Chapter 30:  wrap things up

Charlotte’s pov

“Well then, welcome Logan” I said, and he looked at me confused.

“Just like that? You made it clear that day that you wanted nothing to do with me” he said, and I shrugged.

“I meant romantically; I am okay with you working here. it’s a professional relationship” I said with a smile, and he looked at me.

Living in the world we live in has obviously given him trust issues.

Hell, I would ask you to walk all around the world and I guarantee that you wouldn’t find a single supernatural being who doesn’t have trust issues.

We inherit them from our parents and it’s a survival tool for us.

I can tell that he doesn’t trust me, and he is right not to do so.

I have been on the run for 8 years; I have lost 8 years of my life looking for answers.

I have one solid lead and it might just be the one thing I need to crack open this pandora box.

And I wont let anyone screw it up, whether it’s the love of my life or my soul mate

They can all go to hell for all I care because nothing matters more to me than finding answers.

“Can you please start by wiping off the tables. We will be opening soon, and the rest of the staff is coming” I said and then went to my office.

I could feel his gaze following me and I will admit that I liked that he was watching me walk away.

But the truth is I don’t dream or have even thought about love in the past 8 years.

The last time I dreamt about love was when I meant the Vampire King years ago.

And that wasn’t even love but the infatuation of a 16 year old who just saw a really hot guy.

It was a crush, and I am not 16 years old.

After some time, Alexa came in and her eyes landed on me.

“So, what do you think about the new guy?” she asked me, and I just shrugged.

“He is hot isn’t he?” she asked me with a wink, and I just rolled my eyes.

“He is the Alpha Prince” I said, and her jaw dropped to the ground and her eyes grew wide.

“What? And you still haven’t fired him yet? Why? You would never let anything that could disturb your plans come into your life” she said.

Alexa has been with me for 4 years and she is the one person left in this world that knows me better.

“Why not? I have made it clear to him and he understands” I said, and she gave me the ‘I know you look’.

“Fine, I will get started and show him the ropes” she said, and I nodded.

I kept looking at the blueprint of the building we live in, and nothing stood out like always.

What is it that’s hiding there?

What is it that the other Scarlet from the other life wanted to tell me to badly?

And why do I feel like it’s really a message for me?

this is so frustrating, and I want to figure it out as much as I can.

“That doesn’t make sense” Mike said, and I looked at him confused.

“What doesn’t make sense?” I asked him and he got closer and looked at the blueprints.

Mike is working part time in order to be able to pay for his tuition.

I believe he is studying to be an architect, so he is very familiar with such things.

“The measurements on there, they don’t make sense” he said.

“Please sit down and help me, what do you mean? I have been looking at it for months and nothing” I said, and he nodded.

He started explaining to me and as I listened even more it made even more sense now.

“So, you are saying that this blueprint suggests that there is a hidden passageway?” I asked him and he nodded.

“I know for certain that there is one, in the parking lot” he said, and I nodded.

“Thank you so much for your help, you have no idea how much you have helped me in this” I said, and he smiled.

I can’t obviously go hunting for answers right now, I need to do this when everyone is sleeping.

Had I known then I would have asked his help a long time ago.

And tonight, after I find the answers to my riddle I will then take off.

“There is a man here and apparently he is not happy with our service and wants to see the owner” Alexa said rolling her eyes.

“He looks oddly familiar though” she added, and I followed her.

Who the hell creates drama about food so early in the morning?

We just opened and yet someone has the energy to complain.

I love cooking and I love the joy that food brings to people but I honestly can’t stand some people.

Like if you don’t like my food then go somewhere else.

The customer was facing the other way so I couldn’t see them from afar, but Logan had a smirk on his face.

The person turned around and there he was with a smirk as well.

The Vampire King, “I am new in the arear, I must say I really love your food. Thought you would like to hear the compliment directly” he said.

“You said the eggs were dry and made a fuss about seeing the owner” Alexa said to him a frown.

“Did I? ohhh I am sorry, I guess I had a change of heart” he then said looking at me.

“You are new in the area? Where do you live?” Mike asked with a friendly smile.

“Actually, the owner and I are neighbours” he said, and my eyes landed on Alexa who gasped.

I told her about out new neighbour, “why are these guys so hot?” she said looking at me.

“Thank you so much for the compliment, please continue to come and support my business. I just love it when I met new people, and since you are also my neighbour I will have them give you a discount” I said, and he also looked at me suspiciously.

They are stepping all over the boundaries I made, I was very firm and clear when I told them my position.

I really want nothing to do with whatever they have planned or their love stories.

Tonight, will end everything and what they don’t know is that I already have plans in motion.

As soon as I find answers then we will be out of here and I will make sure that they don’t find me.

I am very good and planning last minutes escapes, I have had to go through a lot of them.

My father even taught me to create an emergency kit for the both of us.

Now I create it for me and Alexa, she looked at me and then nodded.

She could tell the plan I have already.

I looked at them and I suddenly felt this resentment towards them.

I was living just fine in this place, and everything was quiet, and they just had to ruin everything.

We were so well settled, “okay then, please enjoy” I said and started walking away.

The day was slow, the Vampire King never left our restaurant all day long.

He ate breakfast, lunch and dinner there, even snacks in between.

“You go first, you have that thing remember? And I will stay and wrap things up” she said, and I nodded.

I knew what she meant by wrap things up and I smiled at this.

It would have been so lonely doing all of this on my own.

I am glad that now I have someone who helps me and is with me in all of this.

I went straight to the parking lot of our apartment but almost fainted when I saw them.

The other had his hand in his pocket and the other had his back against a wall.

“You took your time didn’t you? Come on, we need to find the answers don’t we?” Logan asked me.

relax Charlotte, just calm down and remember what’s more important.

But what if the answer isn’t a good thing??
