Chapter 5
Willy opened his eyes:
“Oh, it’s nothing I’m just imagining the heat of the sun, to help get this suit to dry up,” He said; and he found himself staring straight into Wendy’s beautiful, amazing and dreamy-hazel-eyes.
She was a bit shorter than him.
Wendy must have thought he was crazy.
“Go on feel it, see if it’s still wet,” Willy encouraged her.
She pinched the jacket’s fabric and gasped, “It’s dry!” and she added, “Where did that blue dust come from? on the fabric of your jacket?”
Willy shrugged and said, “I don’t know.”
Wendy said, “Here let me dust it off.”
And she dusted it off.
A group of young people passed by at that precise moment, one of them coughed and said out loud, “I think I’m gonna develop a flu.”
“So, you’re Willy Goodwill,” Wendy said and she smiled at him.
“And— you’re Wendy Rivers,” Willy echoed sentimentally, and he smiled warmly back at her.
They had reached the entrance of a crowded shopping mall.
“You will never forget my name, will you?” Willy said smiling again.
“How can I? But you are much different now, changed in some sort of, unexplainable way. Why haven’t I been seeing you around much?” She asked looking at him.
“You want to know the truth?” Willy asked.
Wendy nodded.
Willy looked away and said simply, “I hid from you,”
It was the truth;
“So, you were hiding?!” Wendy shook her head in disbelief, and she added, “From me? Any particular reason— why? You were hiding from me?”
“Oh, it’s simple,” Willy said slowly.
Wendy nodded with an, “Ah-huh?” encouraging him to continue.
“Because I was ashamed, that I was just a plain homeless man, nothing much to offer to you,” Willy said simply.
“I can understand that,” Wendy nodded, she had not thought about that.
“I would’ve done the same, If I were in your shoes. But, I am forever grateful that, you have beaten off that mugger that other time,” she added.
She was referring to Nixon Rack, who a few months ago, had held her up at knifepoint in an isolated alley, and tried to make off with her purse. Of course Nixon was un-successful, because luckily, Willy happened to be around at that precise moment and he saved her by scaring off the scumbag Nixon with a piece of timber; which he was ready to use as a club.
Brett’s restaurant was far away now.
She turned back around and pointed to the other side of the street, it was towards the left.
“You remember that cafe right?” Wendy asked.
Willy smiled and nodded, “Sure, how will I forget!”
It was at that cafe, Wendy had first insisted that she should at least buy a coffee for Willy, if he refused to accept cash: That was for rescuing Wendy from being robbed on the street.
It was in that cafe that she had patiently listened to Willy who admitted that he had not even a single clue of who he was, Wendy had given him a puzzled look and she had said, “You don’t seem like you’re from around here either.”
She went on to say that she was a social Worker and Willy’s case was right up her alley, she could help in some ways.
Well here they were again, one year removed from that pleasant first meeting experience; now they were back in that same cafe again:
“I believe the correct term is Deja vu,” Willy said smiling lowering his cup of expresso.
“Yeah that,” Wendy agreed. “How come you know a lot of things, but you can’t remember anything about your past?”
Willy shook his head, “Beats me, but what I do know now is, I’m returning a favour, by buying coffee for the most beautiful girl I have ever seen.”
Wendy smiled deeply the colours of her face flushed.
Willy realized that his right hand was now resting on her soft left hand again. The feeling that it was generating: Was intense.
. . . . .
The table was small, they were sitting facing each other and unlike a year ago when Willy was careful not to come into any physical contact; today he did not even care; Even Wendy for her part, she was not even aware that, beneath the miniature table their feet were touching and above it, their hands were touching, or did she?
It was now or never, Willy cursed softly under his breath, “F**k it.”
He reached over gently and kissed her.
She did not resist.
Her mouth was soft and warm, Willy’s heart leapt with excitement in his chest, it was the best feeling ever!
. . . . .
She sneezed into a handkerchief, and she said, “I don’t know what would have happened, if at that crucial moment you weren’t there.”
Willy nodded and said, “Now we are even.”
Wendy laughed, “I yelled at that dork for being so obnoxious to you; Is that what you’re referring to?”
Willy just nodded and smiled; he wondered what it would feel like to kiss her again, but not just that, to embrace her and tell her that he loved her.
She for her part—
She looked at Willy thinking how cute he looked in that new suit and said, “You’re welcome Willy. By the way it was funny you know.”
“No,” Willy said, smiling eyes wide in mock surprise.
“I don’t think it was funny,” Willy disagreed but he was still smiling.
“Anyway,” Wendy shook her head.
She added, “but, I can see that you have changed a lot, I don’t know if it’s for the best or for worse, are you still that clueless and lost person? Or, are you a totally different person altogether? Probably dangerous: What I’m trying to say is you’re totally different.”
Wendy coughed and looked at Willy curiously.
“And you like that don’t you?” Willy smiled.
“You haven’t even told me how is it that you are now wearing a suit,” Wendy shook her head. “Did you find a job?”
“Kind of,” Willy said shrugging. “But it’s not something I want to discuss about here, now.”
It was quite frank, and Wendy looked a bit uncomfortable.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to — but it’s not what you think it is,” Willy said.
He looked around at the suddenly busy cafe they were in and he said, “I need to do something first, afterwards I will tell you everything, okay?”
“Okay,” Wendy said, and she stood up to go.
She sat back down again and she added, “don’t keep me in suspense you know where to find me.”
Chapter 6 SHE WAS LEAVING: Wendy was walking towards the crowded people. Willy stood there for a while and watched her go, she was as graceful as a deer; even in her non revealingly outfit that she was in, she was simply beautiful to watch. She was in those same outfit that she had worn in the morning. She was on her way home now. Willy loved the way she had tied her hair back in a relaxed fish tail behind her, it simply looked good on her. Not that Willy was a judge on hair styles, but everything that Wendy did seemed perfect him. Willy stood still watching till she was hidden from view. Than he went inside the cafe again; drank an iced tea and had a couple of cinnamon buns and he decided what his next move should be. . . . . . It was now past mid-day: Without any particular reason Willy thought about the conversation that he had a few weeks ago– he had that conversation wi
Chapter 7THERE WAS A LOUD BANG! There it came now – that was it. The bullet was coming — Moe was about to become history.A loud ricochet sounded!“Why don’t you two faggots pick on someone you own size!” suddenly—a totally different angry voice altogether barked just above Moe’s left ear.Moe opened his eyes in surprise, he was still alive! He felt the presence of that someone else standing near him — close, just behind his back, but: Moe cannot see him, he was invisible! But something else totally strange, was right in front of him —Right there in front of him, there was a bright transparent shield made out of pure energy, it was a force field! The two big men were standing there with their mouths gaping open in surprise. The ricocheting sound was the sound of the bullet that had deflected off on that force-field-shield.The tall
Chapter 8 THREE CHINESE MEN got near, they were all holding semi-automatic guns. One of them said something in Chinese, about a bright light that had previously illuminated that dim warehouse. But, now there was nothing there except the goods, and perhaps a few mice. . . . . . Willy stood there watching the 3 Chinese men looking frantically this way and that way. They were all yelling at each other in the rhythmic Chinese language. Of course they couldn’t see him. He had the invisible mode locked on just at the nick of time using the wrist Enabler. The trio gave up and left the same way that they had come, still communicating harshly with each other in Chinese. About 30 seconds later after the 3 Chinese dudes have left— Willy activated the phantom effect and went through the warehouse wall as if it weren’t there at all. “Man this sh*t is awesome,” Willy found himself saying in delight.
Chapter 8 THOUSANDS OF MILES AWAY, in China– Willy found out that he was in– Guangzhou city of the Guangdong province of China. The city was crowded just like any other normal Chinese city usually would. The Orientals were quite busy going about doing their usual daily activities: They were not particularly too keen about a Caucasian man in a neat black suit walking the streets of Guangzhou city. A petite old lady with a yellow wrinkled face nodded at him, he nodded politely back and continued, he would’ve bowed at her but than he remembered he was in China and he was not in Japan. He realized that he was now in a busy market district as people were busy selling and buying, they were trading things like Chinese lanterns, sweet rice cakes and tea along with a numerous assortment of spices and goods. That was when he decided in his heart that he would throw away the culture tube into the sea perhaps, or he would throw it int
Chapter 9WILLY FELT PARTLY COLD and partly warm, then he felt something lick his face:Willy opened his eyes, it was a dog, a puppy no it seemed too big to be a puppy. It was a young dog; There it went again; it was licking his face again.Willy sat up, he was on a beach. A part of his legs was being washed by the waves. The lower part. That explained why he had felt cold much lower down his feet. The warm sunlight was pouring down. It felt like it was just morning. And it actually was morning. He was still fully dressed in the black suit and black shoes. The Enabler was still intact on his left wrist. He felt his pants pocket, sure enough the culture tube was still there. He shook his head to clear it. Was it a vision or a dream? It was so real so vivid, the man morphed into a blue female with ruby red eyes and she had way too much canine teeth. He shivered; And it was not from the cold. The dog wa
Chapter 10 WILLY WOKE UP SWEATING profusely, it was just a dream. A day dream. He must have fallen asleep on the armchair, it was so comfortable, quiet and cool. No wonder without warning sleep had crept in and he had fallen asleep. He stared at the time, it was a wall clock. It was already 2pm, he should go and get a beer or two perhaps, with something to eat. When he entered the bar, he was still thinking about the strange dream he had. What if the Succubus was still reaching out to grab his life away from him? — He was in the bar area now: “Leave me the hell alone you big ugly jerk!” A sudden scream brought Willy's mind back into the bar— It was the girl, the girl at the beach, who's dog was Rudolf. A laughing, bald muscular guy, wearing a sleeveless shirt with tattoos and a raspy voice had grabbed her the second time and forced her to sit on his lap the second time. This time she stood up,
Chapter 11AFTER the breakfast:Willy was back in the privacy of his own room, he had convinced Lillian not to accompany him, but to stay back; It was probably going to be too dangerous, but the main reason why he did not want Lillian to go with him was because he did not want Lillian to find out who he really was, at least not now; Besides, she would only get in the way.‘Andy?’ Willy enquired by thought. In response a tiny horizontal round portal appeared, the size of the mouth of a cup.Willy dropped the single strand of Lillian’s hair into it and it disappeared, now he would wait. He would wait for Andy to Analyse the DNA contained within Lillian's hair, to trace and locate the next person with a closely resembling DNA signature– and that would be Eureka.Willy had also asked Andy to keep a close tab on Lillian when he was gone.
Chapter 12LILLIAN HAD CHECKED the time, it was now 11 am, probably the man Willy had already departed to go look for her sister. Why did he not want her to go with him? He always referred to her as– ‘kid’;“Hell– I'm already 17,” Lillian muttered to herself. Rudolf jumped down the bed and wagged his tail:“Rudolf– What do you think we should do after lunch? Should we go on a stroll on the beach?” Rudolf waged his tail again and gave a bored yawn. She laughed softly and went over and began tickling Rudolf’s white spotted tummy, Rudolf rolled over on his back and waged his front paws in the air, then he pretended to attack her hands with soft playful nips.“Oh— my baby, mummy's baby,” Lillian said hugging Rudolf and pressing the side of her face against Rudolf’s face, Rudolf started licking the side of her face and he now reached
