CHAPTER 2:
"Roman, wait up." Lucas called out as he tried to catch up to Roman. He had been looking at the surroundings and he was disgusted by how everything was.
"You know how to speed up." Roman answered simply, his eyes scanning his surrounding.
"What are you doing at the auction house anyway? Does being here help you in your search for Dianne?" Lucas grumbled as he came to stand before Roman.
"Out of my way, Lucas." He said to his friend and assistant. He was hurt at the mention of the name, Dianne. He had been looking for Dianne, who happened to be his mate. Or so he thought.
"Common man, you're the next Alpha of the Crescent Pack. You shouldn't be found in a place like this." Lucas tried to dissuade Roman from going into the auction house.
However, Roman was determined to go in. He didn't inform Lucas that he had gotten information about Dianne being in the auction house.
Though he understood that his father's and the Pack's enemies could take his presence there as a tool for their dirty politics, he didn't care.
Lucas was still standing stubbornly before Roman and he was starting to get frustrated.
Roman then placed his hand on Lucas' left shoulder, "You don't have to worry about anything." He patted Lucas' shoulder and took a detour to the entrance of the auction house.
He was then led to the VIP booth as everything had been arranged beforehand.
The auction was already in full swing and Roman hoped he had not missed what he was there for. He couldn't believe how his Dianne would end up in such a place. He decided to see for himself first.
Different girls and children were brought out for the auction. Roman was starting to get disgusted by everything, and he made a mental note to have such barbaric act of selling off living beings banned.
****
"Drag her out…" The head guard of the auction house ordered and two hefty men were quick to walk toward a girl lying on the dirty dungeon floor.
It was Adrianna and she had been out ever since she passed out. It had been over five hours since she was sold off to the auction house.
"Boss, should we wake her up?" One of the hefty men asked and the head guard shook his head. He wasn't about to deal with the shouts and screams of a girl about to be sold off.
"No, sedate her. She will sleep throughout the auction. More peace for us." The head guard said and turned to walk away. Adrianna was the last girl to be auctioned off and he didn't want to waste his time there again.
He had made a lot of gains that day and he couldn't wait to spend lavishly.
Adrianna was sedated and her clothes were torn. She had to be naked in order to get a good buyer willing to pay.
"Shit, what a nice body she has." One of the hefty men said. His eyes leered at Adrianna's naked body.
He wanted to at least touch her even though he wouldn't be able to do her as he liked. His hand moved and before he could, he was shoved away by his colleague.
"What do you think you're doing?" Another hefty man said. His eyes were red as he was the one that informed Roman that he had found Dianne.
He believed that the girl lying down was Dianne and no one else. Also, he couldn't stop his colleagues from stripping her of her clothes. All he could do was watch.
"Take her to the auction hall." He ordered in a stern voice. He exuded authority and the others were quick to follow even though they had no reason to.
Adrianna's body dangled as they carried her into the auction hall.
"One of the most prized possession we have here. And she goes for a thousand!" The auctioneer shouted.
The men held onto Adrianna as she wasn't able to stand on her own. Her face and full body were in view.
Her scent immediately filled the air and Roman caught unto it.
"Mate!" That word echoed in Roman's head as soon as he spotted Adrianna whom he believed to be Dianne.
"Dianne!!" Lucas shouted while standing up to his feet.
"10,000!!" Roman shouted and everyone present looked at the VIP booth.
They wanted to see who was so stupid and extravagant to pay such a huge amount for a mere human girl.
"10,000!!" The auctioneer shouted. His eyes shone with greed at the thought of the huge commission he would get from selling off Adrianna.
On the other hand, Roman's eyes were red. He didn't like the way men stared lewdly at Dianne's body, his mate.
However, Lucas was still staring, "Get your eyes off her!" Roman shouted, a bit surprised at the way he was acting.
Lucas was quick to turn away, chastising himself for staring too long at Dianne.
He was never this jealous and insecure over Dianne. He then concluded that it was because he had missed her.
Back to the auction, no one else was willing to pay a huge price for a human girl. Adrianna's worth had skyrocketed and Roman eventually bought her.
Thirty minutes later, Adrianna was in Roman's arms. She was dressed now and sparks flew whenever Roman made contact with her body.
"Weird…" Roman said to himself. He had never felt such intense feelings for Dianne and it was beginning to be a bit overwhelming for him.
Also, he was curious why Dianne had left him and made mental notes to get the answers from her.
It was a wonder that Adrianna looked so similar to Roman's Dianne, there was no significant difference.
Soon, Roman was back at the pack house with Lucas. The news of Dianne's return had spread and everyone in the pack was already waiting to welcome her, outside.
All of a sudden, Dianne had just disappeared and now she was back. They were curious to know what had happened.
"Please, make way." Lucas started to clear the way for Roman as everyone had surrounded them. Also, Adrianna was still unconscious, oblivious to the change that had started in her life.
Roman was able to get into the pack house successfully. He then marched toward his bedroom under the gaze of everyone in the house.
"Son…" The Luna called out to Roman but he didn't wait to answer, he continued to walk toward his bedroom. Thoughts about what had happened to Dianne clouded his mind.
In two minutes, Roman was already in his bedroom. He then lay Adrianna down on the bed, deciding to wait for her to wake up.
His body screamed fatigue because he had exhausted all efforts to look for his mate, Dianne.
A few hours passed and Adrianna stirred on the bed. Her eyes were hazy as she opened them. For a moment, she thought she had died as she couldn't remember what happened to her.
However, in one swift second, everything that had happened flashed in her head.
"Ahhhh…" Adrianna screamed as she jolted up from the bed. Her hazy eyes became clearer than the blue skies.
"What? What is it?" Roman's voice boomed out and Adrianna was shocked. He had been sleeping and she didn't notice someone was in the room.
She looked around frantically for the owner of the voice and she saw a handsome man running toward her.
Her eyes locked with his and she detect the raw emotion of worry and love in his eyes.
"Who are you?" Adrianna blurted out and Roman froze. Adrianna didn't want to think a stranger would love her.
She had just gotten out of a relationship and she found herself in a stranger's room and on his bed.
She decided to stand up from the bed, in order to find her way out. As soon as she stood up, Roman broke out of his frozen state.
"Where are you going, Dianne?" He asked, his brows scrunched into a frown.
Adrianna was confused. However, she replied immediately, "I'm not Dianne!"
Her words set Roman off guard but he thought he had misheard her.
She got down from the bed and began to walk toward the door.
"Where are you going?" Roman asked again, running after her. He was confused by her reaction toward him and he quickly grabbed her before she could open the door.
"I'm leaving. Let me go!" Adrianna's tone was fierce. Roman was greatly surprised, he knew Dianne for being soft and gentle. However, he was convinced that he was talking to Dianne.
"You're leaving? Why did you leave in the first place? You got fed up with me?" Roman asked straightforwardly. He was simple-minded and he didn't mind showing his emotions to her.
"What? I never left anyone. Hell, I don't even know you!" Adrianna said and dragged her hand away from his hold.
In the process, his shirt tore and she spotted a tattoo on his wrist.
"What is that?" She asked, confusedly.
CHAPTER 3:"What do you mean?" Roman asked back immediately. He was incredibly confused about what was happening and why Dianne was behaving weirdly."The tattoo…" Adrianna said, in a low voice. She could remember seeing exactly the same tattoo when she saved a man in the forest near the orphanage."It's just a random tattoo." Roman replied with a smile on his face and then grabbed Dianne's hand."What are you doing?" Adrianna asked, she was incredibly irritated by the way he was dragging her continuously."Let me go!! I want to leave." She tried to fight but she was subdued by Roman. He then carried her to the bed and then cupped her beautiful face."I'm sorry, Dianne. I can't let you leave me again." Roman said and then stood up from the bed."Get some rest, I'll get you something to eat. You need energy when you face the pack." Roman declared and then turned to walk out of the bedroom."Wait!" She suddenly called out before he could disappear behind the door."What's your name?" Ad
CHAPTER 4:"What do you mean? I'm not sick for fuck's sake." Adrianna said in a low tone. She was starting to get really annoyed at Roman."I know you're not sick." Roman began, his voice was slightly shaky. And as the minute passed by, he noticed Adrianna's face was getting darker."You lied to me! You said we were going sightseeing and now we are at a hospital. What the hell am I supposed to see here?" Adrianna said, her voice raising an octave."Relax, baby." Roman said in a low and sweet tone, trying to soothe her.The way he called her baby made Adrianna raise her brows in surprise. She felt touched but then she wasn't a fool to let him get away with his lies."Listen, Dian...hmm, you know you were at the auction house, right?" Roman started, the gears in his head were turning as he thought of what to say. He had almost called her Dianne again but he was able to stop himself in the nick of time."Yeah? You got me from the auction house. I'm fucking sure, it's Lucy and Dave that g
CHAPTER 5:The car turned really silent and Adrianna was starting to get really uncomfortable."Is anything wrong with me?" Adrianna asked again. She had asked at first but then Roman didn't care to reply to her.Her eyes turned teary as she wasn't used to getting ignored by Roman."What's wrong with me? Why am I getting affected by his stupid attitude?" She asked herself as she didn't understand why she felt like crying. On the other hand, Roman still had a grim look on his face. He could hear Adrianna's questions clearly but he didn't care to answer. He was battling with a lot inside. For a moment, the car turned silent again as he continued to drive. But then with his heightened senses, he could hear slight sniffing from the back seat."Is she crying?" He asked himself as his heart clenched in pain.He never felt this way for Dianne before. Though he had feelings for Dianne, they were never this intense. His wolf was clawing at his mate bond, "You dimwit, my mate is distressed. You
CHAPTER 6:"Let go of me." Adrianna yelled in fear. Her hands held onto the hand around her neck. She tried to drag the hand away from her neck but it only got worse."You can't overpower me, you witch." Roman's cousin, Lisa, said in a sinister tone and Adrianna gasped. Lisa's strength was too great and she wasn't like Lucy who couldn't even fight for herself. How could Adrianna compare to Lisa's strength?Adrianna couldn't see what was happening as the hallway was too dark. However, she felt that Lisa's voice was incredibly familiar but she couldn't remember when and where she had heard it."L-let go of me…" Adrianna managed to say. Her senses were heightened in the dark and she felt pain like never before. It felt like her life force was being sucked out.Her eyes rolled and at the moment she was about to pass out, Lisa let her go and she burst into a fit of coughs."What the hell is going on here?" Roman yelled as the lights were flicked on.Adrianna's eyes brightened at the sight
CHAPTER 7:"Don't joke around, Lisa." Roman replied through the mind link. He was already facing someone that looks so much like Dianne and now Lisa informed him that Dianne was here."What the fuck is happening." Roman said out loud."Dianne is really out here. The pack members have gathered around her and also the Luna is currently interrogating her as we speak." Lisa said, word for word.Roman didn't wait for her to say anything else before he cut off the mind link. He immediately got hold of Adrianna's hand and ordered, "Come with me.""What? Let go of me. What do you think you're doing?" Adrianna asked as Roman started to drag her down the hallway. Her attitude further confirmed that she was just an imposter and the fact that the real Dianne was back, made Roman eager to get to the truth of the matter."Shut up and stay quiet. You talk too much." Roman yelled as he approached the stairs leading to the common hall.As he approached he could hear the uproars going on there and he k
CHAPTER 8:"You must have had such a wild time being a spy here, haven't you?" Dianne asked with her brows raised. Her nose was up in the air and she looked really arrogant. However, Lisa didn't mind how arrogant she was."I'm sure you must have had a nice time seducing the Alpha of the Crescent Pack. Tell me, did it turn out well?" Lisa asked, in a mocking tone.In one swift second, she walked toward the bed and sat down."You should go clean up. You stink. Why do you have to put on such an act? You could have simply come back looking all clean." Lisa said, while looking at Dianne from her head to her toes."Don't insult me, Lisa. You helped me fake my death. I'm glad about that but you have no reign over my life. Get that?" Dianne said, in a chilling tone. Her expression looked fierce, a stark contrast to how she acted before Roman or anyone else in the pack.Immediately, Dianne sat on the bed and Lisa scrambled away from her."Get away from me." Lisa screeched, moving to the other
CHAPTER 9:"Adrianna? What do you mean? How do you know her?" Roman asked with a frown on his face. His wolf snarled and threatened to jump out at the accusation leveled against Adrianna."Yes…" Dianne said, her lips quivering due to feigned fear."What did she do to you, huh?" He asked and held onto her tighter like he wanted to protect her."Promise me you won't punish her or lock her up. I think she was used." She said, trying to plead on behalf of Adrianna but then she was only adding to the fire."If she's guilty of any crime, I can't let her go. She has to be punished." He said resolutely and Dianne hugged him tighter.A wicked smirk crept onto her face and she said, "No..no…" Her voice shook slightly."Darius will come for us again." She said and immediately Roman pulled her face away."Tell me." He ordered, cupping her face in his hands."While I was at the Crescent Pack…" She began, her eyes darting to look around the whole room. She depicted how fearful she was, perfectly an
CHAPTER 10:"What interrogation? I'm innocent!" Adrianna screamed and she looked at all the guards that had gathered her.Her gaze was frantic as she tried to stand up to her feet."Sit down!" The head guard shouted and immediately Adrianna sat down. Her buttocks hit the chair, hard. With a smirk on the head guard's face, he walked toward Adrianna and looked her in the eyes."We need the truth from you and nothing but the truth." He said, in a sinister tone and Adrianna shivered. In the next second, Adrianna nodded her head slightly, at the guard's words."What pack are you from?" The head guard asked, standing upright. He then folded his bulging arms, making him look fierce before Adrianna.Even though Adrianna didn't like to be bullied, she knew she didn't stand a chance against the head guard. She wouldn't even touch the hem of his garment, with all the other guards present."I'm not from any pack. What's a pack? Pack of wolves?" Adrianna replied with a big frown on her face."Don'
“You did what?”Asher sighed. His Beta’s jaws was currently hanging off the floor. He had known Victor would strongly oppose, known also that Elise was one of the few creatures on this earth that managed to unnerve the life out of him. The woman creeps Asher out too, and once, maybe he’d liked the dangerous and sexy type. But he was literally a married man now and the only reason Elise would be coming to the pack was so that she can help find Kihara.“You invited her here? Are you mad?” Victor continued loudly.“Keep your voice down okay,” Asher hushed. “You know Victor, that we’ve been doing this ourselves for a while and failing. We need help, and she’s the best help we can get.”Victor shook his head, the look of horror on his face still not clearing. “Of course she’s the best Asher, she’s a fucking bounty hunter, hired killer, assassin,” Victor counted on his fingers, his eyes seemingly widening each time he dropped a finger. “And a fucking were-snake Asher, let’s not forget about
Twilight pack had gradually declined to a somber graveyard in the absence of it’s Luna. The halls bleak and lacking of color, every wolf felt the same bleakness inside of them, as though an emptiness had been carved in their hearts. More cruel was that they had no idea what to do. To mourn their Luna? For if she was dead, then that was the right thing to do. Or to hope? To dare look up to the moon and hope that she was still alive and that one day she would be returned? It did not seem likely, but it was a possibility they were willing to entertain. For their alpha, he needed it, needed that hope. That was all he ran on.Hunting down Sebastian had never become more primary than now. Asher has men combing every nook and cranny of this town. He was sure that one day, he would hit the jackpot and one of those searches would unlock the villains hiding place. He did not need to search for long however, it seemed that the villain was done hiding. It was early morning when it happened. Asher
“Please,” The prisoner begged, “You don’t have to do this.”Asher’s eyes burned. Why could he not do this? His mate was stolen from him, why did he not deserve to at least transfer his rage to this man who had helped make it happen.“I’ll talk, anything you want, I promise.” The whimpered, his voice pitchy and breathy.Asher paused in his steps. “Then start talking, and fast.”The man nodded furiously, his body visibly deflating with relief. “Where is Sebastian?” Asher asked coolly, the hammer hanging casually by his side. The fear was back in the man’s eyes. He looked up at Asher, his gaze with utter defeat, as he shook his head,“No?” Asher’s eyebrows twitched with impatience.“I really don’t know. I swear.” The man whimpered, voice so shaky it was barely comprehensible.“If you don’t know, then you’re not at all useful to me.” Asher growled lowly. The man fell to his knees. “We were hired randomly. They promised to take care of our families if we died for this, kill them if we didn
TRIGGER WARNING: Themes of torture mentioned below.)Brody found him first, in the thicket where he had chosen to bleed out his feelings. He felt like a broken man and no words needed saying as Brody looked over Asher. It was obvious that he’d not found Kihara, that he had failed in protecting his mate and now she was in the hands of a moon cursed wolf.“Come on Alpha, we’ll find her another day.” Brody said. Just not today, Asher thought. How was it acceptable that he came here with his mate and has to leave without her? How is it acceptable that she remains in that man’s lair, dead or alive for even a day?Brody helped Asher up and walked him back the way he’d come, until they broke out of the woods and unto the road. Asher’s leg was still bleeding but not as profusely as earlier and the pain of the wolf’s bane was also fading. Asher missed that pain, it was more merciful than the clenching and unclenching of his heart. This ache and this utter feeling of emptiness that was evading
Asher felt it rather than saw, from the distance of a still forming mate bond, his mate’s distress. He looked up, and that was when he saw the man that had introduced himself as Ajax with his mate. He’d knocked Kihara out and now she lay cold and unconscious in his arms. A growl tore through the air and earth. Asher’s eyes shivered with emotion, fear and anger. Ajax looked over his shoulders at him, and for once, that unsmiling, unfeeling face dissolved with a smile. He’d won.Without time to waste, and with Kihara in his arms, Ajax ran off the roads and into the mountains. His mate weighed nothing in his arms, and was hardly an inconvenience, or deterrent to his speed. Asher screamed with fury, the panic traveling up his throat, clogging his airways. The men charged at him and he swiped and stabbed at every single one of them, not holding back his strengths. He needed to get to Kihara; the only thought that rang loud in his head. He couldn’t let Ajax have her, knowing where he was t
Ajax’s men drew their weapons, axes and blades glinting in the air like the shine of cruel death. Leila turned to Kihara hastily. “Whatever you do, you’ll stay with me okay?” Kihara nodded, her hands tightening on her gun. I have this, she thought to herself, she ought to be fine. Asher from a few feet away glanced back at them quickly, he shared a look with Brody and Leila and they seemed to understand a they both nodded. To kihara, his eyes softened and seemed to tell, ‘be safe.’ Kihara nodded at him. She did not plan to let any of these men get close to her.And they were a lot of them. They were beyond outnumbered. The men were ordinary humans, and against a dozen well trained wolves were like an army of ants, but ants that they were, they crawled towards them from every angle, swarming in as if they could choke off the air. The men were way more than preoccupied in a few seconds, battling claws with blades and axes. The wailing sound of men broke through the peaceful mountainous
Sebastian listened quietly the messenger, a drink in his hand illuminating the colorful swirl of candlelight it captured. The messengers words echoed softly through his ear drums. After the man was done, Sebastian nodded. “You’re dismissed.”The man backed out of the room, his legs were about to cross the threshold when Sebastian called. “Don’t go back to the woods Jerry. I doubt that our boy will be anymore useful after today.”***Everything was set for their journey to Ever-moon. Transportation and envoy and the gifts Kihara had prepared for ever-moon waited downstairs while the Alpha couples exchanged swift words with each other.“You know why I worry Kihara, it is dangerous.” Asher was saying, the veins in his temples bulging as he emphasized on the word dangerous. Kihara was having none of it as she stood glaring at him with her hands crossed above her chest. ‘I don’t see how that is an issue.” They had had this conversation last night, and the night before, still, Asher was in
Kihara had never been to the pack dungeon. She was not even aware that a place like such existed, but as it turned out, the underground bunker was not the only thing underground. The dungeon was built a bit off ways from the pack, the only thing that lead to it was well like construction with stairs. The dungeon wasn’t well kept, unlike many areas of the pack, because it was hardly used. Asher told kihara the last time it had been opened, it was used by his father, and now him, to lock up Justin.Kihara climbed down the narrow stairs that led down to the dungeon with her heart feeling heavy and in her throat, Asher right behind her. At the bottom of the stairs, the dungeon opened up to9 a big musty space. The air was hot and drier around here. Directly in the middle of the room, two iron cages sat beside each other, and Justin sat in one, on a stool, his hands and knees bound. The cages looked ordinary to Kihara, there was no reason why they should be able to hold a werewolf, Kihara w
Kihara’s honeymoon lasted three nights. Three good nights of no worries, three nights of forgetting that there was even anything to be worried about. It ended too quickly for her liking, but they needed to get back to their duties, and Kihara needed to start hers. The bodies they found in the woods had been buried properly. In the days Kihara and Asher remained completely indoors, the only time they opened their doors was to receive food, and in their absence, Victor had taken charge. He’d put off alerting human authorities about the bodies in the woods and for good reason. No human police would not believe that the work had been done by a pack of werewolves. It’d be like putting handcuffs on their own wrists and walking to the police station to be locked behind bars, not that any police bar or handcuff could hold a werewolf. Apart from burying the bodies, there were many other issues. The pack had grown hesitant of stepping outside pack house boundaries. Members who had human jobs
