it whispered warnings, names, places, and secrets. It whispered something terrifying.“You have been chosen to protect the child,” it said. “The child who will end the war and save what’s left of all the clans. The child must live, or all will fall.” Seraphina blinked, as she was surprised to hear this. She didn't know what child it spoke of. She wasn’t even high-ranking or respected. She was an Omega. Lowest rank in her pack. Constantly overlooked. And yet the

  • THE PURE ALPHA    The Unity of the Fraction Packs

After that great battle, the members of the both packs went about their daily activities in peace. And with the birth of the pure Alpha, there was great hope of a better future for the werewolf kingdom. Isabella and Tristan had called a meeting of all the packs that were willing to stand with them to build a better future. Today was the day of the meeting. Banners from each pack fluttered in the breeze, freshly sown, newly inked, lined side by side. The wolves had come. From the frozen lakes of the North, from the deserts of the South, from river clans and ancient bloodlines tucked into the mountains. They arrived, most of them with caution. Not yet sure of the promised unity. But they came. They came because of what some of them had seen and heard. Tristan stood confident at the head of the pack with the curse no longer on him, the fire in his veins turned to something calmer. They came because they’d seen Isabella, holding her son with grace and strength, her eyes sharp, her prese

There was no time for jubilation yet, they had a battle to win. Tristan, Rhyke and Leandro went to finish what they had started. They left a few of the warriors with Isabella and the baby. It was a fierce battle. The bodies of dead warriors were scattered all over the ground. Tristan stood in the midst of it all, his chest rising and falling as the rage pumped through his veins, his armor cracked while his blade was dripping. The last wave of the enemy had come against them like water on rock, and as he started to shift, something inside him had begun to take over. He could feel it, the old rage was coming back to the surface, scraping its teeth along his spine. Every strike he’d delivered on the field had come easier than the last. He had allowed the rage to take over him. His vision had started to blur again, his hands began to tremble but not from tiredness. The scream could almost be heard through the battlefield. And The sounds of her screaming made Tristan freeze where he stood. The blood dripped from his fingers, while his chest was rising with every breath. A Storm was coming and the clouds became dark. The thunder clapped like war drums. But it was her screams, her pain, that stopped everything inside him. He turned around and immediately saw she was kneeling on the ground. Rhyke was by her side already and two other warriors near the ridge, her face was pale, and she was sweating seriously. She held her stomach with one hand while reaching out with the other one to no one in particular. “It’s time!” Rhyke shouted looking in Tristan's direction. “She’s in labor!” “Now?,” Tristan mumbled, confused.
