CHAPTER 27: MINE ONLY

I screeched to a halt outside the pack's hospital, my heart racing with urgency as I rushed out of my car and sprinted towards the entrance, my phone already in hand to text Jared for Laura's room number.

But before I could even hit the call button, his response popped up on my screen. My throat constricted as I saw the room number, and I quickened my pace towards the ICU.

In a flash, I was standing outside Laura's door, my hand trembling as I pushed it open. My eyes scanned the room, locking onto Laura's still form in bed. I could tell she was asleep as her heartbeat was steady.

But as I drew closer, my gaze fell on the strange reddish bruises marring her pearly skin. The thought of the pain she must have endured filled me with a rage so fierce, it felt like it would consume me whole making me growl involuntarily.

As I gazed at her beautiful sleeping face, I noticed her tear-stained cheeks, she must have cried so much.
