Despite Gemma's attempts to appear indifferent and not pay attention to what others did to her, including Jethro, she had long grown tired of this place. She just needed to be obedient and make Jethro despise her, and soon she could leave here with dignity. She didn't want to run away, only to be caught by Jethro again, but each time it only caused her more pain.

But no one had ever dared to say to her face that she had become as weak as Alex, and Gemma's gentle and sweet demeanor had disappeared, replaced by a cold, sharp gaze as she looked at Alex in front of her. "This is you, Gemma," Alex chuckled.

Gemma snorted and didn't ask why Alex had helped her, but there was one thing she was curious about: why had Alex helped her when he was loyal to Jethro?

"I don't think you felt sorry for me and helped me, Alex. What's your reason, and what do you gain from helping me?" Gemma spoke coldly, her tone reflecting the authority and position of a noble lady.
