Chapter 6: Shattered soul

At midnight:

"Ana what happened". Why are you twisting and turning in the bed? Let me sleep. Sweetheart. You didn't allow me to touch you last night. I thought you must be tired due to wedding rituals." Sam, Ana's husband said annoyed while rubbing his eyes. But she is not listening to what he is saying, lost in a deep thought. 

"Baby, what happened. What is bothering you. Just tell me." She leaned and rested her head on his chest.

"Umm.. Sam I am very worried for Caro" With a sad and gloomy face, Ana replied.

"Caro? Oh yes. She is your friend right who came specially to attend our wedding. How sweet of her." Ana nodded and silently sob. "But I hadn't seen her in our marriage? Is everything okay with her?"

"Actually she was not feeling well, so bhai told her to rest. I hope she is better now. I want to see her. Please Sam."

"Baby relax. You are worrying unnecessary" But Ana is not ready to listen. She got from bed and prepared to step out. Sam stops her.

"Ana, are you nuts? Did you see the time, it's 4 am. She is already not well and you are going to wake her up at this time. Let her sleep. I will take you to her in the morning. Sleep now" With that he pulled her down in bed and started romancing her.

At 6:30 am:

Caroline is taking a nape after their hot romantic makeout session. Both are exhausted and tired. Her head was resting on his chest. There is a content smile on her lips as she remembers the moments spent with him. They are lying naked under the duvet while their left-over clothes are scattered on the floor. She admired his handsomeness without blinking. After a while, Austin stirred a little. By his movement, she gets alerted and covers her face. He shifted to the backside.

She blushed when his bare sexy back reveal to him. He is the only man who gets this close to her. She couldn't believe she lost her virginity for a man who is a mere stranger to her. She is unaware of his name but he has the audacity to affect her as if she knows him more than anyone. This thought causes butterflies within her stomach. The feeling is very new and special which she never experienced. She is lost in her fantasy world when a frame falls on the side of a bedspot. The moment she saw Harry’s picture on the frame, her smile faded instantly. She brought her back to reality and got up with a thud. Tears automatically start rolling down. 

''I betray him?'' was the only word that came to her mouth with trembled lips. She remembers all the moments she spent with Harry and then her mind played last night's encounter with this stranger..

She could still feel his countless kisses all over her body. Shame passed through her. Guilt began to consume her. The way he makes her come, she felt suffocating and disgusting.  

She tried to get up but felt a sharp pain in her lower abdominal. She closed her mouth to stiffen her sobs. The flashes of last night again and again haunts her. 

She stared at his sleeping form and recalled the way he marked her as his by entering his manhood with uttermost care. He kissed each and every part of her without leaving a single fibre while she shamelessly submitted herself to an unknown person and lost control. She covered herself with a sheet and ran to the washroom. She broke down in tears and began to hit herself.

“Why Caro. Why didn’t you stop him? Why did you forget you are engaged? You belong to Harry. Why do you break his trust?” She opens the shower and starts to run her skin in order to remove his fragrance, his touches from her body.

“Why allow him to take advantage of my situation? Why didn't I stop him?” She cried more hugging her knees close to her.

Then her eyes landed on the ring in her left finger.

“Will you marry me, Caro” 

She recalled Harry’s marriage proposal and closed her eyes in pain. “I am sorry Harry. I don’t deserve your love. You are too good for me but now I become impure.”

 Flashes of those moments spend with Harry flashes to her. The way he brought a smile on her face, his antics, his jokes, his lovely efforts to impress me. His caring nature and gesture to make her feel the most important part of his life. To bring a smile on her face, he convinced mamma and papa to send her to New york and what she did.

 ''Harry. I am really ashamed of my deeds. I can’t face myself in the mirror. I failed to protect myself. You trusted me so much and gave me permission to attend my friend’s wedding. I hate myself. I just hate myself.” She slapped herself repeatedly.

The sound of her cries echoed to Austin and he woke up from his slumber. He immediately got up, wore his pants and shirt and reached near the washroom. At first he is hesitant to knock the door, but with her soft sobs, he gets worried.

“Are you okay?” WIth a tender and soft voice, he uttered. But it made her worse.

He inhales sharply recalling everything. Her fries made him worse. 

“What you have done, Austin. Why did you lose your self-control.” Her vulnerability killed him. He wants to beat himself taking advantage of the innocent soul. “I ruin her life. why I lost all my senses. I have committed the biggest sin.” He fist his both palm angrily and bang his hand on a nearby table feeling extremely horrible.

In the washroom, Caroline roughly wiped her tears and got up all fired up. Covering herself with clothes, she comes out and bangs the door after moving out.

“Why did you take advantage of me?” Caroline asked hurtfully. Getting no response from his side, she came forward and held his collar furiously,'' I am talking to you dammit. Just look at me'' But he has his eyes on the floor.

“Sorry” He replied after a long silence.

“Your single sorry not going to bring back what I had lost.”

She is unable to stand on her feet and started crying badly, dropping on the floor. "My whole life is ruined after we. Do you have any idea what you have done? I am getting married in a few days and you took my virginity, my honor, my everything. Why did you destroy my whole life? There is no difference between you and those monsters.” Her accusation hurt me but he stayed numb.

 She began to sob covering her face. He wasn't able to see her in this condition and came near her. He wanted to hold her, comfort her. But unfortunately he doesn't have the guts to face her as damage is already done. No matter what he cannot change the things that happened.

Turning to the other side, he spoke after a long pause. "I know I am at fault. I shouldn’t cross my life. I go with the flow. But why u didn't stop me. If I am at fault you are equally responsible. I lose my senses seeing you in pain''. By hearing no response from her side, he got worried and turned quickly but she already left the room. He closed his eyes with pain. He is feeling like someone stabbed his heart with thousands of needles.

Caroline ran away as fast as can and went outside with a shattered soul.

On the other hand, Jack is roaming here and there restlessly, getting tensed and sweating.

''What if Austin blurted out what I and my friends tried to do last night. Will they believe him? Obviously not. I am the heir of a family. Dad has faith in me. He will throw that bastard out of my house. But if in any case Austin convinced them then I will be finished. Dad will not give a single piece of his property. No. I can’t let this happen. The image of being a good boy I had made in front of my parents would get ruined due to that bloody middle class girl. Before she spoke a word against me. I need to warn her.” With that Jack goes towards the direction of her room but stops in the middle by spotting her in his way. 

She is rushing somewhere and there are tears on her face. He looked puzzled and began wondering, staring at her back.

Before she makes another movement, Jack grabs her hand and pulls her in a corner.

“This is my first and last warning to you. If you dare to utter a single word against me, you don't even imagine what I will do with you. Yesterday that bastard saved your modesty but you are not lucky to get escaped from the clutches of my gang. Last night I got unsuccessful in tasting you but if you spoke out the truth in front of my family, then the consequences must be drastic. Did you understand” He threaten her grabbing her neck. While she is standing like a statue. He got pissed off and pin her to the nearby wall.

“I am talking to you. Are you hearing me or not?” Caroline has no expression on her face and ''I have already lost everything there is nothing left. Let me go.” Replied Caroline without any emotions.
