CHAPTER 5

 HER BABIES FATHER IS HER BOSS?

On their way back from the hotel, Selena became withdrawn and drowned in her thoughts. She did not notice that all these while, Dora was at her.

Knowing today that the man she bore three kids for was a very powerful man, it was more than enough headache for her.

How can it be him? Of all men in their city, how could it be him?

 A part of her wanted to tell her children who wanted to know who their father was even though they would not speak out and another part wanted nothing to do with him.

Shouldn’t she be happy? After all, six years ago, when she had found out that she was pregnant and did not have any connections with her baby’s father, she went back to the bar in search of him but unfortunately, she did not find him.

Disappointed back then, she had given up because she wondered why a male model would be that scars after what happened but seeing this made her understand that he wasn’t even one of them but why he acted like one the other day was what she did not understand.

She had wanted him to be responsible for her kids, after all, she was the father. 

She had wanted a lot of plans with him but she never found him.

 No one knew where he lived. No one knew who he was. No one knew what he looked like. It seemed like she was crazy, talking to people about him but only she could understand.

Now, seeing that he was a wealthy man, she could still not contain the shock. Just like a nightmare! It didn’t look real.

 She grabbed the hem of her shirt and puffed out smoke from her mouth.

 It looked like she was having a hard time as she kept fidgeting with her fingernails.

Would it seem okay if she let the father of her kids know that he has children somewhere?

 Is it okay to let him know what had occurred between them in the past? Gosh! 

Wouldn't it seem like she was a gold digger or something? What if he had misunderstood her as someone who was after his money? What if he did not recollect what happened? It’s normal for men not to recollect stuff like that. 

Should she let him know or what? She thought as she fidgeted and sighed.

But then, flashes of what happened earlier to Dora and the man made her tremble the more.

What if, after he finds out, he takes the kids away from her? What if he would not let her see them again?

 What if he told her that she was not capable of taking care of his kids? What if… Damn! She thought and held her head. She did not want to think about those brutal thoughts.

 One thing she was sure of was that she would never let anyone take them away from her. 

She would never let such happen. They were her happiness and responsibility. Why should she let that happen?

At this moment, they had gotten to the TV station. Bundled with the thought of BanksAnderson that refused to erase from her mind, she sluggishly walked inside the station but the moment she dropped the camera, she was welcomed with a cold glare from someone who walked over to her side sluggishly,

Pointing her middle finger at her, Dora glared at her the more

. Merely seeing Selena she hated her guts. She hated the fact that she was humiliated in her presence. She hated the fact that she was treated like a fool, despite all she had done to be by his side

. She hated the fact that Selena, whom she was so jealous of, was right there, staring at all that had happened while she was pushed away. 

Did she now think that she would let all these slide? Did she think that she would just have to pretend as if nothing ever happened? She thought angrily.

“ You’re fired!” she spat out. Selena knitted her brows in confusion immediately she heard that statement. 

What this young woman just said did not make any sense. What did she mean by that?She was fired? For what? Thought of what was going on around her did not let her reason, being the intelligent person that she was.

“ fired? What do you mean by that?” she asked again, wanting to be sure of what she just heard.

“ what do I mean by that? Don’t you understand what it means? We don’t want you here anymore! You are so clueless! Stubborn! You don’t know anything about camera! You don’t know how to handle it!” she screamed out angrily.

At that moment, Selena understood that she was only venting her anger on her.

 She had been so moody after what had happened earlier. She knew that shefelt Selena would let everyone know what had happened to her earlier, she didn’t even have the time for that but was that enough reason to fire her? She wondered and looked at her angrily. She wanted to reply back but she decided not to say anything.

Angrily, she pointed her middle finger at her and stormed out of the place.

Getting out of the cab after being sent away, she rushed back home reluctantly.

She had been so happy earlier about her new job but this same job already made her sad. 

The moment she got home, she met her three children sleeping quietly, this made her worries eased. 

Her worries immediately fade away. Even if she had no money, all she wanted was for them to be happy.

After all, they were her source of joy. And now, thinking about Banks Anderson again, she frowned.

 Never in her life would she let that man take her children away! She would fight for their custody if that ever happens!

She thought as she watched them.

Few days later, she had started looking for more jobs but then, if the pay wasn’t good, they would demand something else like having sex with her.

At the end of everything, she managed to apply for the position of a receptionist.

 Even though the pay was small, she had no other choice.

 It was better than having sex with them for her work pay to be high. She had hopes that everything would be fine.

That sunny morning, her phone rang. She hurriedly picked it up.

“ Hello?”

“ Calling from Drew Group,” the female voice said over the phone.

Drew group? That was the largest company in Oakland city. She thought and smiled.

“ I’m asking if you will be interested in our interview which is taking place in the next one hour.”

“ yes! Yes, I’m interested!” she said smiling and hurriedly dressed up to meet up with the interview.…” 8:00am!”… the interviewer said.

Few hours later, she came out of the interview room in happiness. She had gotten the job. And the offer was also very good. She would get paid more than her former offer at the tv station.

She hurriedly went home in joy. It was at that moment she wished that her children were old enough to also share the happiness with her. She wouldn’t even have to meet up with their father again. After all, she was now well to do!

The next morning, she hurriedly woke up to dress up in other to get to work early. Dressed in a mini light skirt on white off shoulder top on flat heels, she got a cab and drove towards the direction of the company

.The moment she got to the company, she sighed and smiled at the same time. Just as she was about to walk inside, she was interrupted by a black Toyota Highlander car which stopped in front of the door.

Wondering whom it was, she suddenly got interested and stopped

Suddenly, two security guards rushed over and opened the door while they lowered their heads.

“ Good morning, Mr Banks!” one of the security guards said.

The name made her retrace her steps. Mr Banks? Could it be Banksl Anderson? She thought and stared at the person that would come out of the car.

A young, tall man came out of the car, dressed in black Italian suit on black, ever shiny shoes with his hair combed and styled neatly on black shades.

 The moment he got off, he removed his black shades.

Her eyes widened in shock as she looked at him. It was him! Banks Anderson! The father of her child! What was he doing here? She thought in shock

Now, this explains the name of the group! Drew group! Gracious! Does this mean that this man she wanted to get away from and had thought that she had escaped from for good was her boss?
