“What is going on here?” Neil asked as he rushed into the room with a flushed face. His face was glowing and his clothes were a mess. A certain smell lingered on his body making Jade look at him with narrowed eyes.

“Pay them off and let’s leave.” Thundered Dominic as he led the march outside.

His men followed pitifully as they sent mental messages for Neil to save them later, leaving him puzzled. He turned to Jade who seemed to be reading him and felt scared under her gaze.

‘Wait, why would a measly human evoke this feeling?’ he asked himself as he reached for a check book.

“Um, miss Barista, what is the price?” he asked as he placed the book down.

Wanting to see how far he would go after disrupting her afternoon, Jade spoke of an astronomical price and Neil was seething. Clearly, it wasn’t all that expensive yet she had hiked the price!

“You had better be speaking the truth, otherwise this might be the end for you.” Neil whispered dangerously low close to her ear while clutching at her neck. Her very presence irritated him to no end and he felt like ending her then and there. Jade didn’t feel threatened at all though she was getting angry and felt like fighting it out with him.

‘I can’t beat him but I can still try.’ She thought as she clenched her fists getting ready to fight and just when she was going to swing, Sylvie jumped in between the two.

“Don’t mind her, Neil. She was just bluffing. It’s ok. You guys can go.” She says in a hurry as she clasps Neil’s hands that were around Jade’s slender neck.

Jade looked at the two and thought that she saw their eyes glow and flash which made her lose sight of what she wanted. Neil let go and picked up the check book before handing it to Sylvie.

“Fill in what we owe. The Radvillas always pay their dues.” He said through gritted teeth while glaring at Jade who just rolled her eyes at him.

Sylvie filled the check in and wrote her number on a page before handing it back to Neil with a wink that Jade didn’t catch. She escorted him out with a blush creeping her neck and Jade found this suspicious.

She scrutinized her work attire and she found some strange creases on them and strange white stains on her apron making her narrow her eyes.

‘I have narrowed my eyes far too much today. This is weird. Anyway, something is going on between those two.’ Jade thought as she tried to piece two and two.

“Oh~! A party! A party! A party for me and some fun also for me!” Sylvie squealed in happiness after seeing Neil off. Jade watched her in mock horror as though she was seeing a new person.

The Sylvie she knew was one who never ever squealed but then again she wouldn’t also have weird stains on her work uniform so everything was new to Jade.

“Sylvie, what is going on?” Jade asked with arms crossed as Sylvie got her mind together.

“Oh, it’s nothing. Now clean the tables and set everything in order. Today we are closing early cause I’m going dancing~!’ said Sylvie as she twirls off. Jade just shakes her head as she looks at Sylvie and picks up a mop before starting with the cleaning, long forgetting ever meeting the grumpy Neil or the annoying Dominic.

ELSEWHERE

In a faraway land where strange creatures roamed the sky and prowled the earth, in a dark and foreboding room sat a figure in a cloak. The room gave off a dump and musty smell and one could tell its age from the peeling paint and the faded color.

“Master, the two of them have met.” Croaked another with a hunched back and a scratchy voice.

“Oh, they have? Interesting! Well, let the games begin!”
