CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX - FOUR TO TANGO

ALPHA ASHA

Whether the strange Alpha had planned to ambush me or not, I tried not to think about it. My paws struck the ground with double the force and I ran twice as fast, catching on to their scents and that was my motivation to run even faster.

I rounded up a large fenced compound, the scents led inside. Without hesitation or care for whether this compound was guarded by sentries or not, I leaped over the gate, landing with a heavy thud. I swept my eyes to either side of the mansion, no sentry, no wolves. Then it hit me, a sudden and very strong wave of nostalgia. My wolf cocked it head to the side, trying to understand whether this was real or I had finally started hallucinating; this mansion was an exact replica of my pack house in the south.

Someone was behind me. I snapped back, a low but menacing growl rumbling my throat.

“Cool down cousin…” Jared stepped closer, my wolf wagged its tail instinctively on seeing my goofy cousin.
