“Where are you?”

Arriana bit her index finger when she heard her father’s voice from the other end. She first glanced at Axel who was lying on the bed and sleeping.

“I just finished my class and haven’t come home yet.”

“I just called to say how are you and your mother is worried because you haven’t messaged since this morning.”

Arriana bit her finger again. If only her father had been in front of her, he would know that she was lying and guilty. “I’m sorry, Dad, I was up late this morning, so I forgot to call.”

“Go home and rest. Your mommy and I still can’t get home.”

“Yes, Dad. How is Sister Sunshine doing anyway?” She slowly stepped closer to Axel when she noticed that the blanket was no longer on his feet.

“She’s showing signs that she can wake up anytime.”
