Skyler’s POV
The gentle heat of the sunlight streaming from the window makes my head hurt or is it the hangover? I try rolling away from the light but the weight of something warm pressing my back and the firm arms around me stops me and makes my eyes fly open. My mind and heart begin to race as I try remembering how I got here and where I am? Looking around the room I can’t recognize anything. My eyes slowly roam from the bedside table to the glass door and the rest of the room. I try sitting up but the arms around me squeezes a bit tighter, followed by a low protesting groan. I struggle against the arm trying to sit up, after a few attempts I’m able to pull away from the arm and I move my legs down to the edge of the bed. When I turn to look at the person laying beside me, it’s the blonde guy from last night. I don’t even need to look underneath the covers to know that I’m naked. I hold back the urge to scream and cry, I don’t even remember how I ended up here or what happened last night. I decided to look for my clothes instead of dwelling on those thoughts. I noticed my dress, underwear and mask scattered on the couch and bedside lamp. All I remember was being at a loud party, then I was looking into green eyes and that was it. Trying as hard as I can I push my jumbled thoughts to the back of my mind, I will figure it out later, I put on my dress and mask just in case someone sees me or Blondie wakes up. I need to get out of here, picking my purse, I check and my phone is in here but the battery is really low, I shove it back in, pick up my shoes and tiptoe to the door. When I’m about to open the door the blonde guy moves and groans again, I rush out not wanting to deal with him right now or ever. There’s nobody around and the house keeps giving me this creepy vibe like I’m being watched. On instinct I’m able to find my way out. The place is surrounded by trees and there are houses down the road. I start walking to my left, since the road on my right, leads to a close—which Freya says to me. She can be helpful sometimes and I’m glad she’s not totally silent right now. After a while of walking, turning and checking my location (along with Freya’s directions) I finally reach the border between Bloodhound pack and my pack. I so badly want to stop and rest but I can’t, even with the pain between my legs—good thing I’m used to pain. I really hope Scarlet makes up an excuse for me, I already feel horrible, the last thing I want is to feel more pain. Hold on, I didn’t come to this place by myself, where is Lily? As if on cue, my phone rings and it’s Scarlet. The sight of her name makes me want to cry. “Hey, Lettie.” I quietly wait for her to scream at me but she doesn’t. “Sky, where are you? I’ve been worried sick.” Before I could say anything, she told me, “You know what? Don’t worry, send me your location and I will be there to pick you up. I love you, okay?” I respond with a weak “I love you too,” before she hangs up. I share my location with her and as promised she shows up within a short period of time to pick me up. We drove home in silence but I could feel her turning to look at me, maybe to make sure I didn't jump out of the car to run for the hills. On a good day, that kind of thought would make me laugh but not today and somehow that saddens me further. “What did you tell, Dad?” I ask looking out the window. “I didn’t need to tell him anything, he went for some Alphas meeting today and he even cancelled training too.” She says still focusing on the road. “Really?” I ask, looking at her. “Yeah, he didn’t say what it’s about though but I think it’s about some kind of truce and collaboration between all the packs.” She shrugged. “What? Since when did packs start trusting each other, talk more of collaborating? They are always trying to subdue and conquer other packs. It just doesn’t seem right.” I say before sighing and massage my head and eyes to reduce the pain—I am never drinking again. “Well, we just…have to let dad figure it out. He is the Alpha after all, so he knows what he’s doing.” She says while turning into the garage. “Thank you so much, Lettie. I owe you a lot.” I say while taking deep breaths to avoid crying hysterically. “Hey, you don’t owe me anything. You’re my baby sister and I will always, I repeat always take care of you. Now come here.” She says unbuckling her seatbelt to hug me over the console. “You’re older than me by just seven minutes.” I reply. She rolls her eyes and says, “It doesn’t matter, now come here.” Without wasting time I hugged her. The comforting hug makes me remember last night and how alone I was. The realization of the fact that I had a lot of firsts last night without being aware of some of them, hits me like a ton of bricks and uncontrollable tears begin to stream down my face. Scarlet must have felt my tears on her shoulder or my not so subtle sniffles because she pulls back alarmed and cups my face while asking me, “Sky, what’s wrong? What happened to you at that party?” With so much concern on her face. I couldn’t find the words to explain what happened last night to her because I didn’t even understand it—how ironic. I just shake my head signifying ‘no’ hoping she will understand. “Come on, let’s go inside. You need a hot bath with lots of bubbles. We’ll talk about whatever it is later, okay?” She says attempting a reassuring smile. I nod in response. After an hour long hot bubble bath and a light breakfast, I’m finally able to recount the events of last night without bursting into tears. From my first cringing while telling the bathroom incident, Scarlet just held me until I finished the story. When I’m done, the first thing she says is, “So you don’t remember what happened after you left the bathroom with Blondie?” I respond with a negative shake of my head. “Did you notice any used condoms or anything?” She asks again. “No I didn’t. I just wanted to get out of there.” I say frowning. “Alright, we will deal with things one at a time. I’ll get you a strong contraceptive and a post exposure pill. You can’t go for the shots because it will spark unnecessary attention and we do not want Dad finding out about any of this. The last thing we need is any form of little surprises popping up.” She says standing up from my bed. “Now I need you to rest though you’ve been through so much already. When I get the medicines you will take them immediately. It’s more effective if you take them early, so hopefully they will work—” She holds up her hand signaling me to not bother thanking her, when I was about to. “I love you so much, Sky.” she says tucking me in and kissing my hair. “I love you too. Thank you.” I say. She shuts the window blinds too before walking out. About thirty minutes later a phone ringtone wakes me up, I try ignoring it but the ringing starts again after some time. With a tired and frustrated sigh, I roll over to look for it. Finally finding the phone, it turns out to be Scarlet’s and it’s dad calling. It must be important for him to have called four times already. I decided to look for Scarlet instead of going back to bed. Checking her room first, she’s not there and the maid in the room said she should be at the pool or dad’s study. After a long walk, she’s not at Dad’s study, neither is she at the library (where we both love staying if we have free time), with no other option, I decide to check the pool. Approaching the pool door, a muffled noise drifts to me, which is strange. By the time I open the door, the sounds are clearer. Someone with a male voice is groaning, another voice which is feminine is also moaning and a clapping sound. “We need to be quick. I need to get this to—” Scarlet’s voice is interrupted by a husky deeper voice. “I know baby, almost there.” Obviously Scarlet is having sex but with who? The pool area is empty except for some clothes on the floor. To my surprise, Scarlet is in a very compromising position with a dark haired guy, they’re both facing away from me. Not wanting to witness this anymore, I turn around to walk back out so they can have their privacy. Then the unthinkable happens, a puddle of water makes me slip and fall right into the pool, alerting them. Oh no, it’s the deep area of the pool, I can’t swim and I’m scared of water. “What the f***, Skylar?!” The sound of Scarlet’s screaming and running towards me echoes off the walls of the pool room. “Give me your hand.” She says her right hand stretched to me. When our hands finally touch, she pulls me out of the water. The dark haired guy hands her a towel for me, which she wraps around my shoulders. Her phone starts ringing again and I hand it to her, luckily it’s water resistant. She answers dad and he sounds pissed. She explains to him that she was swimming and that was why she didn’t hear his call. He instructs her on some things she should do before hanging up. With a sigh of relief she looks at me, with an embarrassed expression on her face. “That was why I was looking for you. I should leave you guys alone.” I say looking back into the water. “No don’t, Stefan was just leaving.” She says looking at him with a side glance and a shy smile. Stefan was about putting on his shirt but paused midway. “Are you for real? I can’t believe this.” He says in disbelief. “Yes, please I’ll call you.” She says while hugging him and kissing his cheek. “Fine then, I love you.” He says with a smile. “I love you too, now go. Please be careful so no one sees you.” She says, shoving his shoulder playfully. “Yes, ma’am. See you around, Skylar.” He says with a two finger salute before strolling out the door. “So…Stefan, hmmm?” I say wiggling my brows at her. She tosses her shorts at me before covering her face. “Shut up, that was embarrassing enough.” “I’m not judging, just curious. When? How? Where? How long? So many questions but start with those.” I say laying down positioning the towel under my head instead. Before she can respond, the door opens again…Skylar’s POV ********Her nightmare begins ********** The pounding of my feet and the rush of blood in my ears are in sync with the thumping of my heart.
