Before they left, Morane also found some footwear for Kira; slippers, no matter the size, while Kira took deep breaths, wiping her tear-streaked face.

Her emotions were still raw, but she forced herself to focus, trying to compose herself.

"This is not the time to be weak," she chided herself as she and Morane walked quickly toward the mansion. "I need to be strong and stay strong."

As Kira spoke those words to herself, she rubbed her face a bit roughly as her mind kept replaying what had happened earlier in the bedroom.

Remembering she had not informed Ryker as Aiden had told her too, she quickly connected to him using the pack link. She was not sure why Aiden told her to do these things, but she knew she had to do them either way.

She reached out to Ryker through the pack link, the feeling like a thread stretching between her mind and his as she called out, "Ryker," her voice urgent but strong. "Something is wrong with Bryan and Aiden. I need you to come to the mansion now. And come quietly. Don't alert the others."

"I will be right there!" Ryker responded, and the connection went dark.

The mansion door, still ajar from Kira having pushed it open earlier in her panic, stood open and from the doorway, Kira and Morane could hear shouts and crashes. They could also hear Bryan and Aiden's voices, which were filled with anger, echoing through the building.

"WHERE IS SHE?!" Bryan's voice ripped through the air followed by Aiden's growl that could almost shake the very walls of the house, and it made Kira's heart sink. "I SAID, WHERE IS SHE?!"

Kira hesitated to go inside, her pulse racing. The thought of them looking for her, not the usual way they do but in a way that seemed like they were out for her blood, scared her, and she didn't want to have thoughts like that or think that they would ever want her dead.

But Morane, Morane was already walking inside and Kira chided herself again before stepping inside.

As she and Morane stepped inside, her breath caught at the sight of destruction. Chairs were overturned, tables broken, vases scattered around, shards of glass everywhere on the floor, and both men were just pacing, growling and shouting, their eyes dark and wild.

Kira spotted Orion and Elara not too close to where her mates stood as they tried to calm their sons, but she could see that their efforts seemed futile.

Bryan and Aiden did not look like themselves at all. Their usual calm, controlled faces were not there and even when they did get angry, it was never like this.

"This…this is different," Kira muttered to herself as she watched them with mixed emotions. She felt a flicker of fear, but it was quickly replaced by confusion.

"What is wrong with them?" She thought, staying glued to where she stood. She really wanted to reach out to them and see if maybe she could calm them down herself, but they didn't look like her mates, and she had tried that before with Aiden and still, it did not work. "Why are they like this?" She asked herself, clenching her hands into fists.

Then all of a sudden, Bryan and Aiden's movements stopped abruptly. They both sniffed the air like wolves on the hunt, and soon their heads snapped in Kira's direction as they caught her scent.

They were so consumed by their anger that they hadn't caught it earlier. Now that they did, they kept their gazes locked on her.

Kira stood her ground as their gazes pinned her in place. The look in their eyes made her chest tighten, but she didn't let it show on her face. She felt like she needed to be strong to handle this situation, no matter how many emotions she was feeling at once, which indeed confused her.

And as she did just that and looked back at them, Bryan took a step forward, snarling. Aiden followed, too, growling low and deep.

Their expressions were unrecognizable, wild, and the raw hunger in their eyes made Kira's breath catch.

"Morane?" Kira called out, still keeping her gaze locked on her mates. "Do you have a plan?"

"I do," Morane answered and stepped in front of Kira. She had been quiet all along because she was studying the situation. It was also the first time she had seen them this way, and she needed to be sure on how to act on it. "Kira, get Ryker here—now!"

"I already did," Kira said quickly. "He should be here soon."

Almost as if summoned by her words, Ryker appeared at the door, walking up to Kira. "What is going on?" He asked as his eyes landed on both Kira and Morane before his gaze shifted from them to the advancing brothers.

Then, it dawned on him.

"Kira, you need to leave," Ryker said, his voice calm but firm.

"Leave? But why?" Kira demanded and for the first time since she locked her gaze on her mates, she broke it and turned to look at Ryker. "I need to be here. We need to figure out what is wrong with my mates."

"And we will," Ryker said, placing a hand on her shoulder to reassure her. "It is for your safety. Trust me—we will handle it. They will be fine, Kira, but they cannot see you right now."

"But…" Kira hesitated, her heart twisting.

"Fine," she whispered, turning toward the door.

Stepping outside, she closed the door and exhaled slowly. She didn't want anyone to witness what was happening and was relieved when she glanced around and no one was there.

She was sure the maids had left and was glad that there were no guards standing at the door tonight. "Besides, everyone would probably be tired after the celebration we had earlier," she thought, rubbing her face in worry. "Please, Moon Goddess, let them be fine."

Back inside, Morane's voice filled the room, her hands spread wide at her sides as she chanted. "Volatris dorsae, somtris clanari!"

Her words were charged with power, low and resonant as they left her mouth.

Bryan and Aiden faltered, their steps slowing. Their growls deepened as they tried to move, wanting to get Kira, but with Morane chanting, it gave them no chance.

Their heads twisted unnaturally as they tried to resist the pull of her magic, but the harder they tried, the harder it was for Morane, and Morane knew very well what was happening.

The curse was in full control.

Morane never stopped chanting, her voice rising as the darkness inside of them kept fighting back. "Ryker!" She shouted, stopping her chant for a second as she quickly gave him instructions. "Go to the hidden room! You know which one. Bring the injection and the liquid—fast."Ryker nodded and darted out of the room without hesitation, while Morane resumed her chanting, holding her ground. "Volatris dorsae, somtris clanari."Down the passage, Ryker went quickly, his jaw clenching as he located the hidden room. He knew everything about the curse— the twins had told him how they had almost choked Kira to death that day and with this knowledge, Ryker was on high alert, knowing exactly what he had to do.Without hesitation, he pushed the door open and walked in. The door was not locked, and it was that way in case of situations like this where there would be no time for unlocking it.The air inside was colder and carried the faint scents of herbs and chemicals. One week since she had last seen them and one week since the anger in her kept increasing.Kira was currently in the Pack's hospital, dressed in a simple yet elegant outfit as she walked through the hallway. Despite her anger at her mates, she did what she had to do. She stopped by one of the rooms, smiling softly as she wanted to check on a pregnant woman she knew. The woman had been having some complications with her pregnancy and had to come to the hospital to be checked. Now she was resting on one of the beds, and Kira walked up to her, her hand resting lightly on the woman's shoulder. "How are you feeling today?" she asked soothingly, still smiling at the woman."Luna," the woman smiled up at Kira, "I am fine, feeling much better. You always check up on me, I am grateful.""There's no need for that. I am just happy that you are feeling much better. And make sure to get plenty of rest and avoid stress.

She looked at him for a moment, then her gaze shifted to Aiden, unsure whether to remain angry at them or let it go… a little.Meanwhile, Bryan smiled softly, his hand coming up to rub her cheek affectionately."Why don't we talk upstairs, hm?" He asked her gently, his thumb brushing her skin with care. "Please," he said, his voice soft and coaxing as he tried to ease the tension and make her not to be too angry at them.Kira hesitated for a moment, then sighed and nodded. "Fine," she muttered, but she didn't smile. She just turned and walked out, heading to the room without waiting for them to follow.Watching her leave, Bryan and Aiden looked at each other briefly before following her. As they reached the bedroom, Kira pushed the door open and stepped inside. She made her way to the center of the room without glancing at them and instead of sitting on the bed, she sat on the flo

Aiden told Kira everything they knew about the curse, including how Ryker's trip was to find out questions or answers, anything at all that could help them and also how Morane had almost died trying to break the curse. Kira listened attentively, not once stopping him, and only spoke when he was finally done talking."Is this what happened that day? I mean the day you choked me when you both brought me back to the pack," Kira asked. It was not her intention to make them feel bad because it already seemed like they did, but she just needed to know."Yes," Aiden answered truthfully. "That is what happened, but we were still fighting for control. But this time around, this recent one, we lost control. You know, at first when we were eighteen, we didn't feel it.""Feel what?" Kira asked, wanting to know more."We didn't feel the darkness. But after Morane found out and after sometime, we started feeling like something was in us," Aiden explained. "It's difficult to explain, but it was li

The room felt too impersonal, too functional. It felt like a cell to her. Her eyes scanned the room, and then she noticed the shelf on one side.On the shelf, she saw small bottles filled with liquids. The contents themselves looked quite strange as she picked it up carefully and asked, "What is this?""Morane made that for us," Bryan explained as he stepped closer, watching her calm expression to everything. "It is meant to help us for the curse. She is also the one who told us to prepare a room like this when she first found out about the curse. She wanted us to be prepared just in case, because she had a very bad feeling about everything.""I see," Kira nodded, turning the bottle in h

As instructed, they all remained seated and waited patiently for her. No one said anything, and surprisingly, the silence wasn't empty. It didn't have any tension; it was comfortable, but still had the feel of emotions that weren't spoken. Along with that, Kira sat still, maybe not too still as she kept tapping her feet on the ground and her fingers lightly on her knee while glancing around and often stealing glances at Bryan and Aiden, who would also look at her from time to time and wink, even though they were all seated on one couch. And then, footsteps. It was soft but firm, quick yet steady in approach.Elara walked back into the room holding books and pens. Aiden shook his head softly at his mother and sighed, "We were not pretending to be happy. We were genuinely happy.""Yeah," Bryan and Kira murmured, concurring with what Aiden had said."That is what I don't understand," Elara said to them, the confused expression still etched on her face. "How can you be happy? This is very sad news. Extremely sad, and even I, myself, am still trying to wrap my head around the whole situation. So, how?""Mum, I understand you completely," Kira said. "I also cried, then we cuddled and then at dinner everyone was together again. Even my emotions right now are inconsistent because I don't know if I should cry, be sad, be happy or think about it, as we have been given a specific time to be together and so cuddling with them, talking and laughing at dinner helped me realize that it was better to be happy and just forget about the sad stuff for the moment. Dinner was great as always—the laughing, the conversation, the playful banter, everything. It was no surprise that manners were forgotten at the dining table, hence the talking while eating, and now everyone was relaxed and chatting as they were all done eating."Dad, Aiden and Bryan are just… they just won't stop messing with me," Kira complained to Orion, gesturing to Aiden and Bryan, who were grinning at first but immediately kept their faces serious when she complained about them."What now?" Orion asked Kira after looking over at his twins. "What are they doing this time?""Nothing," Bryan answered before Kira could. "We are literally not doing anything to her except keeping her on her toes. She can't even stay still on those toes, you know. We are simply just having fun, father.""Exactly," Aiden said and nodded in agreement. "We are not doing anything to her.""Seriously?" Kira asked them, although she hid her smile and feigned annoyance, just so Orion could side with her."So

She was sad, exhausted and emotionally drained. She knew they would do anything for her, yet those words, "We can't ask you to wait for us," lingered, and it pained her so much. It pained her that there was nothing much she could do but leave. Staying might destroy them even more than leaving. And Kira knew that. She let out a shaky breath as Bryan rubbed her back and whispered sweet, soft words to her, her weight pressing into him as she could no longer really hold herself up. "It's okay," Bryan murmured, his chin resting lightly on the top of her head while he continued rubbing her back in slow, comforting circles. "We are here.
