Rory took me to a quarter in the palace.

"This is the Daughter's quarter" he said as we got there.

"What is this *Daughters* that you've been talking about?"

"The daughters are people with different gifts who came from planet earth" 

"So where are they?"

He opened a door and I found about 20 pupils sitting on a desk, meditating

"These are the Daughters, there are 29 of them and you're going to make them 30." Rory whispered.

"There are boys too?" I asked as I spotted some few boys."

"Yeah."

"And what are they called. The Sons?" I asked almost sarcastically.

He shook his head "Everyone with a special talent, whether male or female, is classified under the DAUGHTERS. Now, no more questions. Join them now, the Prince will be here in a short while for your lessons." He said and left.

I hesitated by the door, then I walked in and join them; The Daughters.

The girl who I was closed to has red hair and white skin, she looked strange. 

I wanted to ask her how come she looked so strange.

Before I could ask, she said "The red hair is a mark from the gods while my white skin comes from my mother. She's a goddess"

I opened my mouth in shock.

"How did you know what I was about saying?" I asked.

"My name is Kyra and I'm a mind-reader. That's my own gift and you?"

I stuttered "Amaya. I'm a foreseer.

"Wow, such nice gift you have. Prince Alec have been in need of a foreseer." 

My ears itch.

"Tell me!" I said "What did you know of Prince Alec?" I asked eagerly.

She flinched a little at the question. Then she said "He's handsome, he's quiet and kind, but I heard he's very dangerous when angry, so try not to anger him"

"He was my classmate" I said.

She gave me a look over. 

"You don't believe me Right?" 

She eyed me suspiciously and hummed something to herself.

I was about saying something when Alec...Prince Alec walked in.

"Good day Prince." We...They all chorused.

"Your tunic is nice" Says a girl with blue hair.

Alec smiled, "Thanks."

They all said something about him which he appreciated with a beam.

I watched how he smiled, the elegant stretching of lips, the glittering of white teeth. The dimples.

He knows all of them by their names. He chatted with them. He made joke and they laughed. They made joke and he laughed.

I think of him, in the classroom. How quiet and angry he always was.

Back then, he never talked. The only time he talked, his voice caused a disaster in the classroom.

But here, he speaks freely. His voice, smooth as his personality.

"Now, no jokes. It's time to learn." He said suddenly and everyone became quiet.

He taught about our gifts. The challenges we get in using them, he talked about how good it is to us and to the people around us.

When he was done, he asked if there was any questions.

I raised my hand without hesitation.

"Go ahead, Amaya"

"What gift do you possess" I asked him.

I noticed a flicker in his eyes. It was either shock or anger or both.

Then he frowned and stared pointedly at me.

"Why do you ask?"

"I was just curious" I said with a shrug. "I don't mind if you don't answer"

He nodded and I sat down. He didn't say a word again.

When he left, Kyra said to me "You've got some real guts. You dare not ask a Prince about his gifts."

I swallowed and said nothing.

"Why are you here?" Kyra asked me.

I furrowed "What do you mean?"

"I want to know how you came here. It is said that each of us once commits an offence on earth before coming here. What was your offense?"

I paused and pressed my two lips together in a grim expression.

Rory came immediately, "Amaya! The Prince sent for you" he said with his pure Greek accent.

Prince Alec was looking at his window when I came him. 

Just as before, his back was to me which made me wonder if it was a custom in this village for people to receive visitors with their back.

"You sent for me, Prince" I said.

He turned to face me and screamed loudly. Two long and sharp canine teeth protruded from his mouth.

"You wanted to know the gift I possess." He was walking towards me now. 

His mouth was thirsty for blood.

He's a vampire. I realized too late.

Rory came into the room unannounced "My Prince" he said.

Alec flinched backwards. His long teeth sank in immediately. He turned to Rory "What did you want"

"The king wants to see her" 

Prince Alec looked at me then waved at Rory "She'll be out in a minute"

Rory didn't move "The king says it's urgent. I need to take her now."

The Prince said in my ears "Speak to no one of what I tried doing" 

I stood up and followed Rory out. "Where you hurt?" Rory asked.

I shook my head.

"Why does the king send for me?" I asked.

"The king didn't send for you. I lied to the Prince."

"Why?" 

"If I didn't take you out, you would've been dead by now." He said and my heart skipped.
