Kayla's POV.

"Leaving so soon?" Alpha Netayam's voice suddenly thundered through my thoughts, and fear gripped my trembling eyes as I wondered what he might do next.

In an instant, he had me enveloped in his embrace, his body exuding an intense heat that momentarily stole my consciousness.

Staring into his eyes, I couldn't ignore the icy edge that marked his gaze. It was evident he was wrestling with his own inner turmoil, a storm of emotions he was reluctant to reveal.

"So, where were you planning to go without me?" he asked with a smirk, his hand delicately brushing aside the strands of hair that veiled my face.

"I... I wasn't going anywhere, Alpha Netayam," I stammered, struggling to steady my voice as I spoke to him, "Not without you."

To be honest, my attempt to lie to him was weak, and I suspected he saw right through my lie.
