Chapter: One Hundred & Twenty-seven

CATHERINE’S POV

When I slumped to the ground, I heard their whispers which made me know that everything was a game. They had wanted me dead, and the guard that approached me trying to act righteous was only acting as was ordered.

“She's supposed to be dead!” That was the last voice that I heard before everywhere was silent. That doesn't change the fact that Peter is into women trafficking and John is in support of him. “Does he truly want me dead or is Peter doing all this secretly for him?” I thought, still lying on the floor. I wonder if John will ever come to his senses and know that Peter is fooling him—that jerk will surely want to get rid of him in the end. Or he wouldn't be trying for a way to kill me just like he thought he had killed the kids.

“I didn't find the key, looks like she didn't take it or it fell off.'' I heard a masculine voice.
