Saturday dawned bright and early and Naa Larley groaned tiredly as she felt the room brighten with sunlight.
"Wake up...It's morning." She heard Louisa gush as she hastily turned to her side and used a pillow to cover her face."I don't know how you're so energetic this early in the morning but please get out and lemme sleep. " She complained bitterly. But Louisa was undeterred, pausing briefly from her active task of opening the curtains, she stated. "But you said we'd think of what to do with the girls today. You said we'd have so much fun with you here and a-""I know I know...But I'm sure it's only six o'clock. We have the whole day and you know I don't joke with my weekend sleep... plus I can't even have coffee so lemme catch some extra shuteye- thirty minutes I promise." Naa Larley pleaded.Louisa sighed. "Well alright, I'll be downstairs, but just so you know it's eleven, not six."The duo had slept really late last night, all plans of sleep had"William are you okay?" Reggie asked him as she combed her hair in front of the dressing mirror. She had been observing her man for about twenty minutes and he seemed troubled. She didn't understand. Everything was getting back on track, and he was almost his normal self..that is, until the night after they came back from the beach, she really didn't get what was going on. Their eyes met, bluish-grey clashing with dark brown and William sighed. How was he going to break it to her that he wanted to end things? He really didn't want to hurt her feelings but he knew there was no way she was coming out of this relationship without getting hurt.He stood up from the bed and knelt before his fiancee, turning her chair so she faced him completely.Taking in a deep breath, he said. "Reggie, I want us to break up."The woman looked at him for a long while and then burst out laughing."Whew William, that was a good one. Okay I admit it now, you're a little funny."
"Should I wear the red one or the beige one?" Louisa asked as she held the two dresses up so her friend could help her make a choice. She had initially decided to wear something simple, but as luck would have it, Naa Larley had voice called her right after she stepped out of her bathroom and when she had learnt of her dear friend's agenda, she had immediately switched to video call to "help her girl out.""It depends on where you are going Lou. Do you know?" Naa Larley asked."Yes. I'm meeting him at the Robin Hood Hotel."Naa Larley whistled in appreciation. "The man's got taste."Louisa rolled her eyes. "Girl, if you won't help me, then I'll make my own choice. I don't want to be late."Her friend raised her hands in mock surrender and muttered as she readjusted herself on the bed. "Jeez jeez. I didn't know you were that eager to meet him. Choose the red one."Louisa pursed her lips in displeasure. She wasn't going to give her silly friend the reactio
"Hurry up Isa, else you're going to be late." Louisa shouted from the kitchen. For the first time in a long time, she was having a morning meal... a cup of coffee and some bread and scrambled eggs, at home. She had woken up very early today, so she had a lot of time on her hands and could even manage some breakfast.Mrs. Mensah sat at the table across from her, a pleased look on her face. Louisa could tell it was definitely because she was eating breakfast, so she decided to pretend to not have noticed the look on her mother's face."You were up very early today." She heard her mother say as she fetched a forkful of scrambled eggs into her mouth.Louisa chewed slowly to delay her reply but eventually had to when everything was swallowed."I couldn't sleep Mama, I guess it's just work stress... nothing to worry about."Mrs. Mensah gave her daughter a look that clearly said she didn't buy the lie she was selling but made no comment. Instead, she said. "Well, I
"You have a daughter?!" William asked incredulously as he stared at the young teen looking back at him with wide eyes. His gaze shifted frantically from mother to daughter as if that would help analyse their features and confirm if it were really true. Louisa herself stood rooted in shock. This was honestly not how she imagined her greatest fear coming to fruition."You really need to leave William, you got what you wanted to say off your chest, and equally got what you came here for." She concluded when she came to her senses but realised her words seemed to have had no effect, for the handsome man made no move to exit her office. She turned to her daughter who still stood at the doorway looking on in interest. She inched closer to her daughter after a deep intake of breath. "Isa honey, could you give us a moment? You can wait outside with Auntie Akua, this won't take long." She assured the girl.Isabel nodded in understanding. "Alright mum, but first, my school bag.
"How long before I get out of this place doctor?" Naa Larley tiredly asked as the male doctor checked her vitals. The door sharply opening barred the doctor from giving any comments to that question."You'll be bloody spending the rest of the pregnancy here at the hospital if you don't stop working." Louisa spat out in anger as she marched into the private ward with Mike in tow. They had both arrived at the same time, and were quickly directed to their patient's ward. The poor man rushed over to his wife and engulfed her in a long hug."Naa, thank God you're okay." He breathed her in. "You have no idea how worried I was." He whispered as he brushed a few hairs away from her face.Louisa stood across the bed, arms folded. Mike was in an emotional position right now, therefore she had to be the tough one."You've got to stop working Naa... or at least work from home. Too much stress isn't good for you or the baby." She advised in a less angry manner, inching closer
A knock sounded at the door, causing Louisa to jump with a start at its suddenness. Naa Larley laughed. "Jeez, relax girl." She teased. Turning her gaze to the door she hollered."Come in!"The two friends watched as the door tentatively opened to reveal a smartly dressed Chris Ayettey holding a bouquet of tulips in his arms."Good evening ladies." He greeted after he had shut the door behind him, eyes opening in surprise when his gaze landed on the woman sitting upright on the hospital bed."Naa Larley?" He turned to look at Louisa for confirmation as Naa Larley proudly grinned and answered. "The one and only."Chris was still stunned. "God, I can't believe this." He muttered as Louisa stood up to take the beautiful flowers from his grasp and place them in the second vase that sat at the only desk in the room, right next to the bunch of roses. He looked at her accusingly. "You didn't tell me Naa Larley was the ill friend." Louisa glared back with equal
The pattering sound of rain woke Louisa up from her deep slumber. She groaned tiredly, lazily feeling her bedside table for her phone so she could check the time. It was two thirty a.m, and she didn't even have to go to work early as she had called her assistant the night before, explaining to her that she had a family emergency and therefore couldn't make it to work at her usual time of eight o'clock. The woman got up to close her curtains, and grabbed her bathrobe, heading to her daughter's room to make sure the curtains had been closed over there as well. Isabel slept soundly... she didn't even stir when her mother turned on the lights. Louisa silently closed the curtains and waltzed towards the young teen, pulling the covers over her shoulders gently and giving her a kiss on the forehead. She stood there for a moment, looking at the girl as she slept, lost in thought as she recalled what had happened the day before.William finally knew he had a daughter!Gos
Louisa and William pulled away from each other awkwardly, William wearing a proud look on his face, Louisa, an embarrassed one on hers."Chris!" She exclaimed in a voice she clearly recognised wasn't hers. "I-- uh, wasn't expecting you today.""Oh yes," Chris responded absentmindedly, moving away from the door to stand behind one of the chairs across Louisa's desk... right next to William. He glanced at his friend... or was it ex-friend now? He really didn't know. All he knew was that he desperately wanted to bash the bastard's face in, but he surprisingly kept himself in check."Hello William." He greeted calmly."Hello Chris," William replied as well, feeling a sense of hate towards his friend. He knew they had both agreed to give one another equal opportunities to pursue the beautiful woman who was currently observing the scene before her with awkward tentativeness, but he was beginning to regret his decision. You could call him insecure... but truth be t
REGGIE AND CHRIS- New Beginnings “So you’re trying to tell me that our child is perfectly fine?” Chris asked in complete confusion. “Yes, Mr. Ayettey…” The doctor assured him with a wide grin. “But, I thought bleeding was a sign of a miscarriage,” Reggie interrupted, equally confused. “It is, but that is not always the case, Mrs. Ayettey—” “Oh, uh… we’re not married.” She corrected, a light blush coating her cheeks… one that had Chris grinning like an awestruck idiot. “My apologies, then. Anyway, as I was saying… bleeding isn’t always a sign of a miscarriage. It can be sign of implantation of the embryo in the uterus, like yours was… there are other reasons for bleeding during pregnancy, but I wouldn’t want to bore you to death with all of that.” He finished. “But I thought implantation and everything that had to do with that occurred in the first trimester?” Reggie asked after a moment’s thought. “Yes, great question.”
REGGIE AND CHRIS- BleedingTwo whole months. Two whole months since the incident, and things were just as tensious as before. So much so that Chris was already so full of regret. If someone had told him that his short outburst would have launched such a devastating aftermath, he probably would have called them a liar, but things were actually that bad.Reggie did not talk to him.Like at all.She didn’t eat his foods, choosing instead to live off fruits and vegetables, and other stuff that didn’t require much any complex skill. The tension had been so unbearable that Chris had gotten a housemaid to come live with them. He was the one who had ruined their budding relationship,She didn’t have to suffer for it?Fortunately, Reggie had hit it off with the maid, Janet… so at least Chris didn’t have to worry about that aspect of their life anymore. He had someon
REGGIE AND CHRIS- Beautiful start, ugly endChris had always thought that Deidre was a woman! So he hadn’t even bothered to meet her after allowing her access into his house. You can imagine his surprise therefore when he suddenly heard purely masculine laughter wafting into his study. He had been surprised and curious, and so he had decided to go and take a look, hiding his intentions under the guise of wanting to know what Reggie wanted to have for lunch. There sat Deidre, a complete man all right, but with an interesting twist.Chris slowly felt his anxiety ebb somewhat as he made his way to the kitchen to get started on lunch.Deidre was no competition? The revelation that he had been worried that Reggie might have another love interest after William really unsettled the man though. What exactly did it mean?He honestly didn’t care. Really, he didn’t.Liar.
REGGIE AND CHRIS- DeidreReggie tried to keep her cool as she watched Deidre alight from his rickety car.If someone ever told her that she’d be this excited to hear and see the car that had annoyed her pretty much over the past two years, Reggie would have called the person a serious liar and probably would have had them charged for treason, or maybe worse… like cast into the dungeons. But here she was, truly fawning over it, and barely being able to do something about it.“So you dump all the work on me and take off on some Cinderella adventure, leaving me to deal with the real world, huh?” Deidre started dramatically as soon as he stepped out of the car. “See? I had always known you were a bitch.”Reggie laughed and wrapped her arms around her assistant in a hug. “Oh, Deidre… what a dramatic way to tell me you have missed me.” She teased. “You know, you could have just said the words
REGGIE AND CHRIS- Thinking things, seeing thingsFor the first time since she got here, Chris spent the entire day with her!Well, it wasn’t exactly the entire day since it wasn’t even two o’clock yet. What Reggie meant was that even after they had had breakfast, the handsome hunk still hung around the living room like some ghost… instead of locking himself in his study like he usually did, even though there was some kind of tension in the air after his outburst about liking how she enjoyed his meals. That tension had put a bit of a strain on the flow of their conversations, so they weren’t really talking. Plus, Reggie had her phone back so she was much more focused on letting the few people she had in her life know that she hadn’t vanished off the face of the earth. She was pretty sure that her mother had kept most of them posted, but just a text wasn’t bad, and so that was exactly what she was d
REGGIE AND CHRIS- The ruined breakfastReggie had never been this bored in her life!It had already been a week since she agreed to her baby daddy’s crazy proposition and she could swear that she was already starting to regret the decision. You see, Reggie had always felt that the housewife kind of life was never meant for her.And the past week had proved her completely right! But at least things would have been a bit more bearable if she was seeing said baby daddy often. The man mostly kept to himself, meeting her in the dining room for breakfast and lunch and supper only, and then shutting himself in his study for the rest of the day.He was with her in the house, but it for sure didn’t feel like it to the supermodel.Plus, without her phone or laptop, Reggie had only television to keep her company through the lonely times, and she wasn’t much of a TV person so you can just imagine how lonely she
REGGIE AND CHRIS- The PropositionReggie finished the whole carton of apple fruit juice and the packet of biscuits, much to her pleasant surprise. She hadn’t eaten that well in days, and she honestly felt so much better already.Chris on the other hand was very pleased. He had been covert in his observations, but seeing the annoying vixen eat and knowing that she was doing it to sustain herself and his unborn child was doing something to his insides. He was feeling so high, he wanted to climb to the highest mountain to shout that he was going to be a father. He still couldn’t believe it!It truly felt too good to be true. But at this point, he was done trying to make sense of the mechanisms of fate. He was going to do his best to make sure that the cards he had been dealt with worked in his favor. He heard Reggie clear her throat shyly, the action snapping him out of his thoughts.“I-I didn&rsq
REGGIE AND CHRIS- Things are going to changeHonestly speaking, when Chris opened the door and found her missing, and checked the bathroom and washroom and didn’t find her there, he knew right there and then that she had left. But he still wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt. And so he had gone out and searched the hospital halls, checked other wards… asked the nurses even. But no one had seen her.He had returned back to her ward and checked the drawers after his search had yielded no response, and that was when he had found that her clothes and car keys gone.Chris grinned. For some reason he thought this would have been an easy task. He had forgotten for a moment just how annoying the supermodel was, he really should have known that she wasn’t just going to sit back and do his bidding just because he had said so.Oh, but he had a plan. She was definitely going to move in with him,
REGGIE AND CHRIS- The escapeReggie stared at Chris in total confusion.“What the hell are you talking about? What child?”Chris studied her, looking for any signs of acting or… something, but he realised that she was genuinely confused. “You didn’t know?” He asked her.She shook her head.“Well, you’re pregnant.” He confirmed. “Now, I didn’t think it was my place so I haven’t called William yet, that’s assuming it’s even his in the first place…”Reggie wasn’t listening to a single thing the man was saying, her brain was furiously doing calculations and making deductions. She had missed her period, but she didn’t really think much of it.She had blamed her stress and crazy resting and eating patterns for the skip. Plus it usually happened, so it wasn’t really anything out of the ordinary. Fu
