CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO - MIX OF SCENTS

ALPHA ASHA

Jared kicked me up from sleep, I had already pounced on him in a livid rage before I identified his scent— somehow he had found this hilarious enough to laugh even as my wolf was only an inch away from snapping his throat like a cracker.

“Get out of that form Asha, you look hilariously stupid.” He chortled, cleaning off dust and grime from his puffer jacket. “You really like it damp and wet don’t you.”

My wolf gave the most ‘you’re disgusting’ look at him and I was sure he understood it.

“Oh don’t give me that look! You know I’m saying the truth.” He picked a small rock from the ground, cleaning it off sand and dirt.

Slowly my bones fractured and refixed, my face and jaws shrinking as my ribs and lungs shrank as well. When I breathe in again I’m standing on two feet, a small circle of fur at my feet.

“You’re shedding…”

“And you shouldn’t be here!”

He shrugged, throwing the rock he had picked from the ground at my face and I dodged it ease.

“I see you’re still fast.”
