It's been one week.
One week since Kira found out that her mates were cursed. One week since she had last seen them and one week since the anger in her kept increasing. Kira was currently in the Pack's hospital, dressed in a simple yet elegant outfit as she walked through the hallway. Despite her anger at her mates, she did what she had to do. She stopped by one of the rooms, smiling softly as she wanted to check on a pregnant woman she knew. The woman had been having some complications with her pregnancy and had to come to the hospital to be checked. Now she was resting on one of the beds, and Kira walked up to her, her hand resting lightly on the woman's shoulder. "How are you feeling today?" she asked soothingly, still smiling at the woman. "Luna," the woman smiled up at Kira, "I am fine, feeling much better. You always check up on me, I am grateful." "There's no need for that. I am just happy that you are feeling much better. And make sure to get plenty of rest and avoid stress. Okay?" Kira said gently to the woman, who nodded in response. "Good," Kira muttered, rubbing the woman's shoulder softly before turning to a nurse who was also in the room. "Do we have everything we need? How are the supplies in each ward? Are we fully stocked?" "Yes, Luna," the nurse answered, "But can I please check again? Just to be sure. I don't want to make mistakes." "Of course," Kira chuckled, noticing the nurse was a bit nervous. "When you do check again, just let me know. You can bring it to me or have someone do it." "Yes, Luna. Thank you!" "Very well then," Kira said to both the nurse and the pregnant woman before leaving the room. "Luna Kira, Luna." Kira heard someone call out to her as she walked through the hallway. She stopped and turned, watching as a different nurse approached her. "Yes?" "Luna," the nurse began, "Beta Ryker is waiting for you outside. He said it's important." "Thank you," Kira said, giving the nurse a short nod. Wondering what Ryker had come to see her for, she made her way to the hospital entrance. Ryker stood just outside the entrance, patiently waiting for Kira. His eyes met hers as soon as she stepped out. "They are in the living room," he said simply. Kira's heart sank. She knew exactly what and who he meant. Her jaw tightened, and without saying anything, she began walking back home. "Kira, I know you are upset…" Ryker started cautiously as he followed her closely behind. "I know you want to save your best friends," Kira interrupted him sharply. "But that is not happening." "Smh," Ryker sighed, his steps slowing slightly. "I told them about this, about keeping her in the dark, but did they listen? No they didn't," he said to himself inwardly as he could feel her anger. By the time they reached the mansion, he stopped, rubbing the back of his neck. "You three should just please sort it out and if you still need me to hold them down for you to punish them, I'm only a link away," he muttered before turning to leave. Taking a deep breath after Ryker left, Kira went inside. Ryker had informed her earlier that they were in the living room, and so she went straight into the living room. Her eyes immediately found her mates, standing at the far end of the spacious living room, and she could not believe her eyes. There they were… looking so innocent or maybe not. They also looked tense and for Kira, that was good. They should be tense. She stopped at the doorway, watching their faces. She saw the mix of regret and unease as their eyes met hers. For like five minutes, no one said anything. The tension in the room was suffocating as her gaze bore into them. If Kira could shoot bullets with her eyes, Bryan and Aiden would be long gone by now. "Kira," Aiden started, his voice soft but strained. He turned and looked at his brother, not sure of what to say. Their eyes were filled with guilt and Bryan stepped forward slightly, wanting to say something, but the words didn't come. Kira's patience had already worn thin since a week ago and before either of them could speak further, she walked up to them. Her steps were fast, and her expression was unreadable as she approached and slapped Bryan hard across the face. Aiden barely had time to react before she turned to him and slapped him just as hard. Both men's eyes widened in shock, but those wide eyes were still on Kira. "For how long? How long were you both going to keep this away from me?" Kira demanded, her voice trembling with anger and hurt. Her chest rose and fell rapidly as tears threatened to spill from her eyes. "Tell me!" But Bryan didn't say a word. He just stepped forward and gently pulled her into his arms, embracing her tightly. "What are you doing?" Kira asked angrily as she immediately stiffened. "Let go," she warned, her hands coming up to push against his chest. But he didn't. "Let go of me," she hissed as she tried to twist out of his grip and push him away. "Bryan, let me go!" "No," Bryan said softly. "Not until you know how sorry I am." He held her tighter, his arms wrapping around her smaller frame as she struggled. "I'm sorry, love," he murmured against her skin, pressing a light kiss to her forehead. "I'm so sorry." "Sorry?" She scoffed, but still kept pushing at him in frustration. "You kept it away from me and I had to find out that way? Everyone else knew except me. I was worried, scared because my mates were acting so… so different, and you think sorry will make up for this?" "Just stop it! You don't get to—" she began, but was cut off when she felt his lips press another kiss to her temple. "Kira please, baby, I'm sorry," he whispered again. He continued holding her, pecking her forehead again and again. "I'm sorry. Please, forgive us." Kira's struggles slowed, and she let out a shaky breath, her hands just resting on his chest. She didn't try to push him away anymore, but a single tear escaped. "You should have told me," she sniffed. "I know," Bryan said softly, rubbing her hair. "I am still angry," she muttered, but didn't pull away. "I know love," Bryan said, pecking her forehead and hugging her more. "And you have every right to be." Kira allowed herself to lean into his chest as she sniffled some more. "You don't know anything," she told him. "I don't," he agreed with her, smiling softly as he rubbed her back. "Just hear us out, please."Kira took a deep breath as she pulled back from Bryan's embrace, her hands falling limply to her sides. She looked at him for a moment, then her gaze shifted to Aiden, unsure whether to remain angry at them or let it go… a little.Meanwhile, Bryan smiled softly, his hand coming up to rub her cheek affectionately."Why don't we talk upstairs, hm?" He asked her gently, his thumb brushing her skin with care. "Please," he said, his voice soft and coaxing as he tried to ease the tension and make her not to be too angry at them.Kira hesitated for a moment, then sighed and nodded. "Fine," she muttered, but she didn't smile. She just turned and walked out, heading to the room without waiting for them to follow.Watching her leave, Bryan and Aiden looked at each other briefly before following her. As they reached the bedroom, Kira pushed the door open and stepped inside. She made her way to the center of the room without glancing at them and instead of sitting on the bed, she sat on the flo
Aiden told Kira everything they knew about the curse, including how Ryker's trip was to find out questions or answers, anything at all that could help them and also how Morane had almost died trying to break the curse. Kira listened attentively, not once stopping him, and only spoke when he was finally done talking."Is this what happened that day? I mean the day you choked me when you both brought me back to the pack," Kira asked. It was not her intention to make them feel bad because it already seemed like they did, but she just needed to know."Yes," Aiden answered truthfully. "That is what happened, but we were still fighting for control. But this time around, this recent one, we lost control. You know, at first when we were eighteen, we didn't feel it.""Feel what?" Kira asked, wanting to know more."We didn't feel the darkness. But after Morane found out and after sometime, we started feeling like something was in us," Aiden explained. "It's difficult to explain, but it was li
Bryan and Aiden agreed without hesitation, and Kira followed them out of the room, down the passage until they stopped in front of the hidden room door.Aiden pushed it open and stepped aside so she could enter first. As Kira entered, she looked around, and it was definitely not what she had expected. The room felt too impersonal, too functional. It felt like a cell to her. Her eyes scanned the room, and then she noticed the shelf on one side.On the shelf, she saw small bottles filled with liquids. The contents themselves looked quite strange as she picked it up carefully and asked, "What is this?""Morane made that for us," Bryan explained as he stepped closer, watching her calm expression to everything. "It is meant to help us for the curse. She is also the one who told us to prepare a room like this when she first found out about the curse. She wanted us to be prepared just in case, because she had a very bad feeling about everything.""I see," Kira nodded, turning the bottle in h
Bryan, Aiden, and Kira immediately rose from their seats, shocked by what they had just heard. They exchanged quick glances as each of them waited to hear what Morane would say next."What is it?" Aiden asked, stepping forward slightly. "What is the curse?""This is not a matter to be discussed here," Morane said with a shake of her head. "Please, come with me.""That is true," Aiden said, nodding in agreement. "Alright, let's go."At that moment, the maid Kira had instructed earlier came out of the kitchen, carrying the reheated dishes on a tray. "Alphas, Luna," the maid called out as she began placing them on the table. "Are you going somewhere? The food is ready.""About the food," Kira said. "Just put it back for now. We will eat later.""Okay, Luna," the maid replied and nodded obediently. Then, the maid gathered the dishes back on the tray and returned to the kitchen.Morane, who was about to leave, stopped when the maid called out to the Alphas and Kira. And when Kira was done
Aiden raked a hand through his hair, the hopelessness of the situation frustrating the life out of him. "I don't understand," he said to Morane, the frustration in his tone fully on display. "There has to be another way! What do you mean, we have to stop being mates?""Look, I am not angry with you. You have done a lot for us, and we are genuinely grateful, but this…this was the last thing I expected to hear. I never even expected to ever hear such," he said as he leaned forward slightly and ran his hands over his face before gripping his hair in desperation. "This curse of a thing is just so exhausting.""I know, I understand," Morane said, raising her hands slightly. "But listen to me first. Please calm down," she said softly, fully understanding what the three of them were currently going through. "The curse can only be broken by the witch who cursed you or someone from her bloodline. Do you understand what that means? We do not even know who the witch is. Talk more about someone f
Stepping outside, Bryan leaned against the outer wall. He tilted his head back and closed his eyes, his chest heaving as he tried to calm himself and steady his breathing, but that was impossible. The ache in his heart refused to let up. He took deep breaths and exhaled shakily, his knuckles already white because of how tightly he balled his fists. After some minutes of inhaling and exhaling, he tightened and relaxed his fists, before he felt a hand on his shoulder.Bryan didn't need to check when he felt the hand on his shoulder; he just prepared himself, knowing what was coming, and he knew that whatever was coming was going to be for the best."You know what we have to do." Aiden's voice was low, controlled, and filled with the pain he didn't try to hide. He stepped closer, his hand still on Bryan's shoulder. "It will be for the best.""I know, Aiden," Bryan nodded, his throat tightening as his voice broke slightly. "I know. I just—" He stopped, closed his eyes and sucked in anot
Leaning into Bryan, Kira took slow, uneven breaths, trying to calm herself. She knew it wasn't their fault for making such a decision, but it didn't help with how she felt inside. She was sad, exhausted and emotionally drained. She knew they would do anything for her, yet those words, "We can't ask you to wait for us," lingered, and it pained her so much. It pained her that there was nothing much she could do but leave. Staying might destroy them even more than leaving. And Kira knew that. She let out a shaky breath as Bryan rubbed her back and whispered sweet, soft words to her, her weight pressing into him as she could no longer really hold herself up. "It's okay," Bryan murmured, his chin resting lightly on the top of her head while he continued rubbing her back in slow, comforting circles. "We are here. We got you."Hearing those words from him almost made her start crying again, but she held back and nodded against his chest, whispering, "I know, and I got you too."Bryan, also
Kira walked slightly ahead of her mates as they returned home together, her heart and mind full.Aiden was the first to take her hand, walking closer and slipping his hand under hers before curling his fingers around hers. His grip was gentle at first, and then he held her closer. As Kira felt his hold, she turned her head slightly, her brown eyes meeting his dark ones, and smiled softly at him before looking ahead again.Meanwhile, Bryan, watching them, walked closer. He decided to do the same as his brother and slid his fingers between Kira's, his hold warm. Kira smiled softly and turned to him, not surprised that he had followed Aiden, her eyes full of love.As they held her hands and walked back home, they didn't let go, and soon they reached the mansion. The house was quiet when they stepped inside, but they didn't stop. They walked up the stairs and entered their bedroom together, still holding hands. It was only when they reached the bed after shutting the door did they final
As instructed, they all remained seated and waited patiently for her. No one said anything, and surprisingly, the silence wasn't empty. It didn't have any tension; it was comfortable, but still had the feel of emotions that weren't spoken. Along with that, Kira sat still, maybe not too still as she kept tapping her feet on the ground and her fingers lightly on her knee while glancing around and often stealing glances at Bryan and Aiden, who would also look at her from time to time and wink, even though they were all seated on one couch. And then, footsteps. It was soft but firm, quick yet steady in approach.Elara walked back into the room holding books and pens. She moved quietly, her face not giving away anything as she walked toward them."Tear a sheet of paper and place it on your book when given to you," she said, giving all of them instructions as she stopped in front of Orion and gave him a book and a pen. Then, she turned and walked to where Bryan, Aiden, and Kira were seated
Aiden shook his head softly at his mother and sighed, "We were not pretending to be happy. We were genuinely happy.""Yeah," Bryan and Kira murmured, concurring with what Aiden had said."That is what I don't understand," Elara said to them, the confused expression still etched on her face. "How can you be happy? This is very sad news. Extremely sad, and even I, myself, am still trying to wrap my head around the whole situation. So, how?""Mum, I understand you completely," Kira said. "I also cried, then we cuddled and then at dinner everyone was together again. Even my emotions right now are inconsistent because I don't know if I should cry, be sad, be happy or think about it, as we have been given a specific time to be together and so cuddling with them, talking and laughing at dinner helped me realize that it was better to be happy and just forget about the sad stuff for the moment. Leaving you all is already sad for me; you have no idea. But staying… even if it is my last day here
Dinner was great as always—the laughing, the conversation, the playful banter, everything. It was no surprise that manners were forgotten at the dining table, hence the talking while eating, and now everyone was relaxed and chatting as they were all done eating."Dad, Aiden and Bryan are just… they just won't stop messing with me," Kira complained to Orion, gesturing to Aiden and Bryan, who were grinning at first but immediately kept their faces serious when she complained about them."What now?" Orion asked Kira after looking over at his twins. "What are they doing this time?""Nothing," Bryan answered before Kira could. "We are literally not doing anything to her except keeping her on her toes. She can't even stay still on those toes, you know. We are simply just having fun, father.""Exactly," Aiden said and nodded in agreement. "We are not doing anything to her.""Seriously?" Kira asked them, although she hid her smile and feigned annoyance, just so Orion could side with her."So
Kira's mouth dropped open. "You—!"But before she could even finish what she was about to say, Bryan, who was already close to her, leaned down and planted a quick peck on her cheek, making her eyes widen instantly. The audacity! Then, without giving her a chance to retaliate, he moved past her and took his seat at the dining table like nothing had happened.Laughing softly and shaking his head, Aiden stepped closer to Kira and stood beside her. "Bryan, I don't even know what to say to you," he muttered, while still laughing.Meanwhile, Elara and Orion looked at each other with amused expressions before turning their attention back to Kira."Well, at least he was honest about it." Orion said to Kira while chuckling, enjoying how his son teased her. "I'll get back at you, Bryan Tyrell," Kira threatened, narrowing her eyes at Bryan and crossing her arms. "Oh, I will!"Still laughing softly, Aiden leaned in and pressed a soft peck to the side of her head. "Don't mind him," he murmured a
Kira smiled warmly and raised her hand to Aiden's cheek. She caressed his cheeks, her smile growing wider, before she leaned in and gave him a soft peck on the lips. "Let's go," she whispered, her gaze not leaving his.Aiden nodded and smiled back as he started pulling away to stand; his heart warmed from her gentle affection and soft peck.As Kira sat up and got ready to get out of bed, she glanced around, noticing that Bryan wasn't in the room. "Where's Bryan?" She asked Aiden, her brows furrowed slightly. "Did he go somewhere?"Aiden opened his mouth to respond, but before he could speak, the bathroom door opened and Bryan walked out."I'm here," Bryan said in a casual, deep voice. "Missing me already?"Kira turned, a smile creeping up her face again. "Yes. As a matter of fact, I missed you so very much," she admitted as she got up and walked toward him before he could reach the bed.She stood close, Bryan looking at her with a playful smile and a raised eyebrow.
