"Alaina Ginger Rose Jones" 

I hear my mom yell waking me up from my nap

"gurl get yo behind down here now!" I pop up and look at the time on my phone 9:42 when I got home the first thing I did was do my homework then face timed Cam to help him with his homework, then Sam called to gossip about this guy she's talking to, then I took a shower I didn't mean to fall asleep but I was worn out and didn't feel like cleaning. 

As I walked down stairs I feared for my life "hey mom" I say as she glared at me and pointed to the dishes in the sink "didn't I tell you to clean my house" 

"yes ma'am but I had fell aslee--" she held her hand up for me to stop talking 

"why were you late again, after I woke you up and told you not to be late" I looked at the floor and played with my fingers 

"I missed the bus so I had to walk" she blew a breath and shook her head "but Cam said he would take me from now on so I wont be late anymore" I say quickly waiting for her to yell or something but all she said was wash them dishes and then she walked to her room; 

I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding then washed the dishes and went back to my room. 

An hour or two later I wake up and remember about the cook out so I get up to go ask my mom if she wanted to go, as I went to knock on her door it was already open so I walk in looking around to find that she wasn't in there

I shrugged my shoulders and started walking back to my room but I heard a male voice coming from downstairs I furrowed my eyebrows confused because I hadn't heard some one knock as I started down the stairs the voice got a lil louder and I could hear my mom talking in a hushed tone "you need to leave now" 

"no I came to see her not you"

I inched a little closer to the edge of the last step, luckily they were in the living room so I was able to stand in the floor and listen whoever he was my mom didn't want him here. 

"I don't care you need to leave before I call your parole officer Jacob" Jacob I know I've heard that name before, but from where I thought to myself 

"I don't care do what you gotta do Tanisha, but I've been out for two years I got my life in order now I have a job now and a house" the man Jacob said getting "hush before you wake her we are doing just--no she is doing just fine with out you so you need to leave now and never come back" 

I covered my mouth to keep from them from hearing cause at this point I was breathing too loud, 

"no I stayed away for too long as it is because you didn't want me around, where Tony at" my mom got quiet 

I remember Tony he was my moms old boyfriend when I was like six or seven 

"huh you cant speak now as soon as I get locked up you take that as a green light to hook up with my cousin" 

my eyes nearly popped out my head, my mom was still quiet as a mouse 

"what cat got yo tongue, you cant speak now you thought I wasn't gone find out wit yo foul ass, I would have been here sooner but you made sure I wouldn't be able to find you, but you didn't do a very good job. Streets talk ma, now go get my daughter" 

when he said that I stopped breathing confused anger and hurt was all I felt as I walked into the living room a man had his back turned toward me he was dark brown skin, tall and had muscles and towered over my mom who had her head down 

"mom" I said but it came out a whisper her head popped up and I seen she was crying the man turned around and his scowl turned into a smile when he saw me, he had a handsome face with one dimple in his cheek

"baby girl" he said as he took a step toward me I took a step back, nervously he must've took that the wrong way and hurt flashed on his face as he put his arms back down and looked at my mom 

"what did you tell her about me" his voice boomed through the house making me jump 

"she told me you were dead" I spoke up for my mom that pissed him off and he raised his hand up like he was going to hit her so I grabbed his hand before he could and wrapped my arms around his torso he was surprised at first but then he wrapped his arms around me 

"I missed you" I say when we stopped hugging he smiled big making his dimple show 

"I missed you too baby girl I promise I wont ever leave again, how about after school tomorrow we have lunch and catch up" 

I nod my head yes "good now its getting late you should get ready for bed, I don't want you missing out on your beauty sleep" he said ruffling my hair I laugh and swat his hands away 

"okay good night um" I say kind of confused on if I should call him Jacob or 

"dad" he says

"dad" I say smiling and walking up the stairs and into my room laying in bed thinking about what just happened. I was angry at my mom for lying to me but I was happy to have him here.
