By the time I woke up, I was told that I had been out for more than forty eight hours. This time, I was much calmer and back to my old self even though I was still remembering all the memories I just recovered.

“Are you feeling pain anywhere? Do you need attention in any part of your body?” my doctor asked over and over in order to make sure that I was indeed fine

I nodded with a faint smile and responded “Don’t worry, I can always call the button if I am in need of you” and he agreed

“Don’t stress yourself for the time being and just rest. The IV will run for more days so you will be hospitalized till then. I hope you bear with us for those times” he said with care and I was touched by his gentleness

“I know it’s not easy to stay in bed” he added with a bright smile which I returned

I shrugged and also said “I just have to get used to it. It will be over soon after all” and we bumped knuckles before he left my ward.

I kept thinking about what could have happened that day but nothing

Even though I wasn’t supposed to visit the orphanage at that moment, I had to visit the orphanage the next day. Immediately I sighted Pureza, I ran over to check his shoulder to see if there was no new spots that were different from the ones he had before I left the last time.“Aunty” he called out slowly with a cute voice and my mouth hung open in surprise. That was the first time ever he opened his mouth to say a word ever since I had been visiting him. He preferred silent gestures and expressions that I would understand instead of talking and seeing how he called my name, I was almost moved to tears.Trying to control my emotions, “Oh baby, how are you doing?” I said back at him and he responded with a cute smile lurking on his lips“I am fine” I patted his shoulders after pulling his cheeks slightly and said “You are now a grown cutie. Let’s talk more from now on” He nodded in response and we both walked back to the open field where I spread out all the delicacies I brought for

Madam Antonio took hold of what Monica said about her hearing that Laura owns Elite painting that she was digging into when she saw her picture.“I heard they are an upcoming company but if they could snag a contract with such a company then they have a powerful backing. It all makes sense now if Laura is truly the owner of the company” Madam Antonio thought aloud to herself as she paced to and fro the balcony before her aide arrived“You asked for me ma’am” the man said to call her attention and she halted.Turning to him, she closed the distance and kept her voice low. “Look into Elite painting, look for something that might prove the link between Laura and the company” she instructedWith a bow, he responded “I will do that with immediate effect” and walked away to carry out the task“You better not be the one behind all these mess. If not, I will show you how vicious a woman can be because of her child” she muttered, her eyes brimming with anger.Few hours after, her aide came bac

I thought hard and long about where to start looking for the truth because I couldn’t just sit down and rely on the memories that I wasn’t sure was even accurate. Since my mother adopted me or probably found me somewhere, she would surely be the starting point of where I have to follow in order to retrace my step.I met her coming back from the supermarket and was about entering the house when I got there. Judging from her expression, she was shocked to see me suddenly show up in front of her house because I have never been there.“Do you have some time to spare?” I blurted out“Sure, come in” she responded and opened the door for me. We both walked into the house and I took my time to look around. It was a bit better than my father’s house and nothing special was going on except the necessities that were needed in the house. One strange thing was that I couldn’t find any picture of the both of them among the picture frames that were hung, instead they were individual pictures.I was

“I want you tonight” I muttered and clung to him the more.My mind was extremely blank and I didn’t even know what to do but seeing how I came straight to him for comfort, he was the best option I needed that night.“I am here baby, for as long as you want” he assured me and wrapped his hand around me tighter to pull me to himI raised my head to look into his eyes and the silence in the room raised the tension between us. I couldn’t stop staring at him and he didn’t avoid my gaze too. With a leapt of my feet, I pressed my lips against his and slowly closed my eyes to enjoy the moment. He didn’t dull me out and parted his lips to give me access, the kiss started sensually before the intensity gradually was raised and within the span of minutes, we were raving each other’s mouth hungrily. We kissed our way to the sofa and he gently laid me down without disconnecting our locked lips, he was kissing every corner of my mouth and taking the lead steadily. I didn’t open my mouth and just fo

We went ahead to pick up the twins at the airport and I realized that they were the same set of people that rescued me the other night after I solved the case of the abusive husband.“Wow! They were the ones the other day” I exclaimed and they both smiled at the same time before they extended their hands for a greeting and shake“Thank you for taking care of me” I remarked and they touched their chests with their fists before responding “We were only doing our job” Stanley walked up to us after clearing some things with Ray and asked how their flight went.“C’était tout à fait correct. Je déteste les vols mais n’importe quoi pour toi (It was quite okay. I hate flights but anything for you)” Gabriel remarked, his nose raised up in a scrunch“Le mien était amusant, je veux le faire souvent (Mine was fun, I want to do this often)” Michael commented and that earned him a shot from Gabriel but he didn’t let that get to you“Je suis désolé de t’avoir traîné jusqu’ici mais c’est mieux qu’on

MONICA’S POVI spent two good days in the police’s detention before Marcus could come for me. He was away on a business trip to another country and immediately he heard of my predicament from his secretary, he took the next available flight back to Lisbon without hesitation.“You have now been granted a bail but note that the rules attached are that you cannot leave the country without permission until your case has been sorted out. You are to respond to every summons as swift as possible. Failure to abide by all these rules will make you qualified for immediate arrest without a warrant so make sure to keep to them” the police officer listed to me as he brought me the bail form where I was in the detention room“I know all that. You don’t need to spit all over me so pass me the paper” I spat out and reached for the form“You can sign here” the police officer said, ignoring what I had said to him“Who came for me? The lawyers?” I asked as I signed the form and Marcus came into the room

Ray finally proposed to Mei who agreed right away and they planned to leave Lisbon but she couldn’t due to the contract she had signed with Pamela. She didn’t know that she wouldn’t be able to break off the contract for three years. Pamela did that because she knew the price of their stocks would be affected when her father’s crime is exposed but with the success of Mei in the modelling world, she would be able to sustain the company over the three years when it would be balanced and would let her go.“That’s some crazy contract” Ray remarked and tried looking for a way to pay the fine so she would be free but Mei told him that she wanted to help her in return because she gave up her company to help them solve the case so he had no choice but to retreat.Pamela explained that she can go anywhere she wanted but must be always available to carry out her the terms of the contract whenever she was needed.“That is no problem. You only got to show the work you have prepared hard for, so you deserve every credit” she told her and Mei appreciated her for the gift before leaving for the house where she saw Stanley waiting for herStanley took her to his villa after apologizing for not coming sooner to explain things to her. He told her everything about her sister to her when he found out that she also know that her sister was not biologically related to her.“Can I speak to her? Can I talk to her on the phone? In horror, I jumped under the blanket, my eyes shining hard as I questioned why he would come inside without knocking but he only apologized and came in further.“I found it!” he screamed and my face frowned in confusion, what was he talking about all of a sudden? My pressurized brain couldn’t process anything. I just wanted him to get out of my room so I can take my bath before heat strangle me under the blanket.“Found what?” I snapped angrily at him“The evidence!” he screamed and I didn’t know when I rolled out of the sheet, the robe dropping off my body“Cover your damn body!” he screamed, covered his eyes and turned away.It was then I realized that I was standing in front of him in my birthday suit. Since Petals was not in a good state of mind and would be away for the time being, they were short of hand and Ray suggested that they bring in Tolu as a helping hand since she was capable and already told them to let her know when her help was needed.“She’s also good at sniffing out information” Stanley added“I know right. She had this detective spirit ever since we were little” Ray remarked, a slight chuckle dancing in his throatAs soon as Petals’ plane took off, he went to the arrivals and waited a bit before Tolu that he had been waiting for showed up. She was the first to sight him and waved towards his direction to get his attention.“Thank you for coming all the way here and I am sorry for the inconveniences it might have caused” he said with a grin and a smile appeared on her lips“What do you mean by inconveniences? It took a whole week for Gemma to come to her senses. She always cowered in fear whenever anyone came close to her, even to the point of food. They had to leave her food on the table and disappear from the surroundings before she could eat peacefully.“I shouldn’t have shouted at her and startled her that way” Petals kept blaming herself and hoped that she would come back to her senses soon because she almost died of the curiosity of how Jane was not the sibling she thought she had.During those times, Stanley had successfully gotten her a temporary guidance permit for Pureza and she was able to transfer him out of the hospital to the place she trusted so he could get the ultimate and proper treatment he deserved.“Just take it slow. They were all at home in the evening when a news of a body being found near the burnt orphanage and the guess was that the body must have belonged to one of the children in the orphanage because it was the built of a child. They also stated that some of the organs were missing which gave room for the suspicions of organ trafficking.Stanley rushed up immediately and ran inside one of the rooms where he kept the pictures. Since she was also curious and he wouldn’t come out to tell them why he ran inside, she rushed to the room too to check what was happening.“Did something happen? Did you find out about something?” she asked, staring at her“The news reminded me of a case I found out while I was making some research. There was a time when the case of organ trafficking was so rampant and they were kids. Their corpses were found at different locations but they had one thing in common and that was missing organs” he explained, flipping through the old newspaper in his hand“So do you thi

Did he perhaps lost it?” Stanley asked on their way to the police station“I’m not sure he did that and I don’t know why he’s so adamant. It’s tiring” Gabriel sighed“He might have his reasons. He wouldn’t just act without a plan” Petals chipped inNo matter what anyone said, Michael kept denying that he had a passport. He said he was an illegal immigrant and there was nothing Stanley could do at that point. MONICA’S POVTruth be told, I had forgotten all about the beach house, maybe because it reminded me of my mom so much and I didn’t want to wallow in the pain longer. I stopped going to her room, I had everything connected to her packed off from my reach and just let her lived in my heart instead. She was always insisting that I know how to take care of myself because of a situation where she would not be around but I didn’t get all she was saying until she finally passed away.“I don’t know if I’m strong enough to face this” I mumbled as I puffed out the pent up air in my lungs.Immediately I got there, I ran inside as if she was there waiting for me in person and I didn’t come to my senses until disappointment coupled with reality slapped me in the face.“What was I thinking? She was attended to immediately and several drugs and injections were administered to her to keep her calm.“What’s wrong with her? Is she getting worse? Should we be concerned?” Monica asked, her eyes getting damped with tears“She upgraded her treatment today so her system has not gotten used to this kind of treatment.
